I have ordered twice from this restaurant in the last few weeks, first time they forgot my desert, which I did receive a credit for, I ordered tonight, and they forgot more than half my order!! I got the vegetarian platter to go and the service was great, both servers that helped me were so sweet and patient, they provided their input into the dish which I appreciate. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, even though it was nearly closing time. The seating is old school Persian, with cushions against a wall and super low tables, which was fun. :) (I can't believe I never finished the review for this place. And now it's been 6 months, and my memory's shady.) Anyway, what I remember is that the food was good. Not better than what my mom or grandma would cook, but definitely better than anything I could conjure up, and better than what I'd expect to find in Albuquerque. I remember ordering a stew sampler. I DO, however, remember the staff being super sweet, bringing us out lots of hot tea, and the owner coming out and meeting us. After being a customer for more than 20 years, my family and I will definitely NOT go back. We ordered two platters, we asked for an extra dinner plate to share the meals. We were told NO extra plate would be provided as sharing isn't allowed. The server stated the owner, Mohammad informed her not to provide an extra plate to us. We thought it was a joke. Interestingly, Persian culture encourages sharing communal platters. My mother in law is 92 years old and felt humiliated and belittled. She was looking forward to a nice dinner after a long day of medical procedures and was treated so poorly and awful. I asked to speak to the owner about this ridiculous stupid policy. He was obstinate and rude. He tried to flip the story which was that I giving the server a hard time. Not the case, she was wonderful and kind. She was only obeying his controlling and small minded orders. She will go on to a better palace to work. We have never ever been so disappointed in any restaurant like we were at Pars If we could give negative 10 stars we would but the app will only allow one star. The server felt bad and we gave her a nice tip for being kind and caring. The owner is neither kind or caring and is only concerned with max profits in attempt to force customers to order extra meals. Mediterranean food is definitely a go to for me! Here, there was NO FLAVOR on the food. We ordered Lamb and Chicken kabab. The rice was too plain to eat with kabab's. David was our server, he was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere is nice. I will not be back again for the food! If you want to try good Mediterranean food, definitely this is not the place to go. Its my birthday, its my birthday! Where we goin'? PARS! Belly Dancers! Sit on the floor! Weird yogurt drinks! Ok, enough excitement. We had fun, even though the belly dancers weren't there on a Wednesday. Bummer. The doogh (yogurt drink) was way too weird for me, and I'm much too old to sit on the floor. I am, after all, a full year older than I was at this time last year. The food and service were excellent, and the decor was very Persian, so that was cool. I had the Wednesday night special which was the beef and lamb gyro and upcharged the basmati rice to the festival rice (I can't remember the actual name, just that it translated to festival rice). Two glaring reasons. 1. It is uncomfortably warm. And if I'm uncomfortable, I feel awful for their staff. That really needs to be fixed. 2. Belly dancing says it starts at 6:30. A scammy business that has ok food but which I couldn't enjoy because of their intentionally deceptive business practices. We went on new year's eve and were told that we could either pay $55 per person for the special or order off the main menu, but it would be a $30 minimum if ordering off the main menu. We had the intention of ordering a couple plates to share between 3 people and I was planning on spending over $30 for the table so I assumed I was fine. We were repeatedly told $30 minimum and yet the waitress and owner intentionally left out the vital qualifier of "per person." That is, until the check came and they wanted us to pay $37 to make up the difference. When we ordered our food and it was less than $30 per person, the waitress failed to mention anything. That tells me that this is an intentional practice to scam customers. If I were told that it were $30 per person, I would have immediately left because I was not planning on spending that much, and yet, when I told the waitress that this was not communicated to me, she insisted that I misheard and blamed me rather than accepting accountability. This also tells me that they are doing this intentionally. They have a tiny little card in the corner of the table underneath the glass and hidden beneath the menu that says $30 per person in minuscule print at the bottom so they can claim that it is in writing and we have to pay. No reasonable person would consider this acceptable communication. The restaurant was mostly empty and they should have been appreciative of our business rather than blaming the customer for their poor communication and arguing with me. I flagged down the owner, who at least was kind enough to hear me out and lowered the cost difference to $15, which I still feel should have been waived altogether, but was good enough for me to accept so I could get out of there and not have to deal with this absurd situation that ruined my dinner. He mentioned that many people get confused about this, which also tells me the staff is aware they're being deceptive and do not attempt to remedy it by putting a sign in large letters explaining the cost is per person, or putting in the effort to ask customers if they understand before taking their order. I do not think that restaurants like this that deceive their customers and disrespect their clientele are deserving of your business. read more

We went back to Pars last week, late July 2020, for another late lunch and were so happy to find the place is open. We signed in, got our temps taken and had to eat outside, because the Covid 19 rules have reverted back to saying that we can't eat indoors... but there were umbrellas on the patio so it was pretty comfortable. The shish kebab, rice, stuffed grape leaves, salad and desserts all were as good as ever. We took home some food and it was excellent when reheated the next day. BTW, we are very worried about NM's ability to deal creatively with the need to retain wonderful businesses such as Pars when the cold season comes. Just hoping the takeout options remain. read more

I live in Los Angeles, so good Persian food is easy to find. In Albuquerque, there are fewer options. However, Pars is a good place to check out, if you're having a hankering for Persian food. One thing that they lack, which I missed, was a chicken koobideh kabob. They have beef and lamb, but no chicken. The owner said he had trouble getting quality ground chicken in New Mexico. WHATEVER! The ghormeh sabzi was flavorful, but the portion isn't that big. I like their Mediterranean food, too. We don't like sitting on the floor, so we ask for a higher table with chairs. They are happy to accommodate. My sister stopped going here because of bad service. I don't go too often because it is a little pricey for what you get. read more

It was our first time here and I am so glad that we got a chance to dine at this restaurant. We received a warm welcome and told them it was our first time at this place so we got to sit on the floor. Not literally, but it was an adventure for my kids because we got to sit at a table and chairs that were lowered. I'm guessing this was where they had the belly dancer, but we didn't get a chance to experience that. Maybe next time, because we definitely enjoyed every part of our dinner. I had not been here for quite some time. Then they added me on Twitter and responded to one of my tweets. After some conversation it came up that I had not been in for awhile. And not because I don't like the food, but mainly due to living far away. So I made a special trip and I will say it did not disappoint. The food was not only on point, but once I was finished eating I couldn't wait until the next visit. I'm definitely going to put this place in my restaurant rotation. On the night we visited there was belly dancing and it fit right in with the atmosphere of the place. Having married into a Persian family, and eaten the real stuff from my wonderful mother-in-law, I feel qualified to pass judgment on this (also Persian owned) joint. It's legit. While my darling hubby will rant about including things like souvlaki and hummus (not, in his mind, Persian foods) on the menu, I will simply steer you towards the legit Persian dishes. With apps, I specifically mean the Mast O Moosir (thick, creamy, savory, yogurt shallot dip) and Kashk O Bademjoon (amazing rich and delicious eggplant dip). The Shirazi salad is a nice light opener too, tart and cleanly flavored with mint, oil oil and lemon juice. If you're feeling conservative for your main, you can't go wrong with the Chelo Kabab Koobideh, a kebab of seasoned, tender but not fatty ground meat, served with a heaping portion of saffron rice and the required grilled tomato. But, if you really want a taste of the good stuff, then Gormeh Sabhzi is where it's at. Don't be afraid when it arrives, it looks like a swamp. But it's actually the most heavenly stew made with spinach, cubed beef, and kidney beans, flavored with dried limes to add an underlying touch of acid. I could eat bowls of it. Finally, the Persian ice cream, particularly the saffron, is an excellent closer, not too heavy but substantial and lightly sweet. If you lean more in the pastry direction, the zulbia is soaked in honey and indulgent. read more

I had the best lamb shank I have ever eaten at Pars. It was fall of the bone tender and I could cut it with a spoon. The soup and rice were so amazing as well. We also loved the Persian ice cream. One of my favorite parts was getting to sit on low cushions seating almost on the ground. So fun!!! This was the very first time I've ever eaten Persian food and of course the first time I've been to Pars, and let me tell you, if there was ever a perfect place to eat, Pars is the place to go. The service was superb cause the waitress was so friendly and very attentive to our needs. I thought it was so cool that the owner came out to greet us and made sure everything was ok. Then to top it off, the food was out of this world delicious! I recommend the Sultani dish which is a Koobideh Kabob and a Kebob Barg. Absolutely AMAZING! Plus, I don't know what they do with their Basmati rice, but its decadent and delicious.
