Put simply, this is the best cannoli in Boston. Me and my wife did a four-way blind taste test among Mike's, Modern, Maria's, and Parziale's. Parziale's has a tasty, flaky crust and just the right touches of sweetness and cream-cheesiness in the filling. Modern was decent but the crust tasted subtly burnt by comparison, and the filling was just not that interesting. Maria's filling was also lacking. Mike's was pretty far behind the rest -- the filling tasted artificial and way too sweet. The top three choices are all at least good, but Parziale's was clearly better in both of our opinions, both for filling and crust. read more

I can't possibly give this place any more than one star. Pizza was touted in other reviews as really good, as were the cannoli. Couldn't have been farther from the truth. When we arrived, they had only one pizza option, cold, burnt and looked more than a day old in the pastry display. The cannoli while good, were very small and not amazing for the premium price that we paid. Finally, the service really lacked any North End charm, we felt as if we were being made to feel like they were doing us a favor by selling us a few cannoli. Was in town for one night only and ran by Parziale's to grab a box of my favorite cookies that I've been eating since I was a kid. A man turned around when I walked in and asked what I wanted. When I told him cookies he said he was too busy to be bothered having to weigh something out and that he was closed. Honestly? I wouldn't have cared if he threw four handfuls in a box and told me it was $25. I would have paid it. He was a jerk and it completely ruined this place for me. read more

Parziale's is THE bakery of the North End if not New England. Parziale's is a traditional bakery that relies on just that, tradition. AND it shows! My dad would take me there for a (square, corner piece) slice of pizza and a canned soda at lunchtime the days I would go to work with him in my adolescent summers off. On occasion, we would pick up a small 'round bread', which would be sliced and then put in a plastic and brown bag right there. This bread is as good as it gets! A firm and chewy crust and silky soft inside, perfect by itself or to accompany any dinner (especially the obvious Italian dishes w/ savory gravy/sauce). Here is the best part, so you will feel a little guilty eating half a loaf in the 1st day...but when you wake up the next, and toast a piece of this bread, I hate to do this but, FAHGETTABOUTIT! That is what makes this bread the best, its versatility. At this point I buy 2 rounds per visit...they come in small and large too. This place has been open over 100 years, and I hope it stays another 1000! The quality breads along with the pizza, cookies and pastries are second to none. The warm welcome of doing 'business' at Parziale's is as delicious as the smells you absorb as you enter the bakery. The family members running the bakery feel like just that, family, as nice as any. This place is better than Mike's Pastry. Their cannolis are way more fresh! Also, you don't need to wait because there are no lines! Avoid those lines in Mike's Pastry and go to Parziale's; it's cheaper too. The service is really nice, good attention. read more

Cannoli just as good as Maria's, both have a nice cream cheese flavor to them the difference is the cream is thicker here. So if you like thinner filling go to Maria's (still my fav). I do think the shell here is a little better than Maria's but not enough to make the difference in choosing one place over another. read more

I highly recommend stopping by this lesser known bakery for the best original cannoli I've had in Boston. I think parziale is on par with mikes, without the large lines. Legit Italian bakery!!!! As soon as I saw the cookies my great aunt made me as a child in the front window, I told my Husband we must stop here! Grabbed some cookies on the go and they we super fresh and delicious. I was leery at first, so many baked good in there, could it all be fresh? It was and I'm still enjoying. I visited both Parziale and Bricco's on the same day since they were both in the North End so I sort of left it on the sidelines as part of my tbd-later list. As my list continues to grow, I figure that if I don't write about it now, I probably won't write about it in the future either. Parziale had a rather limited selection of bread items, some of which seemed better than others. I was definitely not a fan of their "baguette" which reminded me of a standard, mass-produced sub roll so I bought myself a large loaf of ciabatta instead. Of course, to be fair, I ended up purchasing both since I had been using baguettes as a benchmark for my bakery comparison. As I expected, the baguette was lacking. Even though it was semi-warm, it still didn't have the light mie and crisp crust that we look for in a baguette. So after losing interest in that, I turned my attention to the ciabatta. Large holes, chewy interior crumb with a touch of tanginess. If I had some olive oil, I'm sure that I would have made the loaf disappear within the hour. They need to start making portable olive oil. Just kidding, but not really. Parziale also offers a variety of different pastries and desserts. I didn't pay much attention to them since I'm not a big cookie person, but they are available if you're looking to satisfy a sweet tooth. read more

Parziale's has been my go-to bakery for goodies to bring back home when visiting Boston. The Scali bread is so flavorful and tender I can never wait long enough to get it out of the toaster, so I end up eating at least one piece while waiting for the others to finish toasting! And OH the cookies, buttery, nutty, fruity and fabulous. They even freeze well (keeps us from eating them in one sitting!). Like I said, not so much for pizza and not sure about other breads they offer, but the Scali and the cookies are amazing. Highly recommended. read more

Strolled by to spot a $1.45 slice sign -- unless I overlooked it, they opt against including the 'introduced pizza to Boston' distinction that's often been thrust upon them. The cold, sauce-heavy Sicilian was pretty darn unbeatable (especially for that niche), as was the cannoli filled to order. Living on Salem this is my go to bakery! Breads good. Cookies all yummy! Go with the Italian fig cookies!! Pizza delicious. You can also buy fresh pizza dough to take home and make your own pizza. Prices are fair. The owners are soo nice! They give my dogs biscuits and have even offered me free cookies when they were putting them away in the display. I will always recommend them among the other bakeries and yes I have been to them all. read more

Parziale's is amazing. I've lived in the neighborhood for 5 years and their pizza is in my top 2 for sicilian style, square pizza. (Umberto's beats it, but the line is MUCH longer and practically they're never open.) The bread and pastry is also fantastic as is the service. It's still family owned and operated after over 100 years. The hours could be better - they close at 6 most days - but the quality makes it worth working into my schedule. read more
