Don't go to this dental office. They messed up my teeth. I had to go to another dental office to get it fixed.

I've been coming here for 20 years or more. Always great care . I come for extra cleanings during the year and they always work with my schedule . I love my hygienist Ana. It's taken me a few days to write this post because when it comes to most of the staff they're amazing, but when it comes to the office manager he is definitely full of BS .. This place just like the previous posts it is a complete scam and I really hope people read the yelps before stepping foot in this office. I had an appointment for cleaning.. I got my x-rays done and I was seen by the orthodontist, she asked me what teeth hurt and so on, the orthodontist then left the office and I thought she was coming back, a few minutes later the assistant came in and I was told I need deep cleaning and she doesn't have time today. HELLO I'm there for cleaning , the assistant said it takes more then 30 for deep cleaning and they don't have time. I was then told to go wait upfront. A few minutes later the office manager comes and takes me into the room and gives me some BS invoice with crazy prices, I did not agree to do.. however I did say I wanted the deep cleaning. After that the orthodontist comes in the office and all of a sudden has time to clean my teeth. What do you consider a deep cleaning? I consider it much more then her cleaning the inside of my bottom teeth and THAT'S IT . no flossing no cleaning other then those teeth. It took maybe 10 minutes. So how is this deep cleaning? The only thing I can say is they're lucky to have the lady that works at the front desk, she is wonderful but she deserves to work in a place that doesn't scam the sh.. out of people. 5 stars all the way. From the receptionist (shout out to Kesha), to the cleanliness of the office, and the bedside manners of Dr. Petty. I had a horrible consultation for wisdom tooth removal elsewhere and the whole experience traumatized me. Another dental office tried to scam me for insurance fraud, but I won't get into that.. Martin, the office manager picked up the phone. I asked him what goes into a routine cleaning as I was not satisfied with the cleaning, Anna, had provided. I wanted to better understand what was included in the cleaning to adjust my expectations. He responded, to my dismay, that he didn't know anything that went into the cleanings and to have Anna call me back directly. She didn't call me at all. I found it odd that a manager for a DENTAL OFFICE didn't even know what his staff was doing even in the most general of terms. It seemed like he wasn't willing to address the issue directly to Anna. The actual cleaning by Anna had lasted no more than 5 minutes. My experiences in other offices have been much better. They thoroughly checked each and every tooth with a pick, flossed, and added the fluoride soft clean. I would also get an X-Ray to ensure no tooth decay. I would also not have to pay a dime. At the end of the five minutes, I was told it would cost another $95 for another "deeper cleaning". Aside from the poor work ethic from Anna and the poorly trained management, the hours they provide are not flexible for people that work the exact hours they are open. I will take my business elsewhere that has more integrity, who won't do a snow job and will have better flexible hours. read more

I got my wisdom teeth taken out with these guys and it was extremely easy and cheap to boot. About $200 better than anywhere else I'd looked. They had a free consultation, quoted me, and could have even taken my teeth out that day had I wanted! When I did get them out, it was painless - I was extremely nervous about anesthetic but the staff (including and especially the dentist!) The office looks updated on the outside but when it comes to your teeth, it is on the inside what counts. I went in for an initial consultation for a known crack in my molar and to schedule a cleaning. I went in, had XRays taken (very old technology) and sat in a chair (was also very old and outdated). Dr. Kim came in, did not introduce himself, looked at my X-rays and tooth, briefly and said I needed a crown, handed me a dirty mirror to look at my tooth, and referred me to the front desk to schedule the procedure. They had me wait 30 minutes to quote me on the crown, I had to leave and they never called back to give me pricing and schedule the procedure. I did schedule a cleaning but they were booked out a month and a half. I never will go back. Also is there an orthopedist here too? A little strange to practice ortho and dentistry in the same building or is that an error on yelp? I went to my previous office in Orange County where they did my cleaning, and Dr. Cramm fixed my tooth with a filling on the same day. No crown was needed. read more

My general dentist referred me to this office for a root canal. The office interior looks new and modern, but what I'd expect in Pasadena. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back. When I walked in, one of the employees at reception let out an uncovered big yawn. It was after lunch; I get it. Even though it is not a professional environment, it's friendly. I personally liked the relaxed, laid-back, casual, friendly atmosphere. The employees at the counter interacted with me like I was a friend rather than a patient/customer. We joked around, sang along to the background music, and just had a good time. They seemed like they'd be fun to party with. LOL. So reasonably I assumed that the office shares the same culture, so I brought the same energy to "the chair". But, the endodontist, Joseph Kim, was unfriendly. He seemed inconvenienced and annoyed by the questions I asked and the comments I made; very un-empathetic. When I asked him what caused an existing root canal - that is 10-12 years old - to get infected, his answer was, "I don't know, I wasn't there; not sure what he did/used; maybe he didn't clean it good enough." When he walked away I made a comment to the assistant and I know she couldn't say anything because that'd be gossiping or bad-mouthing her boss, so she just said "he's really good though". But he just left a really bad impression on me that I couldn't allow myself to be treated by this person, no matter how good he may be. I asked for another referral and he, Dr. Shimizu in Arcadia, is much, much more friendly and patient. read more

This office participates in price gouging. It takes TWO appointments before you can get a routine cleaning. I'm not sure if you have the time or money to go to two appointments for what should take one, but I sure don't. read more

Although Dr Garcia was excellent the staff neglected to inform me that my extraction was no longer covered when I scheduled and when I came in for my appointment. After the procedure I stopped and scheduled the follow up appointment and was told everything was covered as I had expected. A few days I received a bill for $300. I made an appointment with Pasadena Dental care 6 months ago for am 8am. I also reconfirmed the appointment the last week of April with a follow-up with their email confirmation. I arrived at 7:15 and entered the office at 7:50am, checked in and took a seat in the waiting area. 10 minutes later the staff cancels my appointment. I asked if I need to find another dentist, then I hear the staff which talk very loud " if he doesn't like it he can find someone elese". I then asked to speak with the doctor. He comes out screaming at me stating he's tired of all these complaints and that I need to apologize to his staff. I did some research and found 5 other reviews on how the staffing is rude. I bet there's double that weren't posted. This happened on May 10th 2022. Good luck to anyone who doesn't do there research. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. For some reason they make you schedule two appointments - one for an exam and X-ray and then you have to schedule another to get a cleaning because they don't have a hygienist in house (how/why??). Anyway I came for my first appointment where I was seen a half hour late, then the X-ray tech took some X-rays. The dentist came in - didn't even look me in the eye and just went to the computer and looked at the X-rays and said that they were no good and to have them taken over. Which the X-ray tech took offense to. Then I heard the dentist ask for someone else to take them instead. So another tech came in and rushed to take the X-rays over while the original one tried to defend herself and make it seem like it was a personal attack that the dentist didn't like the X-rays. All in front of me like I'm not there. Then today I come in two weeks later to get my cleaning and the front desk doofus is like we don't have a hygienist in today. Even though he was the one who scheduled it and I had the appointment card in my hand with his own hand writing. And he's "like yeah that's my handwriting but I dunno why it's for today we don't have a hygienist" - um that's YOUR job so why the hell would I know? He gave no sh*ts that I had to take off work and drive all the way to pasadena for this BS. This place is a complete joke. read more

I'm not sure it's fair to put a dentist office up on Yelp because what kind of person has a pleasant experience at the dentist? I never have cavities and just go in for my regular cleanings, but even that is painful and uncomfortable. Still, being as objective as possible, this place deserves one star. Here's why: I went in for my first appointment a couple days before I started a new job. I wanted to get my dentist appointment in before I had to start going to work every day. Well, it turns out this office makes you go to two appointments instead of just one. The first appointment is like a meet and greet. You meet the hygienist and get your x-rays taken. Then you have to come back for the actual cleaning. I explained I wouldn't have time to come back and asked if they could just do my cleaning while I was there. They said they couldn't and that no dentistry does things that way. I would have believed them if I'd never been to a dentist's office before. While I was sitting there waiting for my x-ray, an employee comes in and says, "Hey man, you look pretty nervous. Are you nervous?" "No?" I said. "Well, if you're nervous, you can actually get some anesthesia before your cleaning. I see a lot of people come in here really nervous and the anesthesiologist just puts them to sleep and they don't have to worry about anything. It's the best way to get your teeth done." I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to push general anesthesia on a patient who isn't interested in it. So they definitely lose a star for that. I couldn't make it back for my second appointment because I had to switch over to a different dentist who was available on Saturdays. To avoid paying for a new set of x-rays, I paid for the x-rays done at Pasadena Dental Care and brought those in to my new dentist. She looked at the x-rays and told me they were unusable. She said the images were blurry and that no dentist would be able to use them to determine anything. She went ahead and ran a new round of x-rays on the house. Then she cleaned my teeth during the same appointment. So ... in summary, Pasadena Dental Care tried to convince me to use general anesthesia for a regular teeth cleaning, and then took sloppy x-rays while apparently not even noticing they were messing them up. I wouldn't go here if I was you. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience here. I did not feel like I received the treatment that I needed. The doctor put a crown on a molar. I was in pain and unable to chew, so I returned, and he said there was nothing wrong. I didn't feel as though he listened to any of my concerns, and because of that it made the problem worse. I waited for a while to see if the pain would go away, but it never did. I was in pain for over a year. Something was definitely wrong, so I got the opinion of two other dentists. The new dentists told me that the crown was poorly done. They ended up having to re-do the crown which wasn't covered by insurance, since they had already covered the one that was poorly made by this dental office. I also had to have a root canal done on the tooth. To add insult to injury, when I asked them for the x-Rays they had taken to bring to my new dentist, they charged me $25. When I looked back in the contract, it specified that there should be no charge for copies of the x-Rays. Please save yourself the trouble and go to another dentist. I'm positive that there are better ones out there who will to a much better job taking care of you. read more

Pasadena Dental Care is a very professional establishment, starting from the front desk with Martin Hernandez who remembers your name everytime me or my kids show up, "still can't understand how he does that," Martin will give you his professional opinion without the use car lot pressure. The Orthodontist "Dr. Ryder (i think I spell that correctly) has taken care of both my kids. I look at the old pictures and their smile now I couldn't believe, I didn't see the problem earlier. They are always getting compliments on their smile. The young ladies who clean your teeth, are very concern about you taking care of your teeth, to the point you better have thick skin, she has no problem of telling you what you are doing wrong. "LOL." Now the Dentist, Dr. Wyndhamsmith, who doesn't smile a lot, I remember when my daughter was getting her baby teeth pull, and they couldn't do it because she was crying so much, so they called me at work and told me the problem. I ask who the dentist was; I knew immediately what was wrong, so I made another appointment with Dr. Kim "he has a younger look for a kid, and he smiles "LOL" it took less than 10 minutes. Now with that said Dr. Wyndhamsmith perform a cap/crown on that same child and did such a good job they had to take pictures of it. Dr. Wyndhamsmith is a true professional he has fix problems that other dentist either miss up or could not do; he's all business so don't expect a smile all the time. LOL! Now Dr.Kim, this guy is an artist, he's freaked Picasso with the drill, the last time he stuck with a needle I barely felt it. If a had a complaint don't have him clean your teeth leave that to the young ladies, he goes to fast for that. But if you are getting any dental work this guy, "sorry" this doctor is an Artist. He will explain what is about to happen, give you your options and when he performs the job, your first word will probably be are you done, no way. I saw a few reviews were the person who was writing it, gave the impression that she was getting a bill, which she didn't think was right, or they were overbilling her. I don't know about that, but I do know when my ex-wife took the kids somewhere else and I talked to the receptionist, I thought I was on a car lot. I told my kids we are going back to Pasadena Dental Care, the other place said one of my kids had ten cavities. Pasadena Dental Care said she only had three and quoted me for only three fillings after I told them the other dentist told me she had 10. Now no dentist is perfect, and they did one dentist there in the past, that was questionable. If he were still there, I would give this office a 4 star, but he's not with this crew I have to give Pasadena Dental Care 5 stars. read more

Not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. I came in today with considerable pain and originally was told I'd have to wait till Saturday for the specialist to have my tooth pulled. After a bit of discussion Dr. said it's ok he can do it. Was so relieved! No way I could have made it till then. Anyway, after getting half way through I asked for another round of shots... was getting quite a bit of nerve pain. He said no problem sir this one is on the house :-) And I was good to go. He finished up soon after and I was out the door. With my insurance only had to pay $60. Best $60 I ever spent. Well, almost :-P Dr. is very friendly and genuinely seems concerned. Okay, where do I start? I'll start with this...DON'T GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE, RUN FAR, RUN FAST!!! I needed crowns, which requires two appointments. Each time, I waited over an hour in that loud reception area. They yell from one room to the other, instead of handling things like a professional ofc. I was given the charges which were highly expensive . I asked the guy to check again because I have Guardian PPO. Then it took him another 10 min and came back with half the price. Why didn't he check my insurance in the first place? During my 1st visit, the dentist finally came in and asked me to open, which I thought he was going to take a look and suddenly I felt a horrendous stabbing pain that almost made me jump out of the chair and it was because he shot me with a needle. Why didn't he give me a heads up??!! By the way, he wasn't wearing a mask and actually coughed in my face at one point. Don't make a late afternoon appt, because everyone suddenly starts moving extra fast because they want to get out of there. It's like someone yelled "On your mark, get set, go" because they start rushing procedures. The place is dirty and I do not ever want to set foot in that place again. read more

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Pasadena Dental Care and all their staff for taking such good care of me this past Saturday. I had to get scheduled for my top wisdom teeth to be removed and I was a nervous wreck. I had been so traumatized by a horrible previous experience that I was genuinely terrified of having this done. But Kesha from the front desk was so sweet, she helped me ease my nerves and scheduled me for IV sedation. Santiago contacted me to go over the fees and he was very thorough and kind with me. On the day of, Oscar was very gentle and tentative, making sure I was okay while prepping for the procedure. And finally a big thank you to the oral surgeon, I didn't get his name, but thank you so much for being gentle and understanding. I didn't swell up nearly as bad as the last time I went through this, which tells me that he did a great job. Thank you again to everyone! Your kindness is very much appreciated. read more

Just had root canal done with edondontist who said I need to now get permanent crown done over his temporary crown! I called Pasadena Dental Care...they said they need to set up an exam first and take new ex rays! And of coarse charge me for that!!! Even though I have current ex rays from edondontist!!! What a scam! I found reputable dentists who said they would accept ex rays or do new ex rays at no charge! And do crown in one visit!!!! read more

Don't go here. The billing department doesn't do their job. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that the billing department is incompetent but since the owner refused to speak with me about it I feel it could be something more malicious. Beware. They told me how much I had to pay out of pocket so I paid it. A few weeks later I got a bill in the mail for $500. I thought it was a mistake but they said I had to pay it because they messed up and didn't give me the right out of pocket amount. That was a not so nice surprise. I asked to talk to the owner because I thought it was a bit unfair. Like a bait and switch tactic. He refused to speak to me about it. The billing department eventually said they're sorry but, "I don't want to say too bad, but too bad". They were able to knock off $200 but they still were able to get more money out of me than I initially agreed to. I'm going back to my previous dentist where the billing department actually checks what my share of the bill will be and there are no surprises. I tried this place because it was closer to my house. -- 2-17-16 I had only been to this dentist office in 2015. My benefits were only used there so they should have been aware of what I used. If they would have told me that they weren't working with my insurance to find out what I had left I could easily contact my insurance and find out. But they acted like they were doing it. Once I got my root canal done across the street (See my review of PMDS) I went over to these guys so they can get the mold and temporarily cap the tooth. This process did involve more drilling, shots, and this wax stuff they put in your mouth so they can make your crown. The process was easier than the root canal but it took a bit longer. I should have known this was going to be an involved process because of all the papers I initially signed! I have to go back in a couple of weeks for the permanent crown and that should theoretically be a walk in the park. Overall, my experience with this place was pretty good. They took the time to explain everything in detail so that you are comfortable with what they are doing. Their bathrooms are very classy and I liked that they had a plasma tv in the waiting room. As for the rating, I don't know how anyone can rate any dentist more than 3 stars. These places are not really fun and generally are not cheap. I suppose this is the best that it gets. Oh and don't forget to bring your own magazines and/or mp3 players! read more

I have a major dental phobia the thought of going to the dentist is enough to keep me up at night crying but I literally had no choice and I'm so glad I ended up here my sister had her wisdom teeth done here so I gave in and saw Dr.whynhamsmith he was very professional and calmed me down I was crying in his chair and he assured me he could help me and made me feel as comfortable as I could possibly feel and his assistant Kendra what can I say she made me at ease and was very understanding I'm a big baby at the dentist and she was very sweet and explained everything to me she's a pro at what she does and Martin and Keysha are great super helpful keysha went above and beyond to help me be seen asap and Martin is extremely knowledgeable and helpful he really helped calm me down i appreciate his patience with me he is what every office needs and explained everything thoroughly to me even when i asked the same question over and over still not thrilled to go to the dentist but thanks to everyone at this office I won't be avoiding the dentist anymore that's a huge deal. If your looking for exceptional customer service great reasonable prices and a great dentist check them out I know I will be referring my family and friends here. I TRULY am glad I found this place! Since my review (please read for background), I went to another dentist to pay cash for cleaning and xrays...and found that I have ZERO cavities (this place told me I had 3) and that my wisdom teeth came out and is decaying. They showed me a clear pix and referred me to an oral surgeon. So this place LIED about my cavities and did not find my decaying wisdom teeth. DO NOT TRUST THEM! read more

OMG! The only reason I attend this dental office is because my insurance pays for it and it would take to long to have it switched over to another office. This office staff needs a seminar on Office Etiquette. They take personal calls when a client is at the counter and have you wait till they are done. They answer in a rude tone and if your are not of MONEY they treat you like a second rate client. When you are finally sent into a room, there is at least a 30 min wait added to the 1 hour wait you did in the waiting room. Then the doctor comes in and with only looking at your x-rays he determines what needs to be done. So now after waiting all that time, you are given another appointment to have that work done. So you have basically wasted 2hours for nothing to be done!!!!! All I know is that I will be requesting a new office as soon as I find a more pleasant dentist for my business!!!!!! read more

I have been coming to Pasadena Dental Care for several years now. They provide great dental care. 1. My wait in their Waiting Room is rarely more than 5 minutes. 2. Dr. Kim is EXCELLENT. Very professional, gives full explanations of what needs to be done and why, and he is PAINLESS! (Seriously, you don't even feel the novacain shots!). BTW, Dr. Kim's brother has a separate practice and is an excellent endodontist. 3. Prices are reasonable, never outrageous. 4. Dental assistants and reception staff are always friendly and professional. Check them out - you'll be glad you did. (BTW, yes, I am a real client of this provider!
