Avoid this place. We walked in with a jonesing for Boba today. Their sign says bo-ba, so we went in. Yeah they seem to be known for their pho, but it was so dimly lit at just past noon and the bowls of noodles were so dark and unappetizing we opted to just order the drinks we came for. I actually pitied the poor saps hunched over those dreary looking dank bowls of soup. I asked the man in charge, who seemed to be doing his best to avoid eye contact, if the boba teas were non-dairy. This is important because my friend is lactose intolerant and cannot drink any dairy. He said yes without any hesitation. So we ordered 2 boba teas. I thought the price was a bit hefty at $8 for 2 small thai boba teas, but, like I said, we had the craving. Much to my chagrin, we casually watched the hostess on the side pour HALF AND HALF into our teas! For those who don't know, that's Half Milk and Half Cream! Can you get any more dairy than that? Maybe only if they served it with a side of cheese! I stopped her and repeated our order that was supposed to be non-dairy. She asked the manager on the other end of the counter and he said, loudly, "No, No non-dairy!" HUH? This guy just told me non-dairy like 3 minutes earlier. I took the abrasive tone of his voice to mean "No Refunds". The dairy in my friend's drink could have made her seriously ill. What would have happened if we ordered food and asked for no shrimp? If shrimp wound up in my dish it could send me to the hospital! This is serious stuff! And I really hate liars. If there was a language misunderstanding, say so. Don't tell me something that just isn't true. I will say the drinks were good. Yes, I had to drink them both. For the price, I wasn't going to throw them away. But I will avoid this place. In this neighborhood there are other boba drink places just as good. And the ones I've been to are non-dairy. read more

We love Asian food and we come here several times with the chicken noodles and house special, really delicious. The food here is really good but the service needs to be improved here. There are just few employees helpful and have good communication skill, so far there is just a small girl with glasses who is usually active and communicate with customers. The others keep hiding themselves behind the counter, especially the lady named SONY (or something like that) with cold face and keep playing with her phone anytime we come here (watching movies or something with loud volume). I went to this place after church with my 3 years old and 8 years old kids. I ordered one special large pho, because my kids ate already at the church,but then owner start staring at me with a sigh, because I ordered one?moment later my kids went to the restroom now owner staring my kids with angry face and turn his eyes inside out. WTF? I interduced this place to my work mate before. I will tell them not to go this place again and I will do same thing. I was hoping the negative reviews were not true, but they are. I love Pho and eat it often. I ordered the beef Pho and was not impressed with the broth. A tasty broth is so important and it wasn't very good. I tried their spring rolls with shrimp and pork. The pork tasted funny, and I didn't like it either. It's with difficulty that I write this review. I like to give restaurants and their employees the benefit of the doubt and always give them a second chance. I gave this place three tries, maybe even four, before I threw the towel in. I didn't experience rude service or anything of the like. The first time there was a hair in my rare steak pho, they took it back brought me another but I was too uneasy to keep eating. The second time there was a small hair in my vermicelli which could have been from me but I wasn't sure and I just ended up not eating and let the problem slide. The third time there was a long hair wrapped between the noodles of my pho that I noticed when I started to mix in all the side fixings, it was just there staring at me ruining my appetite and forcing me to tell the waitress, they quickly fixed me another pho to go and I gave it away to someone who looked more hungry than me and I have never gone back since. read more

Went here the other day. Family and I walked in right at the opening. We were seated and ordered right away. My food came out but the wife's took 30 minutes. We noted the staff was eating their lunch when I got my food; all three waiters and one kitchen worker eat right in the dinning room. Extremely un professional. My rice and pork chop dish was just ok. My wife's bun dish was mostly sprouts. Not worth waiting for. Stay away and take the extra five minutes to drive anywhere else but do not eat here. read more

Poor customer service. I was in line to order. A man came up behind me to pay and the cashier looked over me to help the man behind me first. Then I went to sit down to wait for my food and then they asked me to get up and sit in a specific seat so someone could sit where I was sitting. I felt like I was not welcomed in this restaurant. Food is ok. Awful customer service. Ordered to go and the server gave us spring rolls not fried egg rolls. Wanted to speak to the manager and was given the run around that they could not authorize a credit. They wanted me to leave my hungry family and go back and pick up the correct order. The amount of food to go was not worth it. You could see the whites of the to go container the food did not even cover the bottom. Customer service is HORRIBLE!! If I could not give a singe star I would!! I read some of the comments posted here and found same experience I had. When we walked in the guy just pointed to the table and flung the menus. When our Shrimp Fried Rice was brought over the shrimped looked not fully cooked so the waitress took it back. The shrimps were cook but now the rice was barely warm!! And our egg rolls never came until we finished the rice!! When the egg rolls came I asked the waitress(name SONY) to bring another order of shrimp fried rice that was hot. She went back and spoke with the first waitress(CANDY) in their language and I could very clearly see that both were very amused and even laughed at what my concerns were. To speak to both of them and also another waiter and have them not care or try to make things better was truly fustrating!! If maybe this place would have staff who was more fluent in English than maybe the customer service would not be so bad. read more

Me and my wife would go there all the time and we had to stop because of the rude staff. One of the workers actually slammed our soup on the table getting soup on the table, and then slid our other plate towards us. She didn't clean up the mess or offer us anything. I had to get up to ask for a refill of water at the register and the staff seemed irritated that I asked. I have told friends that go there about the staff and they had the same experience. The food is okay but the staff is untrained and rude. One older Asian lady that was our server was very rude to us. I recommend not eating here. read more

My family loves to eat. We eat all sorts of food. My sister's bf happened to be Vietnamese and introduced us to pho. He has brought us to a lot of pho places but this place that recently opened is better than a lot that we've tried. Their pho bowls are big, flavorful and cheap. The spring rolls in this place are the best. The drinks, I don't dig that much. The service gets really bad though. Other than that, I def recommend this place. read more

This adorable little Vietnamese place has an extensive and delicious menu. The pho was great and the pork was bursting with sunshine and flavor (especially in a French bread sandwich). My family drops in literally 4-5 times minimum a month... it's a regular spot for us and we know what to expect everytime. A fancy establishment, it isn't, but a homey-comfort-food kind of spot it is. The food is consistently good (favs: Pho Dac Biet, Sliced BBQ Pork with rice, Eggrolls, Taro Boba Smoothie, etc.) and comes out fast soon after ordering. The service is typical of what you'd find at other Vietnamese restaurants. Meaning you're not going to get 5-star service... you're going to get simple, straightforward, and non-chatty service. "How many (in your group)? "Here, ok?" "What would you like?" That's about it. They get to work and in minutes your food is ready. And, no, they don't always come back around unless you call them over. So, yes, you sometimes have to flag someone down for more water or the check, but it's not consistently an issue and they're always friendly. Overall, I like the place and so does my family. The servers recognize your faces if you're a regular - which is a nice touch because it shows they care about return service. (Side note: my daugter forgot her toy one weekend and they handed it to us the next weekend we came in - kudos!) Overall, just know what to expect (and what not to expect) - then, enjoy! read more

Coming here because i desperately needed a restroom.lol. It was dinner time and the place wasnt busy whatsoever. Ordered the house egg noodle. It was a noodle soup with 2 slices of pork, a couple of shrimps, crab sticks and squids inside. They also gave you some jalapenos, cilantros, and bean sprouts on the side. Food wise, it was average. Just okay. It tasted so-so, nothing special. The broth wasnt rich, and it wasnt bland either. Luckily they have some sauces on the side so you can mix it up by yourself. However, i like the egg noodle. It wasnt soft. Yes, i looove hard noodle and i just got the perfect egg noodle! *love it*. About the service, the staff were not attentive at all. They didnt check on you nor refill your drink. Even after she put the bowl on my table, she just walked away immediately like she was in a rush to do something else. This might be closer to 3.5 stars but I'd lean 4 mainly because there's not many good pho places in pasadena. Arguably this is the best one. Their egg rolls are also surprisingly good and better than most I've had in Alhambra where there are a lot more pho restaurants. read more

I do not think I will go back to this place. A friend and I went on our lunch and I left without eating. My friends food took 45 minutes to come out and mine never came. I had to ask for them to make my food to go and got up and paid. After I shared my experience while paying the cashier said he couldn't do anything to compensate my terrible experience. He said " I just work here, I do not have authorization to do anything about it". After my friend had to get up and demand a to go bowl because our server never brought it. My food was fair at best. Being the only place to get pho in the area (other than a 15+ minute drive down plus a lengthy wait at golden deli), it's actually not bad. The broth is very greasy compared to other places. Stop by here for lunch with family and friends, had some fried spring rolls, pretty good and crunchy, not too oily. Had several pho's (House special, beef meatball and beef stew pho) all were very good, the House Special pho was particularly very good with a clear but savory broth. We also had an order of the grilled pork Banh Mi sandwich which was also very good, the bread while crunchy on the outside still had a soft interior, one of the best Banh Mi we've had. Pho is excellent. Wife loves it, (noodle lover) while I often order something else from the large menu. Mostly good interesting flavors and very reasonable cost. I would rate the pho 5 stars and mostly the rest is 3-4 stars. The egg rolls are disappointing, and I love good egg rolls so that's a bit of a bummer. We don't go out a lot but we go here about twice a month because it's inexpensive and easy and good and the kids are fine here and the Vons is newly remodeled and very nice and Buzio's Yogurt is there too. Great location. I wonder if the menu were a bit smaller maybe they could concentrate on fewer better dishes. read more

I've eaten here many times, appreciating it as a decent Vietnamese place in the neighborhood for nights I didn't have time to head to Golden Deli or Blue Hen. But the last time I ordered take-out, I dished the pho into a bowl at home and found a large COCKROACH under the noodles. Disgusting! Worse still, when I returned to the restaurant with the pho to let them know, they were unimpressed and unapologetic. Told me the manager would call me and arrange a refund. No call from the manager then or any of the other 3 times I returned to the restaurant to remind them and leave my number again. I stopped by for a last time and was told that they would give me another pho but would not refund my money. Amazing! I would have felt much better about the place and the experience if I sensed they were horrified too and eager to make amends rather than expecting me to pay for Roach Pho. Very sorry to have to cross this one off my list forever. read more
