My first visit ever: The rare steak and brisket in the pho was flavorful, beefy. Definitely a tastier beef than is offered at competing pho cafes in Pasadena. The broth was delicious as well. I prefer to add extra fish sauce (and more jalapeños than most people can stand!) to the broth; I did so here, but honestly it was pretty good as-is. So we were visiting grandma in Pasadena, and we wanted to try out some local Pho spots, and found this one close to her house. Small and quaint, located in a busy shopping center, so good luck trying to find parking. Overall, the service was mediocre, but I also learned that a GREAT pho location should be around 3.5 to 4 stars. So it was exactly as I expected. Food was good, I wish my pho was a tad bit hotter, the spring rolls were a bit dry but the egg rolls were good. Every time I am shopping at Vons I smell this place and every time I want to eat something here. This place has just about anything Vietnamese you could want to eat and probably more. First, I haven't had Pho in literally YEARS. With that said, I'm not sure if I'm qualified to give an accurate review of this place I stumbled upon. Yep, I'd exited Vons (it was around lunchtime) and was looking at the food offerings in the complex and this establishment jumped out at me. I stepped into this unassuming place and a young man gestured for me to sit at a small one-person table near the back counter. Staff was neither friendly nor unfriendly. They were, ummmm, efficient. They efficiently took my order, delivered my food to the table and brought my check at the end. Although they have a host of appetizers, entrees in addition to their noodle soups (pho), I ordered the Number 3 (Pho Dac Nam Gan - Rare Steak, Well Done Flank & Tendon). After all, Pho is what I came here for. I had a choice of a regular or large bowl. I chose the regular and was pleased with the size. The broth was good. I feel that I've had better. But, hey...it's been awhile. The noodles were plentiful, but I felt a little slighted on the meat. I comes already in the broth. And I'm guessing they do it this way so that you can't determine just how LITTLE meat you're actually getting? Nonetheless, with the broth, sprouts, noodles, basil and the little bit of meat I fished out, I left there full. Overall, I was absolutely satisfied with my meal. Ugh this place is next to my house and I desperately wish it was actually good. If they food was better, I might want to put up with their horrible server. The broth tastes so watered down. Some of you haven't had good pho and it shows. There's barely any spices and the broth is lacking in depth. I got spring rolls too and the shrimp was mealy. The ratio was 80% rice noodles and a few measly shredded iceberg lettuce and cabbage strands. There's no green onion, no egg roll, no cucumber, no cilantro. The sauce is legit 50% hoisin with some crushed peanuts. I always ask for fish sauce and limes instead because the sauce isn't good, but they haven't given it to me 2 out of 3 times I've been here. One time, I thought I would save them money by declining the peanut sauce for spring rolls and just getting a fish sauce. This way they don't have to waste it on me if I'm not going to use it. The lady lectured me that I should've told her before she tied the bag. Then she proceeded to untie the plastic bag to switch the condiments while slamming the counter and rolling her eyes and huffing. It was so ridiculous, I literally asked her if she was having a bad day before she stopped acting petulant. The next time, the same lady acted as if I asked her for her first born child when I wanted a couple extra limes. I swear, this woman is so unsavory, I'm almost certain she works here against her will. I always tip 20% even on to-go orders so I really don't think a couple extra limes is the worst thing to request. The first time a younger man helped me with my order and he was wonderfully pleasant. He told me how difficult covid had been and I had hoped to support them. The next two times I came, I ran into the awful woman and I really would never want to put up with her ever again for just mediocre food when there are other options nearby. They should really get rid of her. I can see there are a ton of other reviews about this same woman and it's costing them their business. read more

The service is more attentive than most restaurants of this genre, and the food is tasty and of filling portion size. Pricing seems just a tad higher than what you can expect from other Vietnamese restaurants farther south in the SGV. Parking availability is not the best. All in all, while not quite my top pick for a Vietnamese restaurant (that title is still held by Pho Pasteur of Rosemead), it's a solid eatery that I will definitely be returning to. read more

For Pasadena, this is probably the only place to get Vietnamese food so, yeah, it's good. lol. Honestly, it is good enough to eat. I came here several times for pho. I've only tried the egg wonton noodle a couple of times. If I don't drink all the broth, I won't have to use the bathroom. Of all the pho places in the SGV, this is definitely not the best. There is one other place that tops it all. Regardless, I would come back here (and have) as they are the only place in Pasadena for pho. They have a huge menu that includes all sorts of Asian noodle dishes. They have Vietnamese pho, Chinese wonton noodle soup. Japanese udon, chow mien, Thai pad see ew, and on and on. But every dish has a Vietnamese flavoring. Think of Noodle World or Noodle Planet but smaller. They are located in a plaza with a Vons, some poke place, and other stores. Parking can be an issue as a lot go to Vons and a lot forget that Vons has parking on their room. The servers are nice and to the point. Nothing special. The decor is clubby like, and they have two TV's so there's something to look at if you're by yourself or not into talking with the people you went there with. read more

My daughter wanted a smoothie, (i thought honeydew) and when she brought it out she was so not happy about it, she didnt find the boba pieces pleasant. So i asked the lady if she could exchange her drink. (We were all eating) worst mistake ever. This lady begins yeling at me, saying no she can not exchange it, not for free, not her problem the child did not like it, what does her not liking it have to do with her. Then after all that says no she can not exchange it because she drank half off it. (When i ordered i told her an extra cup and poured it into my childs cup) so i grabbed my childs cup and poured back onto the boba cup, and when this happened the smoothie fell onto the soup ruining all the dinner. So i asked her for a soup replacement. Then she begins to yell at us and says "you just want a free meal". Infront of the entire restaurant everyone staring at us. When nothing would have happened if she just replaced a simple drink. I honestly feel discriminated against, i was wearing my dirty old slippers a thrifted jacket.. and i feel she thought we could not afford our food. Why should i wear something to classify money? If my bank account has it? An outfit should not matter to anyone. We ended up still paying for our meal. Worst $70. We left still hungry and the worst embarassment ever. Order my food online got a sandwich for $17 that was worth maybe $6 due to how deflated all the ingredients filled a full size sandwich, which Jersey Mike or subways does so much better than these guys, and it was also cold and the meat tasted old or made by old ingredients. I had a bite of bread with nothing in it wondering where is my sandwich. Also got the fry rice also tasted old and made with old oil, so so disappointing, last time for me. Best place I had this type of food was in Eagle Rock also by downtown china area. I just don't understand business these days preparing food so lazy and a bad practice to manage orders or just the quality of your business name. Ordered 4 bowls to go and the noodles were undercooked...it was still a little hard and the herbs were all bruised and dirty looking. It didn't look fresh and it was all bug bitten. The bean sprouts were also brown and wilty. It was so discouraging and we were disappointed with their quality. We ordered online and when we saw there were empty tables my party asked if we were able to sit the server rudely said you can't sit here if you order online. The customers next to us even gave a look when she gave us attitude. Also when we asked for extra sauce they charged $2.50 + tax too! The restaurant itself is a little small and tight and it looks pretty clean upfront but maybe just a little outdated. But, they also don't specialize in anything so they don't have one dish that they make really really well. The service was quick and we were seated promptly. The employees were quick but we felt a little rushed to order. The rare steak pho was solid but could have used more meat and a less salty broth. It came with a small plate of raw bean sprouts, jalapeños, lime, basil, and all of the traditional sauces. The fresh spring rolls had both shrimp and pork and the peanut sauce was tasty. My partner and I moved around the end of May 2020 (covid season) and were eager to find a new staple pho restaurant nearby and... thank goodness for pasadena noodle and grill!! We live very close by and also LOOOVEEE pho and this has never been a disappointment! The portions are quite large and since takeouts the main option, I find that I split my rare steak pho into 2 meals while my partner enjoys his house combo pho and had a full happy belly afterwards! Always our go to place for pho. They're quick and food is fresh and delish. Today we ordered a large chicken pho with chicken broth, perfect for the cooling weather and big enough to share. With the pho we ordered their 5 piece crispy egg rolls and a iced coffee. Pho had an abundant amount of chicken and noodles. The chicken broth is light and not too much msg (I know because when I have meals with a lot of msg, I have a reaction). This is what makes their noodles so wonderful. Crispy egg rolls are quite a large roll and 5 of them!!! They're crispy and filled with meat. We could only eat one each so the 3 leftover, we will use the airfryer to reheat later as a snack. Iced coffee is strong and on point. It is super strong so if you're like me, where I like strong coffee, then you'll love this one!!! The restaurant takes phone orders as well as in person orders. Staff is very good about keeping their distance and sanitizing. They wear their face masks as well as have hand sanitizer available. There are a few tables outside for you to dine at. A decent take out size so I was able to have a small soup bowl amount left for the morning. I'm not a fan of having a fully wilted bunch of basils -- all the leaves were mushy brown or on their way out The vermeil noodles were okay. I wasn't the noodles to be the same as those in the Pho (I could be wrong).
