Don't ever see Dr. Spero -- he is short tempered, egotistical, disrespectful, and misogynistic. Office is super disorganized and doesn't remember patients and their history because they split time between 2 offices. When I told Dr Spero I had a root canal based on the advice he gave me last year he became defensive and said I was lying (why would I lie about the medical advice he himself gave me? He did my filling that immediately needed a root canal, so I guess it hurt his ego since he said I should have had the procedure done with him and not an endodontist - which is the opposite of what he told me last year via text message). I have a photo of the text where he told me to see an endotontist, so he is clearly blaming me for his misremembering. The way he was talking to me was making me uncomfortable while I was in the chair, and he even closed the door so others wouldn't listen which made me more uncomfortable and uneasy around him. So as we were talking I politely said I preferred not to do any treatment today, to which he just got up and left the room with no words. As I left the office I told the receptionist that I felt weird vibes, and he came out yelling at me to get out of the office in a childish temper tantrum, saying I was the one who made HIM uncomfortable. I have never had an experience like this with a medical professional. Dr Spero's behavior today showed he doesn't seem able to control his emotions or empathize with patients, which is concerning for someone who is meant to help people. Telling a doctor you are feeling uncomfortable and want to leave is your right as a patient, and shouldn't be taken as a personal affront. As a young woman I told Dr Spero that I felt uncomfortable and asked to leave, and he the older man followed up with DARVO by turning it on me to pretend I was the offender. Beware and choose any other dentist who isn't short-tempered, pompous, and utterly disrespectful. read more

Best dental experience I've had! Dr. Spero is one of the most kind people I've met! I'm embarrassed to say I haven't been to a dentist in years due to anxiety and fear. Dr. Spero made me feel so welcome and had no judgement. I woke up with severe tooth pain. I have an impacted wisdom tooth that was putting pressure on my other tooth and I could barely think due to the pain. I called and Dr. Spero answered right away. I explained what was happening and he asked if I could come right then. When I got there I was greeted by the front desk assistant (I cant remember her name) Who was very kind and welcoming. Not long after, I was in a chair getting x-rays. Dr. Spero informed me that I actually needed a root canal because that's what was causing the pain. He performed the root canal not long after and my mouth feels so much better, even after leaving, and the root canal itself was painless. He kept talking to me telling me not to worry and that he would take care of me and took things one step at a time without pressuring me to get everything done all at once. I've been so afraid to go to the dentist for years and I'm so glad I saw Dr. Spero and will absolutely be continuing my dental work here. I usually don't write reviews for places but coming from someone with social anxiety this was one of the most calming experiences I had at a dental office. 10/10 read more

Dr. Spero is my hero! I developed a severe abscessed tooth the night before Thanksgiving. The day after I was in excruciating pain, swollen face and it even caused a black left eye! I called 6 so-called emergency dentists from the internet. None of them did emergency dentistry. Out of options, I went to the ER. After waiting for 4 hours, I left without seeing a doctor (prepared to die of exploding face or sepsis). To my great relief, I found Dr. Spero who is, it turns out, the only dentist in this area that actually does do emergency dentistry even on the weekends! Long story short, Dr. Spero opened up the abscess and saved my life... literally. I would not recommend Dr. Spero to anyone who is looking for quality work and respect. He made me a crown and took $1,850. A month later, the crown fell off. He recemented it and said that the shaped tooth (which he made) was too small and he couldn't guarantee that this crown would last for a while and insisted on a much more expensive bridge to fix the problem he created. This time the crown lasted two months and fell off again and I was charged $265 for crown recement. When the crown fell off again in 8 hours I was forced to find another doctor who fixed Dr Spero work and installed new crown. Two months have passed and I still can not get my money back. Dr. Spero refuses to refund all money he charged me for this crown. Stay away from Vincent Spero, DDS !!! read more

I came to Pasadena smiles with no insurance and a Groupon voucher. I made an appointment and the receptionist was super nice and informative and patient with all my questions. The office is emaculate and the front office was on time and got me back no more than 5 min after I checked in. Turns out I needed some work done. Dr .spero explained everything to me , professional and honest.i really felt comfortable the assistant s we're friendly and the office manager was awesome. Dr. Spero was there when disaster struck. I broke my tooth on a beautiful Sunday morning and had no idea what to do. Called Dr. Spero, he was very nice and informative, calmed me down and told me he will take care of everything. He performed a root canal the same day (Sunday) with absolutely no pain, and I had my new crown molding within a weeks time. She had a emergency in the middle of the night i was pleased to receive a return call within five minutes. Dr. Spero and all the staff at Pasadena Smiles are amazing. I was extreme in pain from an infection. It was late and the night before I was getting ready to go on a camping trip I had planned for months. I called and left a message trying to get a last minute appointment. Dr. Spero is an absolute awesome doctor who cares about you and your teeth. I had such a horrible tooth ache on Sunday morning and Doctor took me in and made my day...toothache gone.
