Went in for a smog check and my car failed due to having a new battery installed the previous day. The technician said this was a common problem and to drive the car for about 100 miles and come back for a retest. He was correct and after driving the car a bit, it passed on the retest. The places I have called charge $90+ for older car. This place charges $80 cash or $85 Credit Card. The couple who runs this place are very nice and friendly. I didn't have to wait and the process was very efficient. . What blows me away was at the end, Alen explained to me the ASM Emission Test Results of my Miata compared to the State Requirement, to the AVG Rating from the same car category. To my point: show me another location in Pasadena that dares to charge, quote a customer in person or on the phone, or write on an invoice $69.99 for a smog test for a car that is eight years old. Don't think all your customers are idiots just because you get away with it with some of them. Maybe you should also do some research on basic math skills. Here's how it should have gone down: I called you and you said it was $50 if I came in. When I was done on the phone with you I found the stupid $20 off coupon from your website and brought it in. I'm not wrong in thinking if the price is $50 and I have a $20 off coupon, then I should pay $30. Yet, when I arrived, the invoice was written for $70, not $50? And the $20 off from the coupon would make it the price that you said it was anyway, which was $50? It probably helps to understand basic math if you are going to run a business. I know some people who can tutor you in math if you need a refresher on things like subtraction. Which do you prefer? Dishonest? Swindler? Scam artist? Sleazeball? Those words work too. I'm not the only one of your customers using these catchy phrases, but they all paint a pretty accurate picture of who you are. Stop having your friends and family flood your Yelp and Google pages with fake five-star reviews. You pay people so you show up at the top of the search algorithm. It's embarrassing. Five seconds at your shop and anybody with half a brain will know that those five star reviews are illegitimate. How much did you pay these folks to write the fake reviews? Is that why you need to charge $70 for a smog test? For the record to anyone bothering to read this post, Alen owns and operates a zero-star business and treats his customers like zero star customers, but Yelp sadly doesn't allow me to officially post that, so I'll have to stick to the one star that I gave him. And even so, that one star is me being far too generous. Everything about you and your business, Alen, feels like fraud. Here is some research YOU should do next time you try and open a business: maybe look at a square mile of land to see if there are a a fifty other businesses selling the EXACT same service you are trying to. And if you choose to sell that service anyway, and you sit in your office and watch TV all day long and the customers that you do actually get to show up you are rude to because they call you out on your asinine prices and you tell them to leave, well, I hope you aren't scratching your head at why you aren't making any money. It was a ghost town when I visited. I am not lying when I say I interrupted Alen's television watching for him to get up to help me and then promptly tell me to leave. Crazy. This was the worst experience I have had at a business in years. I don't think I have taken the time to write one negative review about anywhere in my life. But Alen sure made me feel a certain way. My advice to anyone daring to visit this establishment? Stay far, far away. Alen will scam you. Alen will rip you off. If you are into those things, then this is the place for you.
