Been here twice (see below). Both times Alen was professional and friendly. And super fast as well. Also at a reasonable price, $45 via Credit Card and $40 for cash payment. Only time I had to wait was if he was helping customers before me. No big deal obviously. First time, my 2011 Jeep Wrangler threw an emissions code. Once I thought I had it fixed, I cleared the code, and brought my Jeep to Alen to get it SMOG'd. He informed me the computer had not collected enough data yet and I would have to drive another 100 miles or so. You pay at the first visit, but the retest is free. During that drive, the same emissions code threw. Realized I had to replace the EVAP canister, and that fixed it. Brought it back for the retest, and it passed no problem. In and out in 10 minutes. Just this past week, my wife's Honda Civic was due for a SMOG. Brought it in, and same experience. Professional, friendly and fast. Won't take my cars anywhere else from now on! read more

The 5-star reviews are justified! This is the best, friendliest, and cheapest place to get your vehicle smog checked. I meant to go right at opening but I got derailed, so decided to go mid-morning. I was the 4th person being helped and even with that many folks ahead of me I was there no more than 20 minutes. It was great. Alen does great work and his associates there keep everything running smoothly. They even knocked down an extra $5 for me due to the "inconvenience." Today was the second time back and I couldn't be happier. I wish all places were run as efficiently and with such honesty. I had an oil change and was given a great job and a great price. Alen and his wife couldn't have been nicer. They suggested an air filter change and explained the benefits and I got exactly what they predicted. Better performance with my beat up 2006 Honda Civic. It is rare to find excellent service at a great price. I was quoted almost twice as much at other smog stations. $40.00, for test only & no other charges. The station is immaculate, Alen is friendly and accommodating. I had my dog with me and he brought over a chair & gave me a nice place to sit with my dog. He was nice to my dog too. This place is awesome! First, let me note that test only centers have no incentive to offer more than up-to-date equipment and competent techs. Most are not clean or welcoming. They don't need to be, because every car has to be tested and most only every two years, so test only centers aren't really looking for return business. Pasadena Test Only & Smog Check makes me wish that the owner was also a mechanic, because I sure as heck would give him return business, and send my children and friends, too. I could not believe how clean the service bay is, the floor actually shone. The waiting area is clean and has enough seating and plenty of reading material. There's water and a pot to make hot water for coffee or tea and small dishes of candy, Quite gemuetlich. My car was done in about 15 minutes, and there was one already in the bay when I came. I've had smog checks take more than an hour, even when there weren't a lot of people in front of me. I definitely recommend this business if you are anywhere near Pasadena. read more

Hands down the best experience I've ever had with any auto service. The shop is meticulously clean. The service is friendly and fast. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Every review here is spot on. As I was driving to the shop, I started to worry it would be hard to find. There are tons of other Smog Check shops in the area. The shop is prominent with both the name and address painted on the front of the building in large print, though the intersection is a little funny, with the three way light. The location is great, right next to 210. That way you can take a quick drive down the highway and back and make sure it's warmed up. He is competent, reasonably priced, and quick. As soon as I drove up my car was pulled into the bay. The Yelp and cash discounts made the cost competitive. My car was tested and done very quickly. This is the ONLY smog check you need to go to. Always nice and honest people. They keep the place immaculate too! My wife came with and she thought they must have just moved in but nope they have been in the same spot for at least 5 or 6 years from my finding them. I've brought my Mercedes and my wife's Lexus here religiously just knowing the way they operate is quick and easy. If they are busy you can chill in the air conditioned office with wifi and laid back comfy seating to make you feel right at home. Trust and believe you won't have a chance to get comfy because as soon as you do, your car will be ready to go! They have great prices and are synced up solid with DMV. I got my sticker in 3 days after passing smog. That's after thinking I could get it immediately at the DMV kiosk in Hastings Ranch inside Ralph's but the kiosk takes 3 days to get your info and it will not give you your sticker but it does let you pay ! (if you think I'm wrong try it out yourself. You will get the paperwork proving you and your car are legit but you will have to wait for the sticker to be sent to the address on file with DMV. Save yourself the hassle and pay by phone or online and you might get it fast than 3 days if you are lucky read more

Due to a number of unforeseen circumstances, including being delayed in a gas station when the pump broke down with the hose stuck in my car's gas tank, I arrived at the Pasadena Test Only Center just 5 minutes before its official closing time at noon on December 31, 2018. The office door was closed and so apparently were the doors to service areas on that nice sunny day, a discouragement to last-minute customers. I did not want to impose on the owner, even if he could be persuaded to test my car since I had not made an appointment. So, I departed and found nearby another similarly priced Star Smog Test shop that was open until 1:00 pm. Why the five stars, when my car was not tested? My rating is based on the reasonable price, the congeniality of the apparent owner, and his patience on the telephone with a prospective customer who called several times but never did arrive in time to be tested. By the way, it turns out that testing cars manufactured after 2000 is a very quick and relatively easy operation in most instances, so I would have anticipated spending only about 15 - 20 minutes testing, as I eventually did elsewhere. read more

Service: oil change Cost: $65 - synthetic oil Time: 20ish minutes I called same day and was kindly accepted for an oil change during my lunch break. When I arrived, Allen came out to take care of my car. He estimated it would take around 20 minutes, so my friend and I had a leisurely lunch at In-N-Out. When we walked back to pick up my car, Allen had finished and parked it on the side street already. He checked fluids, lights and reset my car so the annoying "Service A Due Soon" message was gone. He also let me know that when my car gives me that message, I can technically wait to get an oil change even if oil life is low. He recommended that I go in when it's at 0%, as I had gone in at 15%. When we first arrived. I was a bit skeptical since it is located is one of those "mechanic malls". But from the moment they spoke their first word , it was all polite and helpful. Our car is a lowered 8th gen mugen. And so he was careful enough to not scrape up the lip against Curbs and what not. They had many magazines and snacks along with coffee. Hot chocolate. Cold water. Etc. Clean. Very friendly. They explained what was happening and showed us the results of our smog check. They also applied a $20 dollar coupon so we saved a nice amount.
