Came here on a weekday for the very first time and I made reservations just in case. Luckily it did not get too busy for a weekday during lunch. We also got very lucky to find some free street parking as well within a very short, walking distance of the front door. Do not be deceived as this place is also connected or part of the same building of a hotel. Our service was very nice and friendly and she was so accommodating and helpful and answering questions. She also was quite flexible as far as explaining the side as well as what kind of dark meat pieces you were allowed to get. So that was really helpful. The food came out quickly and freshly cooked. The fried chicken is absolutely juicy and crispy. No complaints whatsoever other than the pieces could've been bigger. however, the side I believe were already premade and sitting out somewhere in the kitchen so they weren't hot and they definitely weren't as fresh. The peach Cabo, which they are also famous for did not disappoint. So glad I ordered it however it is quite small in size. They apparently also had an extra bread pudding that somewhat either forgot or didn't pick up and you'll see that in the box here and we took that to Go. That was quite delicious delectable and and sticky as it should be. This place is definitely an institution in Atlanta and I can understand why. 2nd time visit. Friday morning around noon. Located in a plaza. Valet parking. We paid $5. If you have a handicap sticker you can park at the front yourself- avoiding valet. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, blacken salmon with rice and gravy and brussel sprouts, another blackened salmon with fries and brussel sprouts, fried chicken wings with mashed potatoes and gravy and mac and cheese, and fried shrimp with fries and brissel sprouts. Pros We had a party of 8 but they allowed us to split into two tables next to each other with two different servers. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating and well as the servers. However, I did have to tell a server to get our server at one point. Cons The fried green tomatoes are good but the breading is falling apart. My rice and gravy originally came with a hair in it. They replaced it no questions asked. They do not split checks with parties of 6 or more. Not good for big parties. Would I Recommend: Yes. This is a great spot to visit with your family to get some soul food. No loud music, no vulgar language, no hookah, no inappropriate uniforms, just good food and OG Atlanta vibes. Came here when they opened on a Friday. I believe our servers name is Carly, and she was the best! Very attentive and funny as hell too. We all pretty much ordered the 4 piece wing with sides: Brussels (per Carly's recommendation), Mac, and I added a side of yams. The food was really good. I noticed that my wings were significantly smaller than my mom and sisters, but we shared so it's ok. My dad loved his and my brother got the pasta which he liked also. It did take a little long for her to greet us, but I think that she was just. Dealing with another table so I won't hold it against her. The only reason why this isn't getting five stars for me is because my friend ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese and his mashed potatoes came out cold. His mac & cheese portion was significantly less than mine and his cornbread muffin was also not the correct portion... Meaning it didn't even feel the cupcake paper wrapper it was so small. It didn't even fill that out and those to me are just small low hanging fruit where the person in the kitchen should've caught that and never served it. my friend was asking why he got less mac & cheese and why his cornbread looked like that... as a person who used to work in the restaurant industry. My first thought was if they're using the same spoon or serving utensil, he should've gotten around the same amount, but it was significantly less in his bowl and the cornbread muffin that he received should've never been served. It should've been thrown out... And he should've gotten a regular size cornbread muffin. I ordered the catfish plate with mac & cheese and yams and I added a side of greens... We visited on Sunday to celebrate my 83-year-old aunt's birthday with a group of about 12 people. We understood that we were a large party, but we expected that there might be additional support to accommodate us. Our food took well over an hour closer to an hour and a half to arrive. When it finally did, it was not hot and was not reflective of the quality and consistency that Paschal's is known for. As longtime supporters, this was especially disheartening. While I could see that our server worked very hard, the overall experience was still less than memorable. Hands down the best soul food I've ever had. I'm here every single time I visit Atlanta. The fried chicken, greens, and mac and cheese is literally chefs kiss. Came to Paschals Sunday to host my sister's baby shower in the Maynard Jackson private room. Mr. Milton and Darious were our go to people and were incredible! The food was amazing and fresh as always!! I do recommend reservations or private experiences for optimal service. However at some point during the event I left/dropped my wallet. Mr. Milton informed us it would be at the "desk" for pickup. I came back and came to the host stand downstairs and explained the situation and received the WORST service from the young lady at the host stand. She wasn't helpful at all. However one of the wait staff Semaj (Se-ma-Jay) asked if I needed help and immediately found the wallet and was very kind and helpful. We waited about 5mins to be seated. The booth we were in could use some attention since the wood on the table was scraped up & the leather on the seats were picked off. The space is very well put together there's no doubt about it. It takes an industrial hippie vibe and makes it local and welcoming. The service is a lot of that and way. Very helpful and considering all the things. Minor hiccups I won't hold against them as my waiter was new. But the main event was the food. Firstly I will be coming back. But for me it was my husbands jumbo shrimp. Just battered really well. Seasoned so on point. Made me excited for the chicken. Which bizarrely not as much fun for me. In Atlanta for our cousin Glenda's 70th Birthday. She suggested Paschal's and I'm glad she did. What a step back in history. When I walked in, I could feel the spirits of the elders welcoming me. We had an appetizer of collard green dip and it was delicious. I ordered fried shrimp, which was fried perfectly. My sister and cousin had the fried chicken and it wasn't fried to a golden brown. I think the batter that used was too thick and didn't lend itself to the tomato texture at all. Not sure why they put cheese on it. It was a no for me. Food - everything we ordered was very good. We were a party of about 12 plus 4-5 children, so we ordered A LOT of food. Our server, (I won't spell his name, because I will definitely misspell it, but it started with an M) gave great suggestions on what to order. Between all of us, we had ribs (fall off the bone tender), fried chicken and catfish (fried just right and well-seasoned), and shrimp along with most of the sides - greens, sweet potatoes, black-eyed peas, rice and gravy, mac n cheese, brussel sprouts. The sides were good as well, the only exceptions - the rice was a little mushy and there was a little too much sweet chili sauce on the sprouts. The fries and catfish off the appetizer/starter menu were tasty, too. The tea and lemonade received great reviews and come with free refills. Service - here's where the problems come in. Again, our server was great; he's the reason I gave 3 stars instead of 2. The bartender on the other hand, was the complete opposite - rude and unwelcoming. A couple people from our party placed orders at the bar while we were waiting to be seated and had nothing good to say...I don't know if the automatic gratuity has something to do with her poor customer service or if she was just having a bad day, but either way, customer service is just as important as good food. I don't recommend The Other Island drink - it's very sweet and you can't taste the alcohol. It's a tropical version of a long island iced tea, a drink you should not have to wonder about whether or not the alcohol is there. My cousin didn't really enjoy the Hennessy peach margarita either. Paying $45 per person and a 18% gratuity for 2 ppl was over priced, but expected in a tourist area. Server showed up about 15 mins after we were seated to take our drink orders. Free was the waitress and she's a ROCK STAR!!! She works the room and has excellent customer service. The food sounds good but the execution is terrible for the shrimp and grits. Three people ordered and three people sent it back. They added sausage and a Tanisha gravy that would be better served over a pot hop or potatoes.
