Really nice place to stay. Huge room, comfy bed. Enjoyed the mineral bath spa once we figured out which spigot was which. (The water from the hot springs really stinks). Grounds are beautiful. The only downside is that the kitchen closes at 7 on Sunday nights. We were having drinks in the bar and had to order take out pizza from elsewhere. Bartender was great though- told us where to get pizza and cleaned up after us when we were done eating. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Don't bother! Upon pulling up to the hotel I was kidding and said this place looked haunted. I came here due to a recommendation from a wedding we were going to not too far away. We were told by the bride that there were not many choices in the area. The hotel sure knows how to work the supply and demand system. For the price of this hotel I sure thought it would be much better than this. One star for the guy at the front desk and his upbeat attitude, but that alone wouldn't bring me back. The carpet didn't seem to be vaccumed walking through the hallway in the Jessie James building to our room. We were told we had a view of the "Koi pond", if you consider a green watered kiddie sized pool great to look at. The tub was way high and I struggled just to climb on in. If you're planning to take a bath to soak in you literally wont be able to see above the tub while sitting (no I'm not that short). The water faucet head had a high pitched sound (really sounded like it was ready to fly off). Beau goes in next and asked if it was my bar of soap inside, nope, didn't use the hotel's soap. So the cleaning people didn't bother cleaning/removing out the previous guest's soap? Gross. Returned from the wedding late at night and parking was difficult to find. We waited awhile while luckily someone happened to leave. Walls are paper thin and I could hear the guy in the next room talking. Difficult to sleep while smelling a foul odor all night. Woke up early just to check out! Had to yelp our experience and read other people's reviews to find out about the sulfur smell coming from the hot springs and also the fact that me kidding about the hotel being haunted was no joke. Very nice place. We stayed in a fireplace room (which gets turned on by the thermostat...neat!). The central location was nice and the grounds are really pretty (with minimal assy sulfur smell). The lobby has a cool old timey feel. I'd certainly stay here again if I'm ever back in the area. read more

LOVE this place! The rooms are nice, luxurious baths, quiet and centrally located. Great customer service and very family friendly. The restaurant had excellent dinner and breakfast. We stood here as part of a wedding block. Good: friendly staff, nice location. Needs work: we were not able to get the wedding rate because of our dog. we asked about the pet policy and the number of rooms in that category are limited - we were forced to upgrade to the mineral spa deluxe room at what seemed to be full price. With that, we were not informed whatsoever about the sulfur smell on the property ahead of time or at checkin, which is particularly strong in these spa rooms. We would've likely stayed elsewhere if we were told about this. It is a strong odor that we confused with a backed up sewer line. Finally, as part of the wedding block, we were to leave on a shuttle around 4pm. Checkin at the Inn is a very late 4pm, so we called the night before to request early checkin, which we were told would be worked on and that we could call again in the morning. We did so, and were basically told there was not a guarantee of the time. When we arrived around 1:30pm, I went to the front desk and our name was not on a paper list they had on the counter that read "early checkin", which was surprising and unsettling after having spoken to the front desk twice. I requested again to get in early and I observed the person at the front desk writing my name on the list, which tells me had I not asked a third time, we might've not had the request fulfilled. All of this is frustrating, especially since as part of the wedding block you'd expect that the hotel would know about the logistics ahead of time and adjust as needed. Expensive for what you're getting, I would consider staying at an airbnb in the future. read more

Stayed here for one night during the 4th of July weekend and it was great. The hotel was pet friendly and we got a nice room with the outdoor hot tub overlooking the garden. There is a sulphur smell but it's not unusual due to the hot springs. It only smelled when we opened the door to the patio. The hot tub with the springs water is a unique experience . The history of the hotel is interesting and cool. It's also centrally located downtown so all the shops are in walking distance. We had no problems with dirtiness, our room was nice and clean. read more

I was in Paso Robles on business, and once it was confirmed I was staying overnight, I looked at both the Hotels Tonight app on my phone, and Hotels.com. I found this hotel in the same price range as the Holiday Inn Express and less expensive than La Quinta and other comparable hotels, yet the reviews on the apps by guests were very high, 4.6/5.0. I called the hotel directly, but the rate was exactly the same so I booked through Hotels.com so I could get the room/travel credit. Upon arriving, I was pleasantly surprised by not only the location (very central to downtown Paso Robles), but the ambiance of the hotel as well...somewhat rustic and older, but definitely classic and classy! I was quite surprised to find a very nice steakhouse on the premises and a warm and welcoming lobby! I met another traveling couple in the lobby who were very friendly, and we were all speaking with the desk clerk, Danielle as they were being assisted and I was waiting. Danielle was extremely pleasant and accommodating! I had initially been assigned an upstairs room, and I requested a downstairs room due to my back problem and items I would be carrying into the room. Danielle gave me room 603...this property is broken up into several buildings with courtyards, a koi pond, etc.. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and rustic! Mind you, this isn't a "luxury" hotel like you would stay in while visiting Las Vegas or San Francisco, but this hotel is classic, clean and fits in perfectly in the Central Coast Wine Country! My room was cute...enough room to walk around, a tale and chairs, nice flat screen TV, comfortable bathroom and a fireplace! The bed was very comfortable and the room extremely clean! The only "dated" item was the wall air conditioning (which I didn't use this time of year). I would definitely recommend this hotel while traveling either for business, or while spending a weekend in the Central Coast Wine Country! Great location, excellent & friendly service, and beautiful grounds with nice, functional rooms. For the price, it's so much more than some of the bigger chains! read more

Stopped in last minute and they had a deal on a room with a mineral spa. They did neglect to tell me the room is supposedly haunted..ha. Saw no ghosts. The facility is quaint and the buildings are historic. If you use the mineral spa be prepared. Oh yes, you will feel baby smooth, but you will also smell like baby diapers. read more

Not Gluten Free friendly/allergies beware. I ordered an iceburg wedge salad for lunch and told them I had a wheat allergy/Celiac and could not have croutons/wheat. They brought me a salad covered in croutons. They took it back and brought a salad with a bread roll on the side. After finally getting my order straight, I realized there were still croutons in it, which leads me to believe they just picked off the croutons and handed it back to me. They comped my meal and apologized, but I am now horribly sick. I will not be returning. read more

our "suite" was next to the gas station. after just having stayed at the waldorf (and paying the same rate) i was quite underwelmed by the accomodations. the restaurant was decent. the servie was slow but the patty melt made up for that. my favorite part of staying/eating here was teh humorous weather sign outside. read more

A bit expensive for what it is but we dug it for a change up. The rooms are clean, but small, parking is easy, its in an amazing location, and the steakhouse does have an awesome breakfast. I say 3 stars because Adleaide inn down the road gives you a bigger room, a nicer bed, for about 30 bucks less a night, but its not in the heart of down town. Cute grounds with koi ponds. The swings are also a nice addition. Heated pool. Mineral tub on balcony was nice, and they give you scented bubbles to use if the surfer smell bothers you. Located in downtown PR, so there are a couple of places to walk to for lunch or dinner if you don't want to eat at the hotel restaurant. This isn't a full service hotel though- if you need something from the front desk they may ask you to come get it (we needed spoons). They don't start serving breakfast until 7, so if you're a really early riser then bring a snack to hold you over til 7am when they start serving. This place is great if you kind of just want to relax in the tubs because that's basically what you're paying for. read more

Our last day in Paso for a mini vacation, we went downtown to have some breakfast and found this place. (one of the local proprietors pointed it out to us) Food was delicious and the ambience was beautiful. We walked around the gardens after we ate, the reflexology path was a bonus. Strike 2 and we won't be back for strike 3. My wife and I gave The Paso Robles Inn a second chance; everyone deserves a second chance. The room rates were inflated due to the current California Mid-State Fair in town. The room was adequate, but the TV was not working correctly. The room service was excellent. We normally travel with a large group, and stay at the same hotel which we did this time too. The hotel lost one of our guest's reservation and that issue was cleared up at the front desk. The next day, however while wine tasting away from the hotel, our friends were notified by the hotel staff that their room was being packed up by staff because they hadn't paid for their room the second night. This action was extremely insensitive and caused our group a lot of grief. After a lot of debating back and forth, the Paso Robles Inn, tried to correct their mistake. This was done only after they unpacked their personnel items etc... and then left it all over the room. I wouldn't want anyone touching my personnel items and then trying to put them back into a dresser. The hotel's restaurant has always had good food, and this time was no exception. However, the service was not so good. It took 45 minutes from order time to receive our food. The food was hot, but way to long. Checking out was interesting, the person working behind the counter was on the phone helping another customer while there was a line of people to check out. Maybe a second staff member should be utilized during rush hour. I'm sorry, but there are too many choices in Paso Robles to go back a third time to The Paso Robles Inn. read more

Didn't see cockroaches as claimed by others. We were near the pool. Friendly staff. Lobby filled with free air freshener for the car. The bathroom was clean and has makeup wipes. The place is welcoming but my husband can't sleep due to foam pillows. Please provide feather pillows. WiFi is good,make sure you get the secure not the open connection. I have stayed here a few times. It is a very cute place to stay. Recently I went to a funeral in the area. I stayed in the ballroom part of the hotel. Besides the picture of the Titanic on the wall, the room was nice. Jacuzzi room as well. I woke up to no hot water on Thanksgiving morning. I called the front desk and they said they were going to have to find a room for me to shower and get ready. I just wanted to get home so I asked the front desk if they would just discount the room significantly and I would go home. They never gave me a discount. Had to call them for it. No one ever called me back. I was finally refunded a whole $39 out of a $179 room. Arghhh. Didn't get the chance to relax and enjoy myself and they only gave me that small of a refund? We had a very pleasant stay. We like older/hisoric hotels, and this fit the bill. Beautiful gardens, our room was very nice and tastefully modernized. I didn't figure out the smell until reading the reviews that it was the sulfer hot springs, I thought they were having a sewage problem. I notice a lot of the negative reviews here mentioned a poor experience with the dining. We didn't eat at the hotel-- that may account for the 4 stars I give the place. One of the great qualities about this place is its proximity to old town Paso Robles and the many excellent restaurants that are within walking distance of this hotel. I would highly recommend walking through the town for the ambiance and great food and drink. Even the divey looking saloon we visited had excellent food. read more

Noisy rooms, paper thin walls. Unfortunately, you can hear your neighbors conversations and listen to them snoor all night. Housekeeping is below standard. Wanted to use spare blanket, only to find someones long black hair...and 'other' hair. We asked to be moved because the room was so very noisy. The room was much nicer...however they have a good amount of BLACK MOLD growing in the shower corners. We went for breakfast at the Inn, where apparently no one buses the dirty dishes once a guest has finished. Each and every vacant table had dirty plates. When you came in to be seated, they simply stack more dirty dishes on neighboring tables. SKIP THIS PLACE! read more

The location of the hotel is perfect! We did wine wrangler and it was perfect. Their breakfast, lunch and dinner was great as well. Sadly, my first 2 night there were cockroaches and that really made me nervous throughout my stay. I called the front office was aware that my boyfriend and I both killed a few cockroaches "they didn't send anyone or try moving us" but I get it it was the 4th of July weekend and they were busy. But still it really made my stay un-easy. Yes, the tub has a very disgusting smell the front desk was kind enough to let me have +10 smell packets for free to make the smell go away. After +10 packet the mineral spa DID NOT SMELL! The room had a closet door panel that kept falling on us. I did report this at the end of the stay. It's a small town. Everything closes at night but minus the cockroaches the stay was beautiful. Just bring bug spray! read more

Generally speaking we had a very nice stay here, after three days in Carmel it is hard to compare. However, room with fireplace was a nice touch even if decor is 50's style, dinner in the restaurant was quite decent and breakfast was super for low cost. Dining room staff very pleasant and efficient. Negatives: Tv was ancient requiring remote to search all 70+ stations to find the right one, not even a printed info guide inndicating stations to help. Overall, we loved P/R with some outstanding restaurants to chose from. read more

Not sure what rooms the folks that are saying the rooms are tired and old stayed in. Our room was well appointed, very comfortable bed with excellent linens, large flat screen tv, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, plenty of towels, free Wi-Fi, beautifully landscaped grounds with koi pond, flowers, chef's vegetable garden, etc. Our room was great, bathroom had plenty of amenities and was in good condition. Walking distance to everything in town, excellent happy hour upstairs at the bar, delicious breakfast either at the counter or in the steakhouse (we did both). We didn't try to steakhouse for dinner, nor did we have a chance to use the pool, but we will definitely stay at Paso Robles Inn again.
