I've been there twice and found the selection at lunch to be large. The food isn't bad but if you eat lunch later than 12:30 you are bound to end up with some dried-out food. I suggest going at the beginning of lunch and food quality will be better. I like the lamb curry and chili chicken. Vegetable fried rice was not good. Mango ice cream was bad also, tasted like a mango hard-candy melted into a bowl of ice-cream. A friend that went will me kept biting into bones so beware. read more

I've been to this place a couple of times, since it's a convenient location for me. I always have the buffet and try as many different dishes as I can. The have a large selection and they're all very tasty. They have classic dishes like chicken Tikka Masala and saag Paneer. Service has been attentive and the buffet price is reasonable. read more

Wow!!! What great service and food! Tried all kinds of things in the buffet that I have not seen in any other Indian Restaurant. Everything was presented beautifully. It was clean and the servers were right on toop of everything! I highly recommend this restuarant. I like spicy food and find that most restaurants say they have "heat" but never really do... DELICIOUS Chicken Tikka Masala! I have tried my favorite Indian dish - Chicken Tikka Masala - at many local Indian restaurants in the bay area, and theirs is by far my favorite! They use white breast meat for this dish which, as a typical white American, I prefer to dark meat and the sauce is delicious. Upon calling the restaurant to inform them about the error the lady on the other end of the phone yelled at me and rudely informed me that I should contact Uber eats. It was ok'ish. Took my team here for dinner - and boy it was nothing I had hoped it would be. The quality of food was ok, but service was really poor. We have been to this place for dinner. Trust me this place is not for Indian authentic food lovers. The menu is overpriced, food tastes awful. We ordered a assorted veg pakora, the samosas served were either frozen or stale. Fish masala was the worst dish I ever had, no masala at all, just pieces of boiled fish dipped in tomato puree. The garlic naan was worst, I guess the flour mix was stale. Mango lassi was diluted with water. I would say this place is not for Indians. Brought 48 people here. Literally took up the whole restaurant. I was afraid they would be slow in filling up the buffet line, but the cook did an excellent job keeping up with group. Vegetarian selection was very good, though the non-vegetarian was limited with two chicken entree selection. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. I was pleasantly surprised by their Saturday night dinner buffet last week! They had so much variety, even for vegetarians. I loved the starters- they had a sweet potato fries, pav bhaji, mini dosas, mini bhaturas with chole, mini paranthas, and pakoras. The bhaturas were warm and chewy, and the fries were very tasty. For the vegetarian dinner they had paneer makhani which had plenty of paneer cubes in it (unlike at other buffets where it's only gravy), saag, black eyed beans, and other curries. They also had a nice selection of Indian-Chinese food, which is my favourite!! They had chow mein, chop-suez, gobi manchurian, and this really tasty Thai green curry with tofu. And I was way too full for dessert.. but they had some nice stuff that my family enjoyed. Would I go back? Maybe when I want classic Indian buffet food and I'm back in the Bay Area. read more

A friend of mine recommended this place for the lunch buffet so after he took the LSAT's, I decided to reward him for his hard work with this buffet. We were not disappointed. I sampled every meal dish there and I really enjoyed the variety of food from vegetarian, to meat dishes, to even the naan and other bread-like items. I can't handle spicy well but I survived with water and a mango lassi. For dessert, I had some mango soft-serve ice cream. I thought the food was fresh and tasty. I was glad to see many Indians here. I ordered twice from this restaurant. Once for Butter Chicken and another for tikka Masala. I'd thought there were rice and side dish included because the Masala cost 20 usd. Sadly, it turned out to be just a portion of butter chicken and tikka masala... which is so small for a male customer like me... So not recommending their products. We generally go to the Passage to India Bakery for the buffet on weekends, but one day, we decided to head to the restaurant for a change. Right off the bat, this weekend buffet is more expensive than the Bakery's buffet. But, it also offers more options, including about 4 meat options (lamb, two chicken and seafood), 3 dessert options plus mango ice cream, sambar, chaat station, and dosa. I certainly appreciate the variety, but to me, those additional options do not offer additional value that warrants the price. I can be happy stuffing myself silly at the Bakery. And for less! Also, beware of extra charges! Our waiter asked us if we wanted chai tea at the end of the meal. We said yes and he brought out two espresso cups of chai, which cost $2 each. He never mentioned that it would cost extra. So before you get that mango lassi, you should know what it's probably not included in the price of the buffet. The atmosphere is definitely more upscale than the Bakery. I do appreciate that there's cloth napkin and actual silverware, but I'm not sure it's worth the additional cost. The food is still tasty and fresh, but I'd rather spend my money at the Bakery's buffet. read more

My boyfriend LOVES Indian food, especially "all-you-can-eat". He first introduced me to the location adjacent to the bakery. I am nowhere close to being a vegetarian, so I had a hard time feeling satieted. And the selection was limited. So, the next time, we came here. Meat was definitely on the menu :) and there were tons of items on the buffet spread. I have difficulties with spicy foods, and was happy to find curries that were tolerable. The owner was there one night & I told her I wasn't sure what to eat that wasn't going to upset my stomach. She walked with me around the WHOLE buffet and put samples on my plate of foods that were "safe". How does customer service get any better than this? Needless to say, she was very, very sweet. I am only giving 1 start to the quality of food they served. Food was bad and the service was okay. We 5 of us went for dinner at 7:20 PM tonight. There were about 20 people in the restaurant. We started with snacks area such as dosa. Liked the idea of mini dosa. But dosa was cold but it was not too bad. However, things went south after that. Mutton curry - cold and rubbery, I did not touch any chicken dishes -- one of our members tried it and did not like it. Likewise, many other dishes were cold felt old. Any reason I am giving star more than 1 is because of its ambiance, seating area and enough dishes variety. Maybe we arrived late for the buffet but food quality and taste was unacceptable. Normally good desserts change my views and moods but unfortunately they had minimal left. They had icecream dispenser but were short of cones. All the variety that they serve cannot make up for the fundamental shortcomings. I sampled most of the dishes and was still hungry after the dinner. The only second serving I went for was curd Raita. Pretty tasty indian food. We got the chicken curry and paneer with tomato sauce with garlic naan and everything was delicious. Service was courteous and fast. We had originally wanted to order chicken tikka masala, the paneer, or butter chicken and the waiter told us they were all the same sauce...which apparently is the sauce I like. Just for variation we changed to chicken curry which was great. Food is very hot when it comes up. We could've used more naan/rice for two people...but I think it was pretty cheap and we should've just gotten a second order. Passage to India has consistently left me wanting for better food. There's nothing totally wrong with the place, per se but I have never had a satisfying meal there - be it a buffet or not. It is average at best. This is probably the fourth time I visited - this one after almost a year - so that I could see whether I feel differently, but I don't. The dishes are decently prepared but often there are a few things that prevent them from being great. Potato not cooked enough, too much oil in a dish, rotis a bit too crisp - these things add up. I generally order food with waiter.com and with multiple try with different sabji I have come to the conclusion that none of the sabji is worth ordering. Simple kadhi looked as if there is so much acid added, it was sourest kadhi that no one would like to eat more than one bite. The baigan bharta looks and tastes so artificial as if it is the gravy of any other sabji. I generally like to give good reviews only. But my repeated experience has led me write this review. We tried the weekend dinner buffet and sadly we were not impressed. The food was cold and looked and tasted stale. The chaat corner looked so non palatable. The pav bhaji and masala dosa were tasteless. Saag aalu, malai kofta, veg manchurian, veg noodles, tandoori chicken, veg and chicken biryani were decent and fish pakora, goat curry and gulab jamun were good. The pastry was dry and stale. Every dish was excellent, from great tandoori chicken to my favorite, the goat curry, and everything in between. This review is on a take out order, but it was still quite good. I got the chicken tikka kabob with the rice and naan. The chicken was moist with a little spicy kick to it. The naan was a little flat, but had a good chewy texture and flavor. The low light was the rice, not much flavor and too greasy. I have been eating at this place for 10-12 years and has really gone down and needs to shut down. During Diwali week they used to have amazing sweets and specials. Visited today for lunch buffet and the selection was pretty limited. The curries were watery, salty, with no flavor. A really good meal for not too much money. The food was wonderful, although it sinks to the bottom of your stomach like a lead weight. The portions don't look large when they are served, but be forewarned. The three of use ordered the veggie samosas, the saag paneer, the aloo gobhi, and the lamb karahi, and took more than half of it home. The saag was good, although very rich. The lamb was similarly masterful, but again a bit heavy. The decor is very nice and colorful, and the service was just attentive enough.
