Starting with the food, their jalapeno gnocchi has been very talked-about and even the waiter recommended it. However, I went with the regular gnocchi with spicy vodka tomato cream sauce. The pasta was extremely well cooked, and it melts right away in your mouth. The sauce was very flavorful, rich, and spicy, but just a little salty for my taste. However, I would 100% get the same gnocchi with pesto sauce or try the jalapeno one. The gnocchi was truly the highlight and when craving reasonably priced (~15) Italian food, I would surely come back to this restaurant. Additionally, they give you complementary bread with your meal. Lastly, the service was very good and the waiter was knowledgeable. The food came out in a good time and overall, a great place for some Italian fix. My favorite is the gnocchi, there is a really good jalapeño option, I often get the regular in pesto which is also incredible. Recently there was a seasonal option for pumpkin ravioli in a brown butter sage sauce that was drool worthy. There is a great baked goat cheese app that is red sauce based with bread. So tasty. There is street parking nearby. The inside is relatively small so there can be a wait to be seated. Service is great, attentive and quick. Worth a visit for sure! I only have good things to say about Pasta Palazzo! My boyfriend and I had some time to kill in Lincoln Park, so we decided to roam the streets and let the cravings come to us. After seeing a sign for pasta I was pretty much sold. The staff was very friendly and we had no problem being seated for dinner on a Saturday night. We started with the garlic bread. What a hit! I don't know if it's possible for me to dislike any combination of garlic and carbs, but it was perfectly soft and toasted. We then shared 2 pastas: Penne Con Salsiccie and Cavatappi Pollo. You'd expect it to be warm and toasted like most restaurants but it was straight up cold like it was never even heated. Which was fine because it was free so I'm not factoring it in my rating, but you might as well just not wrap it in foil, instead serve it on a plate, and save the money. The olive oil they have sitting out tasted old but they also have tons of condiments to season it so that's a plus. The bruschetta and pasta were definitely ok, you get what you paid for. The bruschetta was complete soggy at the bottom due to the balsamic vinegar so I would recommend eating it quickly. It was like four bucks so whatever. But I am so sad because I was really excited for the pasta. The pasta was completely drenched in watery sauce and overcooked. It reminded me of chef boyardees which was nostalgic. Pasta Palazzo is a fairly small space. You can sit at the counter and watch your food being made right in front of your eyes. I was worried that we would have a long wait for 10 people on a Friday night. I was very surprised (and happy) that they were able to seat us within minutes (6 of us at a high top table and 4 at the counter). We tried the sangria and it was good. Lots of ice so it went down so fast! We tried a variety of dishes and our favorites were the risotto special (broccoli, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes and chicken), farfalle Alfredo, linguine pesto cream and the jalapeño gnocchi. Some of the dishes that were a miss for us were the pasta special with shrimp and spinach. There was a very strong shrimp flavor that gave the pasta an odd after taste. The ravioli special came with 5 raviolis and the cheese filling was just ok. The grilled calamari tasted good but it was a very small portion size. Honestly, it's hard for me to write a review about a business that doesn't even care about Yelp enough to claim their business page. As soon as you get on the same street as Pasta Palazzo, you can smell the garlic cooking, and the scent leads you right into a tiny and always-packed family pasta shop. If you like pasta at all, this place will not disappoint. My first time here, I tried to famous jalapeño gnocchi, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. The red pepper sauce and the flavorful but not too spicy little gnocchis are so unique together, and I seriously could eat it for every meal. But, I made a pact with myself that I would try every pasta on the menu (I like pasta, okay?), so I don't order it all the time. Luckily, everything is good too! Personally, the Alfredo and other cream-based dishes are less impressive - too oily for my taste - but anything with wine or tomato sauce is outstanding. Last night, I had the healthy primavera packed with broccoli, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, and spaghetti, all in a fantastic garlic-and-wine-heavy sauce. Probably my second-favorite pasta on the menu. But, surprisingly, the greatest thing on the entire menu, even better than the very best pasta, is the tomato dill soup. Who knew that a touch of dill and a bit of rice would make a classic soup so incredible? Plus, it comes out fresh and piping hot. I joke about ordering it by the gallon, but I might just do that one day. Me and my husband stopped by to check this place out. We ordered a special dish of risotto and it was decent overall but lacked flavor and could have used some salt. The rice was cooked well but they added red pepper. This made it more of a Spanish dish. The SAKS's was good and fresh! Both pasta dishes were bland and lacked serious flavor. Oily! Sitting in gobs of oil! Swimming in tasteless sauces! Overcooked and mushy. My tortellini tasted like an overpowering taste of garlic and Alfredo sauces are supposed to have a hint of garlic depending upon taste but this tasted like I was eating just garlic. I wanted to like it but we contacted Grubhub and asked for refund. The only thing we liked was the salad. So here is my advice should you be considering dining here. The place is just a hole in the wall but friendly vibes. Service was incredibly slow and she seemed annoyed when I tried getting her attention to ask for water or possibly something else. Again she was too busy and needed a a waitress! I am not certain why their were so many "to go" orders since we were not impressed with the quality of the food. It was so delicious. The sauce that comes with it is so flavorful, I would literally drink it as a soup. However the Gnocchi itself was so good and not too heavy on the stomache. I did not order meat with it and was full, but if you are super hungry or just have to have a protein with your pasta you do have the option to do so.
