If it were possible, I'd give this a 3.5. We went for a date night on a Sunday and the restaurant was empty which gave us a little pause, but decided to stay. It's campus during the summer, so that makes sense. My husband got chicken parmigiana and I got the prosciutto portabello ravioli. The chicken was tasty, and the vodka sauce on my ravioli was really good. They served garlic bread with the meal, which I was grateful to have to soak up the tasty sauce. NOT GOOD -Fake food- Ordered through UberEats... so take that as you will. It said buy one get one on select pasta and shrimp & corn chowder which sounded fine to us. For one, the price of a plate of paste was $30 dollars... $30 DOLLARS!!! I have since looked online for their in-house prices ($17). So they are adjusting their BOGO price to adjust for their loss by nearly 100%. For comparison, Cento in GV is an excellent, authentic, and expensive Italian restaurant and its pasta dishes were cheaper than this by several dollars Whatever, right? Maybe the food is good. Hmmm? The shrimp corn chowder was shrimp flavored broth with 3.5 shrimp between the two bowls. Chowder is historically thick and chunky... this was murky water. Enough said there. As for the pasta dish, it was pictured as chicken cutlets in a vodka sauce. I would be absolutely astounded to find out that the chicken in our dish was NOT Tyson frozen slices. I know this when I see It and it was if anything, simply frozen and reheated junk. So they overcharged us by 75% (and that is an understatement) for food that was completely obviously frozen grocery store aisle microwave "food." If you love paying fine dining level prices for 1990's era high school cafeteria level food, then this is the place for you. read more

Visited 26 JUL 2024 We got carryout for an evening spent with the toddler grandson, so the parents could have a date night. We were in town visiting family. It was a fun evening. Once the little fella went down for the night we watched this great movie called IF [Imaginary Friends]. I needed this setup for context on what I am going to say about the food. It was fine, I ate all of my spaghetti and meatballs, my wife and the little one ate all of her Alfredo with added broccoli. We also got a pizza box full of breadsticks (the ordering was a little vague according to the spouse. This was our first time at the place so it wasn't clear that garlic bread was already included with the entrees. All good, we left behind a weeks worth of breadsticks. It wasn't however as good as I expected it to be, maybe it sat a little long. The texture of the noodles was off a bit, that weird space of being a bit overcooked, but "dry" at the same time. The texture of the meatball was off as well, as if there were filler that didn't quite get incorporated. If they are handmade this was an off batch, if frozen, I think its not a premium product. My wife described her broccoli as the wrong side of crisp, maybe overcooked, of cooked earlier and sitting in a warmer somewhere so got past just right. The sauce (again perhaps a time thing) "broke" as she was finishing the dish and attending to little man. There was also a lack of cheese backing to the Alfredo. Overall the flavors were muted, something I encountered all week at various places, must be the Midwest audience that local places have adjusted their recipes to satisfy. I get it, you want to be broadly appealing. Pasta Villa is okay, I'm sure they do well, and the true locals are satisfied. If we were in town again, I would be inclined to eat in, and maybe try some others things. The time in the to-go packaging may not have been in the chef's favor. read more

Was out and about and have wanted to go to Pasta Villa. I had been to this place about 15 years ago. Phenomenal then. Today I would say it has definitely changed hands since I had been here. I entered and sat at a booth. Only one person working, he was having a heated conversation on the phone. He finally came out and took my order and brought me water as I requested. I ordered Lasagna which came with Garlic Bread. The bread was slightly burnt but was tasty. Ordered the Lasagna, a nice tomato taste which slightly chunky tomatoes in the sauce. The menu was pretty standard Italian, but with some extras (goat cheese or lobster ravioli, etc.) I got a meat pizza for me- good crust, good sauce, good cheese, good toppings. Baby K got the kid's spaghetti: good spaghetti, good huge meatballs, good sauce, and a large portion. We shared cheese bread and mozzarella sticks- good but not exceptional, just standard sides. We picked the booth nearest to the front door so we would have light. There was only 1 person was working the entire restaurant. He was our server and the cook. We placed our order and the food arrived 26 min later, unacceptable. None of the food was cooked to order. Everything had a soggy, bland, chewy and leftover taste. None of the food came out hot. Long wait with no free smells. Seriously, we smelled nothing while our food was being prepared, so it wasn't too surprising when it came out tasting like yesterday's microwaved leftovers. This is a nice Italian takeaway spot near the Ohio State University campus. There is a dining room but they are only doing take out now. There is parking up front on High Street or in the back. Although the dining room is closed they should have more lights on inside. It seems a little dark and sad. It was that sort of vibe. Regardless I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and the Italian wedding soup. The soup was perfect--not too salty and had a good amount of "stuff" in the soup. These folks offer an 8 slice, 16" New York Style cheese pizza that's a fair value for the money. Just $10 gets you a whole pie that's easily big enough to feed a couple of you hungry people. Now that's not a typo my friends. Trading a Hamilton for a large cheese pizza equals $1.25 per slice of cheesy New York heaven. It's probably one of the better pizza deals in the campus area. The only thing that keeps this from being five stars is that they are a little "generous" with the crust. Ahem, so what that means is that they could put more toppings on that pie but then, if they did, they'd charge more for it. (Can't have everything can we?) In any case, if it were me, the next time I'd ask for some sort of sauce (marinara or ranch) to dip that crust into if and enjoy. Now this pizza has that great classic NY fold and what tastes like a real house made sauce with a decent amount of cheese on it. Baked to perfection, it's going to satisfy most anyone's pizza craving. If you're not in the mood for pizza, there's also a full Italian menu to explore and from what the other reviewers are saying, I need to go back and check out some more of them too. I'm glad I took a chance on this little Italian bistro just north of the OSU campus on High Street. It's definitely a great new-ish addition to that strip of land between campus and Clintonville. The lobster bisque isn't a normal thick soup it looks like a broth and tasted very oily and gross. They brought out some garlic bread, which was just a piece of texas toast, toasted with garlic butter and herbs. My wife said the scampi was good. I don't remember it normally having that much onion strips, or large chunks of tomato in it. Another odd thing was that the shrimp still had their tails on. The veal and eggplant was very good. The sauce had a hint of heat to it, but not overly spicy at all. Next time, I would probably do without the eggplant, just because the veal overshadows it, and the eggplant gets lost. The lobster bisque was decent, but nothing to write home about. I did not notice chunks of meat in it like I find at some places.
