Some of the best Mexican we've had in Atlanta. We used to live on the west coast and got spoiled by the availability of top notch food at every mom and pop shop around. Not quite the case here in Atlanta, so we keep looking for our go-to. This is not quite a mom & pop with its fine dining prices and atmosphere, but the quality was the same. My Husband and I had an amazing experience at Peta Negra Mezcaleria restaurant. I was so impressed. I was a little skeptical at first, because I thought it would be super expensive and the entire menu was in Spanish. However, our server was very patient while explaining the dishes to us. We are both Vegetarian and were pleased that our server was knowledgeable about which items we could eat. The food was so delicious. Definitely worth the cost, which turned out to be reasonably priced after all. The valet parking, upscale decor and great customer service starting the moment we reached the Hostess stand, tells you everything you need to know about this restaurant. Oh. My. God. This was the best restaurant experience I've had in a very long time, and definitely the best one in Atlanta. My cousin and I split dishes since we wanted to try multiple entrees. I was a bit nervous about trying the ceviche-we are landlocked and ceviche is hit or miss in most places outside of the states. But it was great!! We also had the tuna tostadas, guacamole and the scallops dish and everything was amazing! Presentation and flavors were so good. My cousin opted for a mezcal tasting and she was extremely pleased with it!! Service was quick, and the restaurant itself was just beautiful. This is not a restaurant to go to for large groups and watch out for the fees. Went with a group of 12 and our server did a horrible job. We had to flag her down several times for refills. We had to flag her down to place our food orders. Worse yet, they did not put in one of our orders so we all waited 10 minutes as our food got cold for the last person to get their food. When it came to the bill, they said they could not split checks for a large party, only smaller parties. They then automatically gave the server who did a poor job a 20% gratuity and then charged us another 10% "tax" for using a credit card (at least a 7% profit for them). So poor service and fees. Garage parking with validation. Attentive service. Delicious food! I came here for a girls' brunch and it did not disappoint. I was surprised it wasn't busier given the menu, decor, and parking situation. The food didn't take long (even though the waiter did forget it initially), but it was worth the wait. I tried the chicken tacos which consisted of three mini tacos. If you're hungry, you will want more. The cinnamon roll French toast was absolutely decadent. I'm going back just for those! I do not write very many reviews, but this place was spectacular! The vibe is relaxed. The space is gorgeous, warm, inviting, and sexy. Service was impeccable. The manager David came by, and clearly cared about our experience. We started with the guacamole which was fresh and seasoned to perfection. The large, round, home made tortilla chips were incredible in taste, texture, and unique in presentation. We also tried a completely original take on salsa, the Huasteca. It had a nice kick, slightly sweet and an almost creamy texture....delicious. We both had the Cuna De Piedra cocktail. Something like a grapefruit margarita garnished with fresh fruit in a heavy pottery-like bowl that required both hands to hold and drink, in what was described as the traditional fashion. My entree was the Poblanas De Pollo. Basically chicken enchiladas in a creamy poblano pepper and corn sauce. Hands down the most delicious Mexican dish I've ever experienced. The sauce seemed so rich and decadent, that I'm afraid to think of how many calories were involved. My partner had the Tacos Arabes which were delicious and beautifully presented. We shared the beautiful Dama Nocturna desert, a rich but somehow lite tasting chocolate, caramel, expresso and passion fruit creation. The attached parking is validated (know your license plate number) and steps from an interior lobby entrance. By far the most completely enjoyable dining experience we've had in years. I went to Pata Negra for brunch today and I liked it overall. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is how effortless parking was. You literally follow the signs for the garage and your parking is validated by the restaurant for 3 hours. Upon entering the restaurant I thought that the interior of the restaurant was a bit dark and dimly lit! The host was very friendly and helpful and also doubled as our server. I started my meal by ordering a Beet Mimosa which I thought was unique. My mimosa tasted a bit earthy but was decently strong and enjoyable. The food was amazing, my friends and I had several items. The cinnamon French toast Dulce, Tacos Arabes , Chilaquiles, andthe Barbacoa Piedra. Everything was delicious, fresh and cooked at the perfect temperature. The only thing that annoyed me at the restaurant was the fact that our server did not write our orders down and had to come back like 10-15 minutes later to reconfirm what we wanted and we were pretty hungry by that point. We have been to Pata Negra 3 times since they opened -- once each for dinner, lunch, and brunch. I can't say which is my favorite, all are great. We love what Octavio (the owner) is bringing to Atlanta with this creative menu. The aguachile (it's steak!) is particularly yummy, and the scallop entree lives rent-free in my memory now. If you like mezcal, you should definitely speak with the bartenders or manager about finding something new here -- they have a massive selection of lots of different varieties. read more

The dim lighting with a sexy ambiance was a perfect start to my Friday night. My group had ten people. Our amazing waiter came over, making sure we all had menus and their yummy pork skin table snacks. Our waiter began taking our drink & food orders. Let me say this, The presentation of each dish, arrived fresh to order. Pata Negra, Entrees are shareable with a hearty portion size. Junior, the bartender made us delicious Mezcal Margarita's, others had the Pata Negra cocktail & for the non drinkers, there's also a Non-Alcoholic menu. For my Entree go-to was the Mejillones A LA Maximiliana.. mouth watering delicious, packed with spices if you love Octopus. Everyone had an amazing time & left extremely satisfied. I booked a reservation here for Valentine's Day a couple weeks ago and we were so excited to try this new place out. On Feb.14 we got all fancied up and walk up to the door only to find it locked. No signs were on the door or windows, we checked their Instagram and they had recently posted earlier that day that they were excited to celebrate with us. Obviously we were confused on why it seemed closed. This restaurant's main entrance is inside the lobby of an apartment or condo building so we asked the concierge what was going on and even he didn't know but left to find a manager. The manager eventually met with us, apologized for having to close, and took our phone number so she could reach back out to us "by the end of the week" and make this up to us. Unfortunately, she never did. So I waited another week. Still nothing. I will note that eventually I did see they had called me earlier that day saying they had to close. Obviously I didn't see that until after we showed up but still, on Valentine's Day there's no shot at getting another reservation same-day. We settled with El Azteca across the road and were stared at for being so dressed up. Very disappointing experience read more

This place was AMAZING!!!! The decor and atmosphere was amazing. Was expecting this place to be packed wall to wall and was surprised it wasn't. We came for brunch and loved every aspect of it. Our server was Stephanie and she was so sweet and knowledgeable of the food, cocktails and mezcal flights offered both on and off the menu. The food was easily the BEST FOOD I've eaten all year! The portions are generous and the price point is honestly a steal for the level this place is performing at!! Meant to take more pictures but we kept digging in immediately bc it all looked and tasted so good. The cocktails we so thought out and balanced as well.
