Great new find in the OC! Reminds me a little bit of Yancy's Saloon in SF. Decent sized bar with pool tables, dart boards, and a shuffleboard table. Drinks are decently priced ~$6 beers. You'd never know from the outside that this is such a cool bar. It looks like a shabby bar, connected to a hourly-rate motel...but it was pretty cool inside. Lots of space, lots of games and as many young people from the OC you can find. No weirdos..just lots of kids having a drink. I'd definitely stop in here again. read more

Very friendly bartenders, reasonably priced drinks and not overly crowded. I asked the older bartender for a screwdriver and got a screwdriver in a glass of ice. Patrick's is great because it isn't your pretentious trendy bar scene, it is a typical dive bar with a juke box, pool tables, darts, shuffleboard, and stiff drinks. This is great little spot for a quick beer and a game of shuffle board. The bartenders a super friendly. I came here with some friends for my birthday and the bartender was just feeding me drinks all night. I was still standing when closing time rolled around to the bartenders astonishment and to my victory. HA. They have a few pool tables for anyone thats interested. There is a back patio for smokers. Often a locals joint there was a group of 6 people that showed up who seem to be there pretty often. Super relaxed location with CLEAN bathrooms. Dosent look the most exciting from the outside and the place can be kind of empty at times but still a good spot for a quick pit stop. read more

Definitely a place "where everybody knows your name", but they're cool to newcomers as well. It's cool to come here for a bit and play some pool, although the local pool sharks are usually busy playing. But wait your turn and you'll get to play. They also have shuffle board, which is always fun. You'll definitely meet some new people here. Me and a friend chose this pub randomly because it was the closest pub nearby the foodtruck gathering we were having afterwards. It was a typical Irish pub, nothing too special. They had a few pool tables, a shuffle board, foosball table, and a few arcade games. I guess the only downside of the bar is that they don't have any beers on tap! :[ So we ended up just ordered a few bottles of beer. Pricing is decent for a dive. You can play darts, pool and shuffle board. If you are a smoker you can't take drinks to the smoking section outdoors but it is close by. The staff and the locals are friendly as well. There is a juke box that take credit cards so you can enjoy your own choice of music while drinking and playing. Four stars because if you are paying with a card it's a $20 minimum and you can't take drinks to the smoking section. Other than that it's a fun experience. Check it out! read more

This is one of my favorite bars... It has pool, shuffleboard, and fooseball plus other things. One of the few places where it can be crowded, but you don't feel claustrophobic. There's a jukebox which sucks sometimes if everyone is broke, then it's dead silent. But overall drinks are cheap and there's games to play :) The crowd is very mellow; the occasional really drunk girl asking to take it in the back-door comes around (true story, witnessed the whole conversation myself!), but it's pure entertainment! Seriously if you don't like it here, go back to your strobes and disco ball. read more

I love the divey ambiance. They have shuffle board which makes me very happy. The bartenders are always exceptional and provide great service. My only qualms with Patrick's and the reason I don't give it five stars is the parking on a busy night and the fact that they don't have any beers on tap. Just your average bottle brews are what is on the menu and they share a parking lot with a Super 8 Motel. But overall a great hangout if you don't mind the dive scene. read more

A friend once said "You don't go to Pat's 'cuz you're normal" and I concur. It's a good local watering hole - divey and not too hipsterish (yet). This is the best dive bar in Costa Mesa I have been to. The staff is the nicest I have encountered in a while. I have spent two New Years in a row there now and definitely planning on spending the next there as well. It is in walking distance to my house so I don't have to worry about the small parking lot, which can be annoying if you drove... But hey you shouldn't be drinking and driving anyway. Darts are free, just need to give them your ID and on the weekends a taco truck parks outside. Not to mention they have a menu book you can order and have delivered to the bar. The crowd isn't your typical young hip newport bar crowd, and that's what I like about it. read more

Huge bar area. Actually, the whole place is huge. Pool tables, shuffleboard, etc. Kind of has a quirky, old school, been around 40ish years sort of vibe to it. Bartender was on top of her game, very friendly and very aware of her clientele's drink needs. I went on a Sunday afternoon, and the locals were friendly, the jukebox was chugging out solid tunes, the TV's were showing sports (golf, nascar, soccer, etc) and despite being a relatively older bar it was very clean. My boyfriend and I go to Patrick's all the time and I don't know when we will ever stop going. The bartenders are sooo nice and genuinely care how things are going. Vinny, the owner, is awesome and always really welcoming. If you are having a shitty day, Edie is the bartender to go to because she will crack you up! The people that find her vulgar need to loosen up. It's really rare to find bartenders in OC this nice. Most other places it feels like bartenders forget they get tipped. They have the video touch game (my favorite), a jukebox, pool and shuffle board to keep you entertained throughout the night. Some nights it gets really crowded; it's very hit or miss. I love this bar! My husband grew up on the East Coast, where your local bar is a place you go to relax and catch up with friends. Patrick's Pub is just that kind of place--the Bartenders are friendly and attentive. I have never had to wait for a drink and they always remember what you order. Underwhelming. No taps whatsoever, just bottles of stuff that is standard brews. No craft. They don't seem to want to change it, been there a few times and the place has a lot of potential. Nice shuffleboard table, also have two pool tables, and a "smoking" patio. read more

This is a kick ass place. Prices are right. Drinks are stiff and... they have plenty of tables, a great jukebox and Golden tee. Bartenders are solid. This is a borderline dive bar. My friend and I showed up. She asked about other bars in town and the bartender reaction was "I'm not going to serve you, you are to drunk." Not knowing we are both bartenders.. not cool. Would not recommended this place. Not only was that Disrespectful that was humiliating due to several patrons sitting at the bar waiting a reaction. Seemed to be his "roadies." So sad. read more
