Pleasant atmosphere- perfect temperature, appropriate sports shows on tv

Consistent, excellent food and service, in an impeccable establishment. No luxury, but very well appointed, with pretty live plants in the skylight room- my favorite! I had a cream of asparagus soup and veal franchaise, over angel hair. Tina took great, attentive care of me. Way to go! I continue to come back, never once disappointed. Value received, for sure! Highly recommend for solo diners- sports tv at long counter; small groups or large gatherings.

Several return visits since the last review have warmed me up again on Pat's Diner on Broad Strret, Trenton, NJ. I have stuck with my favorite breakfast, the Greek Omelet, and been perfectly satisfied. Three egger, loaded with home fried potatoes, Italian Sweet Sausage, onion, pepper, tomato. When straight from the hot steel, it is a wet, delicious mess, that puts a smile on my face every time. Rye toast and unlimited Bunn coffee makes me a very ahoy guy. Tina was my accommodating server a few days ago. I remembered her from prior visits. She was attentive and willing to interact when asked questions about her job and the Pat's scene. The joint is showing its age, but as an example of the old railroad car stainless diner, it remains a champ. Going back to 4 Stars for its consistency over the past few years.

We drove a few more minutes because of the reviews and it was completely worth it. Best diner of the trip. Service was fabulous but the food was excellent! Quality, Taste, and Huge amounts. We started with the crab and mushroom app, chicken empanada, and veg soup. 4 words, "melt in your mouth." Next the entrees were just as flavorful. The turkey burger was flavorful, moist, and Not gamey. Most excellent. The turkey platter was wonderful as was everything else. When we find our way back North, this is the stop!!

2 eggs over hard bacon hash browns and pancakes. Pancakes very good. Portion plentiful.

Friendly clean diner. It's a diner. Like a train car diner. Its cute. Staff is accommodating and coffee was fresh and hot. Food was lukewarm and not hot. Our group ate the following meals. 2 eggs over hard. Bacon Hash browns and pancakes Hamburger with fries coleslaw and pickles Chicken pot pie which came with a side and pudding jello or ice cream. Got the rice pudding to go. It was fresh and very good. Pancakes were very good. Hash browns good. Meal Could have been hotter. Hamburger was good and price is very good it is a great value. Chicken pot pie was ok. It was meh. Rice pudding fresh and good. Would return and try other meals. Good amount of menu options.

Waitress name was Denise, she was so friendly and attentive, I ordered T bone steak mid well it was on point flavor and all potatoes were soft the coffee don't know what brand , but it was delicious. My husband had the deluxe steak sandwich, he said it was less meat on steak mostly bread. But my food was on point. Lol

Visiting family and we got there super early so we decided to stop here for a quick breakfast. Essentially we ordered breakfast meals. I had pancakes with bacon and my gf had a ham, egg and cheese on an English muffin. The food was good but it's not like you can really mess up the order. I was not happy with the bacon it was a bit over cooked. I am not a fan of the overly crispy bacon.

Humongous Reuben and French Fries. Side of coleslaw and Russian Dressing with pickle.

I love Pat's. A long-time true diner in Trenton. Huge portions for the price. Extensive menu.

Recently, I rounded out Mercer County by going to my last diner (as of now) in the County. Even though it's one of the smaller counties, it is the first county I've completed. I arrived on a Sunday around brunch time and it wasn't overly crowded. I was hungry and happy to quickly get a table. Atmosphere: The diner looks like a locals favorite. It's fairly big with plenty of booths, tables, and a full length bar. The booths are cramped and I felt like I was sharing my meal with everyone. Coffee: The coffee took a while to get to us but once it did; it was one of the better coffees I've had. Food: Pat's Original Diner has many different options from breakfast, to lunch, and dinner. They don't have a lot of healthy options so if you're looking for that, this might not be your stop. I have been twice now and the second time I decided to order the French toast and Taylor ham. The French toast had cinnamon baked in which I definitely appreciated. It was light and fluffy. The scrambled eggs and Taylor ham were both good. Service: The waitress was nice but she didn't come around much. I could have used a lot more water and refills. M Overall/Summary: In all, Pats Original Diner started off rough but it did get better.

This is only one of there great dishes witch is Rigatoni Vodka

Entire staff primarily speaks Spanish and aren't properly trained enough to even know how to take an order at your table. The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. Maybe wait a few years and try them, if they happen to stay open by some miracle.

Unfortunately, the food was very subpar. I'm not sure what all the hype is about; the chicken even had feathers! Please wash your chicken completely--what a turn-off! As for the sides, the potato salad had an overwhelmingly strong mustard flavor. A little sugar could have balanced it out nicely. The green beans were good, but they really lacked flavor. Lastly, the cornbread was horrible--super dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for days. I couldn't finish dinner; that's how bad it was. I am so disappointed, especially since this was my first experience with this restaurant. ' My/our people' should know better than to serve this type of soul food.' Our forefathers and foremothers would be rolling over in their graves. Please, I urge you to taste the food you cook before serving it to customers. I won't be back anytime soon, if ever. Staff was friendly and on point from beginning to end. They do take the dress code seriously, I saw people get turned away for athletic wear. It's clear on their website and not asking too much for an upscale night out. Prices weren't ridiculous, especially since portions were plentiful. A lot of people were leaving with leftovers. The specialty drinks are a bit pricey tho. The cornbread and Mac n cheese are a must order the moment you sit down to start things off. Both served in a small skillet, perfect to share. The cornbread bread was flavorful and the butter that comes on top you def want to let that melt right in! The Mac n cheese noodles were a little softer than I would of preferred but the blend of cheeses and the crisp crust on top made me not worry about the doneness of the noodles, it was top notch! We went classic with the entrees - catfish with gulf shrimp. The catfish was cooked perfect super tender and flaky. I wasn't thrilled with the shrimp, for "gulf shrimp" as they listed in the menu they were a lot Smaller than I expected and a little tough. The sauce they came in was nice. I would have liked some kind of sauce on the side for the catfish. The collard green rice was delicious and the broccoli that came with it was prob the most delicious broccoli I've ever had, just cooked well in lots of butter! The other entree we got was the fried chicken. Really delicious and tender. It came with a sweet potato side that was yummy and a classic collard greens Even tho we were stuffed we had to try the bread pudding, it was served with a Side of delicious ice cream.
