However, there is one of their regulars (a friend of theirs an older Greek man), whom they allow to insult their other dining customers with his radical insults and narrow minded opinions. This is the best diner I've been to. In fact, so good, that I went twice in one day - for dinner before a concert a Sovereign Bank Arena, and afterwards for a midnight snack. A lot of eateries around here look totally sketchy, but when I saw that Pat's was packed, I thought I'd take a shot. Delicious, affordable, and service was great. This place fell far short of good comfort food that you typically find in a quality family diner. The waitresses care about your experience and show they care quite a bit, however caring cannot make up for overcooked, poor quality food. I ordered the Meatloaf when I went there. What is more a measure of comfort food than meatloaf? It was overcooked and dry like a piece of burnt toast, and about as thick. It was about as tasty as salt and pepper and the run of the mill brown gravy could make it. I prefer ketchup with my meatloaf, but this came smothered in brown gravy. I'm confident that using ketchup or gravy would have made zero difference in the taste. No excuse for poor meatloaf. I had fried mushrooms and grilled zucchini as my included sides. The mushrooms were fried until they were slightly less hard than a walnut and the breading was standard; not home-cooking like at all. The grilled zucchini was so over-cooked, I would have guessed it was under a heat lamp for more than an hour or two. I had the bread pudding for dessert and it was standard stuff. Far from really great home cooking, but actually closer to a home recipe taste than many fine dining restaurants that I have had it. On the bright side, the portions were sizable and the price was very affordable. My bill for soup, salad, dinner, dessert, a roll, and an iced tea was just barely over $10, not including tip. All of this, except the drink, was included in the dinner price. A very fair bargain in terms of quantity. It's open 24 hours, so if you are starving and don't have a lot of money when other places in the area have long since closed, it's there and it's open. If you are looking for good home cooking food, you can probably skip this place. If cheap food, lots of it, and quality doesn't matter is what you want, then give it a try. read more

Came in late on a Saturday night while staying in Trenton at the Wyndham hote and, surprisingly, there are very few options after midnight in Trenton. I read the other positive reviews and decided that I wanted a quick bite after a night out in Philly. I'm glad I did. The staff are friendly and service was quick. Honestly I'm a diner hopper- I love experiences different diners. I decided to try Pat's Diner which was recommend by one of my coworkers ( I work around the corner). When my boyfriend and I tried it- it was ok. The waitress was rude and gave off the impression that she didn't to be there. Which is fine- no one likes to go to work but if you relay on tips to survive be a little fricking friendly. She was also a dropper- you know the waitress that takes you order- drops it off and you never see her again... yeah... we LOVE those. Ok with that aside- the food was the worst part. I've been to TONS of diners and this one was MEH at best- I wouldn't go back. Their coffee tasted like mudd also had grinds in it. This place was enjoyable. The food was very yielding. Our waitress was kindly and highly attuned to our coffee needs. Actually, all of our needs. We were given many napkins. We were, some would same, rich in napkins. Beyond yielding, I would also say that the menu was very amicable and reminiscent. The portions were cosmic. We felt satiated and bulbous. Pats. I am conflicted with you, Pats. I don't know if I should give you 5 stars for the omelettes you serve or 1 star for your roast lamb. Therefore I give you 3 stars. I first came here because of another yelpers review. He spoke of a Greek omelette and the way he wrote about it made my mouth water. When I took that first bite of the omelette, it was and still is heaven. However, I recently had the roast lamb. I don't know what it was. It looked like roast turkey (the deli meat kind) smothered in sauce. The split pea sauce is amazing though. All the other sides are just good, nothing spectacular. I've tried almost all of their omelettes and they are all delicious. I'm not sure if I will try anything, as this roast lamb was not what I expected and I really don't wanna deal with something like that. Some other things about this place are the portions are more than enough and it's very very cheap. Also, there are a lot of old people here, giving it a old school feel. The waitresses are pretty cool too, except for one that I don't know how to describe without sounding racist. She was horrible. Other than that, I will def come back for the omelettes. read more

Not really a review, just a little reminiscence. My mother was a waitress here in 50's/early 60's. I can remember my brother and I walking from our house on Andrew St. to Pat's Diner (maybe 4 blocks) for dinner on Fridays when Mom worked the early dinner shift. We always got the hot turkey sandwich dinner with cole slaw and mashed potatoes. It was so yummy. Once a week, when she worked the night shift, she would bring home fresh donuts that she would buy from the "donut guy" who came in at 4 a.m. before she got off work. We moved from the area a few years later and I haven't been back since. It will be on my list of places when I visit Trenton once again. read more

Horrible service. Don't like writing bad reviews unless warranted. Walked in with my boys for a lunch date with wife. Was told to "go to that table" with an arm raise. Saw table still being cleared so we waited. Told again to "go to that table" so we waited again. Then Host walked to table and put menus down and said "come". I motioned to have table cleaned since I saw plates removed and utensils cleared it was not cleaned. He says "clean". So I motion politely again to which I get same response. We then walked out and when host stuck head out door he says "it clean". That was the last time we will ever go there again, to say the least. When we all pay extra for our food we buy out the supplies to keep said establishment are built into the price. When I think that a table I am eating on is unclean I can only assume that the food preperations must be just as horrid. read more

Pat's is the greatest. The food is good, the waitresses are great and the owner, John, goes out of his way to make you feel like family. You are greeted with a smile immediately and if for some reason you are dissatisfied with your food or have a complaint of any kind he is right there to correct the situation and make your dining experience a pleasant one. I have been going there since I was a kid. I've seen many changes taken place and I must say that it is my favorite place to eat not only for the food but because John and his staff treat everyone with the utmost respect. Well i got to say, if your looking for a really good meal, this is the place, you get allot for your cash. I got a pork chop dinner. this is what you get. Soup and salad, 3 thick broiled chops, side of apple sauce and choice of 2 sides, dessert. Get this all for 11.99$ wow what a deal! The chops were cut nice and thick, good basic seasoned and juicy! the cooks in the back are good, i got french onion soup, really good, good flavor, you would never think? I have been there 3 other times and each time all the food was great. I had vodka rigatoni, with salad, and dessert for 9$, the pasta was cooked to order, aldente, in a dinner? well i would recommend this place in a heart beat.
