We had a minimal wait to get a table for four on a Sunday late-morning. Service was quick, food (diner-style fare) was good. Our table ordered chipped beef on toast, a BLT, French toast, and the fried flounder -- everyone said their meal was fine. Enjoyed breakfast this morning. I had the blueberry pancake which was bigger than the plate. It was light and fluffy with the right amount of blueberries throughout. Husband had the combo platter with two eggs, bacon and a humongous biscuit and gravy. He said it was good. Coffee hit the spot. Definitely a local institution. Once again Pat's Riverfront Cafe is a pleasure. There is a reason it is consistently packed. We discovered this hidden gem in 2013 just as we were in the area on vacation, and we went several times that week for breakfast. This diner is a nice local spot with a great view; however the service is lacking. It took us about 45 minutes to get our breakfast which was not a complicated order. When it arrived we were short a side order of bacon and hashbrowns. We went ahead and ate and waited - not sides came. When we were finished with our meal we pointed out again that we never got our sides to another waiter who came by. She apologized and said she would bring right out. We asked for it to go since we were done with our meal. About 10 minutes later, I had paid the bill and still no sides. Our server finally acknowledged us and said it would be a few more minutes. There was a pile of hashbrowns on the griddle and I would think a surplus of bacon somewhere. The meal was just ok - nothing to rave about. read more

A homey greasy-spoon diner stuck incongruously behind a tiny marina; a hidden gem. To find your way into Pat's, turn just north of the giant boathouse (you'll see it) and head into the lot toward the river. After you've parked, take in the sailboats bobbing on the Intracoastal, then follow the porch toward the smell of coffee, grease, and good cheer. You'll see the cook through the window up front, tentatively mixing a lumpy bowl of batter with an enormous whisk. It's that kind of joint. The food here is good, simple diner food. Eggs, grits, toast, meat, etc. Sandwiches and soup for lunch. The fish from my breakfast was respectable flounder of the frozen-and-pre-breaded variety. But for $5.99 with 2 eggs and grits...sheesh, it was fine. You'll be hard pressed to spend more than 10 bucks a head here. The location is top notch, the service is friendly and quick...a real winner. Other things: cash only, open for breakfast and lunch only, they do serve beer (Bud) and--oddly enough--mimosas. Fish, grits, and champagne on the Intracoastal. Tell me where you can beat that. read more

While in Daytona on a family vacation, we've been trying to look for smaller local places to eat via Yelp instead of going to the gaggle of pizza joints and fast food places near the hotel. We tried Pat's Riverfront Cafe for breakfast one morning and had a great breakfast for very reasonable prices. It is a cash-only place, so remember to bring some. Date: 04/06 around 9AM We were able to sit down immediately, although it was surprisingly crowded. The seating area is pretty small, but you can't beat the ambiance. A tiny building sitting next to a small marina on the intercoastal waterway, and there is some outdoor seating available (picnic tables under a tent). Staff is very friendly and pointed out the specials. They helped each other to keep everyone serviced, and we got our food very quick Ordered: * Scrambler (one of the specials) -- 3 eggs with 2 meats and topped with cheese, with homefries and 2 toast. * Ham and Cheese omelet, with grits and toast. * Kids pancake meal (1 pancake, 1 slice bacon + drink) -- this was in the shape of Mickey Mouse! * Kids French Toast meal (2 pieces, 1 slice bacon + drink) Coffee + lg OJ + 2 milks Food was great, portion size was just right, everyone was satisfied. Price point is great. Not a fancy place, but had everything we wanted for a vacation meal. It's a hole-in-the-wall, but as most Yelpers know, that's where the real treasures are. In my opinion, there's a lack of places to eat here that aren't chains and completely overrun with other travelers, so this was a real find for us. I've been coming to Pat's for breakfast for years when I'm in Daytona. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall, but with a lot of character. I think the most expensive thing on the menu was the eggs benedict for somewhere around $8.99, and the staff is great. Not necessarily the healthy choice, but definitely the right spot if you are burnt out on the touristy restaurants or chains and would rather have a down home meal and rub elbows with the local crowd. read more

Awesome food and worth a stop! It's hard to find because it's behind a parking lot and grove of trees but the view of the river is awesome if you snag a window table. The restaurant is first come first serve self seating and CASH only. Vibe is an old school diner and the wait staff is very friendly. I can't speak to the lunch or dinner options, but I can safely say that the seafood omelet was the worst brunch meal that I have ever experienced. Maybe I should have known when I saw imitation crab as the main ingredient, but fish plates have been so consistently good in this part of the country that I decided to give it a try. Baby (and I mean like 1/4th of an inch) frozen shrimp are wrapped up with the imitation crab in some eggs and slathered with what i'd suppose is "imitation" cheese. Gross city! The ambiance was nice though so I have to give 'em an extra star. I will not be going back or recommending this place to fellow travelers. read more

I have been coming here for breakfast for years. Pat's is in a great location on the water not far from the East side of the Port Orange bridge. It's a great breakfast and lunch spot. Good food, reasonably priced and always fast, friendly service. One of my favorite hangouts for breakfast. Finding a parking spot can be challenging during peak hours but it's worth the trouble. OMG,,, the cashier (I believe the owner) over charged me $5.00. The receipt from waitress was itemized but no total. I added in my head (about $11.) and paid at register; just an adding machine and no receipt given. My change was short by $5. When I questioned the cashier, she rather chuckled, said she can't see and tore off the paper from adding machine, flashing it quickly for me to look at. She then immediately said she entered the wrong amount tendered; $15. instead of $20 and gave me $5.00. I did give our waitress a generous tip. Good news, GREAT service from waitresses and cook, large portions and good food. read more

My sister and I have been vacationing in Florida every year for the last 5 years...we have been to Daytona Beach 2 times...we are coming back for a 3rd visit in July 2012. But our first visit to Daytona we found Pat's. Loved it so much we came back the 2nd time with our boyfriends. They loved it too. The food is great and for the price we found we didn't want to eat at any other diner or chain restaurant for breakfast while there. We get up and stroll in with our beach clothes on...of course our swimsuits are covered but once we eat we are all set and ready to go. It is a little hole in the wall diner but we enjoy the view of the marina while eating and the staff is very friendly. Can't wait to go back! read more

Great affordable little place. Not fancy by any means but the food is good and the servers are friendly. The food arrives quickly to the tables and there are nice waterfront views!
