Gotta stop by Patterson's Pub when in the area. Best Shepherd's Pie weve had, but it's only available on Fridays and sometimes Saturday. We also get the Steamed Clams in creamy garlic sherry basil broth and it is incredibly fresh and tasty. Staff is great! Friendly and welcoming. Cool ambiance - a variety of vintage beer mugs, art work and photos, as well as beer tap handles hung all over the place. Can't forget about the moose head. Looking for a fun and casual spot for dinner, we decided on Patterson's Pub, and what a treasure. Great Irish Pub with a fun and warm atmosphere. We were seated inside and our server Liz popped by to say hello and take our drink order. She is awesome! So fun and full of personality, we truly enjoyed her. I ordered the drink special, a pomegranate martini and Mr. Bee grabbed a Pliny the Elder beer. I chose the Mushroom Fettuccine with bread and after Liz's recommendation and a few locals that we chatted with told Mr. Bee to go for the Thursday night special, Ribs, Kielbasa, Baked Beans, Mac and Cheese and Jalapeno Cornbread, whew, that is a meal. They all were right, he loved his meal. Everything was perfectly cooked, the ribs were tender and slathered in a rich BBQ sauce, the kielbasa was nice and smoky, the cornbread tender, the baked beans smoky and rich and the mac and cheese was ooey gooey goodness. My fettuccine was delicious. I loved that it wasn't dripping in rich creamy sauce, it was lightly tossed with an abundance of mushrooms, parmesan and crispy cheesy bread on the side. Everything was scrumptious. We loved it so much, we ate at Patterson's a second time on our four night stay. On that visit, Mr. Bee had Fish and Chips based on Liz's recommendation and I opted for the Veggie Burger which was a homemade veggie patty and it was fabulous. So much so, it was gone before I could take a picture of it. If you find yourself in Mendocino, you gotta go, and if it is a Thursday, we recommend the rib special. But you must get there early. We were there at 5 pm and when Liz delivered our meals she said there were only 5 specials left. So someone that evening was disappointed. read more

Food was awful. Worst pub food I've ever had. I've had pub food in London and in Las Vegas that was so delicious but this was more like what you get at a Denny's restaurant. Also, you better order alcohol otherwise you will be ignored by your server. read more

This little pub that we found in Mendocino California was awesome great little historic part of Mendocino, and we parked our camper van and headed on over. Fantastic service, there was waiting for tables so we decided to sit at the bar and we both got a German ale beer to drink, and we ordered bowls of clam chowder and fish and chips to share. Watching these bartender girls were fantastic. They knew what they were doing and it was fun to watch the mixed drinks for the hour that we were there. Fantastic service, friendly service, and the food was impeccable and what a cute place this was, I could see myself living here in this area. It's an awesome Beach Town Yum yum. read more

Quality/Quantity - Pub Smoked Tri Tip Sandwich - no extra charge for sweet potato fries!!! Thank you. Also, they had very generous portions! I could have used more BBQ sauce on my tri tip though. So if you are a light eater (and big drinker) it is okay to share a plate of food. Fish and Chips - ran out of the haddock, so we got the COD again. Indoor and outdoor seating in a huge tent with a heat lamp; I suggest the outdoor seating; indoor seemed crammed. Plus the outside had cool decor to look at while waiting for your food. Actually the entire place had cool decor, check out my pictures. My daughter wanted to add to the gnome garden. Also bar seating. Cool classic London taxi in front of the restaurant. They also have a backup generator, so if power goes out, you can still drink, oh and eat. Service - 6 stars, Sonia was excellent, very patient and professional. Price - $43.24 + tip. 3% drought fee, see picture. I am NOT a fan of all these additional fees when we travel - living wage, SF mandate, SF ordinance, resort fees, parking fee, mandatory hotel tip on invoice, etc; especially since all businesses charge differently, have different names, and various percentages, etc. In summary, if two businesses are the same cost but one with "additional fees" versus one with just higher prices, I would prefer to frequent the higher price businesses. I prefer that you just raise the price, which most of us are willing to pay versus feeling "nickled and dimed". You cater to more tourist customers, who are willing and able to pay the raised prices. Whereas many of us, tourist or not, do NOT like to see an extra tax/fee on our bill. Most people do not like to pay extra taxes... Is this a price sensitivity issue or marketing issue? The quintessential Irish style pub in cute little Mendocino. Super cozy and eclectic interior with an impressive bar. There were some folks enjoying the first Saturday college football of the season when we were there, so probably a good place to have breakfast and enjoy a game on the television. We had the clam chowder, which is definitely NOT the worse ever--in fact, it was quite tasty with a hint of dill. We also split a salad which was just ok, but it was huge, so plenty for two people. I would give it 3.5 stars. We were here in February which was crab season. The crab won ton appetizers we got were amazing. The crab was fresh and not over powered by the other ingredients. The king salmon that my sister got was very good as well. I had the taco salad which I am not sure I would get again. Overall the service was great, our server was very friendly and everything came out quickly. They had a big beer selection as well. We came for drinks and apps on a Saturday night. The service was fast and courteous, but the food and drinks were just ok. We ordered the Cajun French fries which were ok but could have been seasoned more. We sat outside, which was well ventilated and had lots of heaters. Cozy lil Irish pub! The sign drew us in: we had to taste the clam chowder. We opted to sit inside for the hygge charm, low lights, and fun decor. But they do have heated and covered outdoor seating too! Busy but friendly staff served us. We had a light meal of fries and chowder - the chowder was delish, fresh and thick! Honestly the atmosphere is what really shines here. You feel like part of the small town inside, like being transported to a small Irish town by the cliff side. 6/10/2022 Patterson's Pub 10485 Lansing St Mendocino, CA 95460 The wifey wanted to visit Mendocino so my Yelp search ended us up here in "downtown" Mendocino on a "warm" 65 F (according to our waitress) Friday afternoon, it was in the 90's in Silicon Valley. Patterson's is a UK pub style place, adults only with dogs allowed on their outside (nice) patio. I ordered the Haddock and Chips and the wife had the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich. I also ordered the bowl of Clam Chowder to go. Service was great; attentive, informative, fast and friendly. My F&C was okay; the batter was really too crunchy for me but the Haddock was moist and flaky as it should be. My wife said her chicken sandwich was a thumbs up. The take home clam chowder was good unlike the chalkboard statement in my photo. Mendocino is a long hike on windy and narrow Route 128, it's likely a one time visit for me. But if you are in the area Patterson's is worth a visit. read more

We were in Mendocino for three nights and 6 meals and we ate here on our first and last night and each time it was delicious. The first night my husband ordered the special of black cod on Caesar salad and I ordered the black cod sandwich. Both were fresh and very good. The portions were generous and nicely presented. The beer selection was varied and had a couple of our favorites. Service was friendly. The next time we went we had a short wait but it was worth it. We shared the wedge salad which came with plenty of fresh bacon bits and a creamy blue cheese dressing. Arrived around 7pm and there was about a 15 minute wait. We were seated outdoors but there was a heater so we were ok. Had to try their clam chowder - shared a bowl with the hubs. Liked the big clams found in the chowder - creamy and flavorful. It was a good bowl of chowder. Hubs wanted to try many things but ended up ordering the steak sandwich. Good sized piece of steak cooked to a perfect medium. More of an open face sandwich. Hubs said the flavor of the steak was good but was a bit tough. The fries were thin and crispy. Not hot, unfortunately. He also ordered them as truffle fries, but they either forgot to add the truffle or the flavor was too light. I ordered the blackened cod caesar- so good. Fish was moist. Caesar was cold. Not too much dressing. I enjoyed this one a lot. Place gets quite busy, and staff were kept busy. Service, overall, was good. We selected Patterson's from reviews and we were thrilled. It's a bit away from the ocean but the ambience and food made it well worth it. My wife and I shared the clam chowder and fish and chips. Both were great. The chowder had lots of clams and a great flavor. The fish and chips were super crispy and moist inside. Perfect. Their house breading and tartar sauce were fantastic. Patterson's has become our favorite place to eat in Mendocino. The setting is charming, the food is superior, there is a great selection of beers, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The indoor dining room can get a bit crowded at peak hours, but the huge outdoor dining area is fine when the weather cooperates. There is no place I'd rather eat a pastrami sandwich accompanied by a pint of Pliny the Elder, highly recommended. read more

Very cute decor, super friendly & accommodating staff. Food was good, and the patio area had heaters. I was very impressed (as someone who often travels alone with my dog) that when I was seated, she even told me that if I had to go inside to use the restroom while there, I could just take the dog with me. If you weren't warned before, Mendocino restaurants close early! But luckily for you, Patterson's is open late and has great food, drink, atmosphere, and for the dog parents like me they have a great outdoor area for pets! We were looking for some late (8pm is late for the area, haha) night bites....Saw the chalk board that proudly shares how one guy on yelp said they had they worst clam chowders, so I had to try it of course... and it was DELICIOUS. Creamy and bursting with flavor- add a side of the garlic bread for the perfect pairing. I got the Kobe burger and added the option for mushrooms and grilled onions, which made each bite perfect. I paired it with one of their many many local beers and we were able to head home with filled and warm bellies! Also, the staff was super friendly from the moment we came in where they offered my dog a bowl of water before we even fully sat down. If you're looking for a place with great pub comfort food, superior drinks, and awesome service, you've found your spot. After seeing some beautiful Redwood Lilys in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, we ended up here for dinner. Things usually turn out great when there's no expectation and here is a good one. For $22, I got 4 big pieces of cod as fish and chips. The cod is extremely fresh and that surprised me a little. I know seafood should be fresh in a beach town like this but this really really fresh. Such a big portion so I shared it with my friend. The tropical mocktail was wonderfully done with pineapple juice. Highly recommended and the waiter (forgot the name and he has a ponytail) is super nice and patient. Everything you expect from a pub here has exceeded the expectation. read more

02/28/23 -Patterson's Pub This place is awesome! During our stay at Elk Cove Inn and Spa, we went to Patterson's twice during our 4 day stay. The inside is very unique with all its different decorations and collectibles. The staff members are friendly and attentive. They have a large selection of drinks and knowledgeable bartenders. The food is great and their prices are fair. It's perfect for a tasty dish and drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Beats paying $12-15 for a shot in the Bay Area. I got a mixed drink and beer for $15 here. You can always eat at the bar if there aren't any tables available. It's a clean and fun atmosphere. read more

This was an extremely pleasant surprise! We are staying at a nice b&b cottage, about 1 block from this pub (Headland's). We did not expect to find a pub with great drinks, great food, and wonderful service! Our server was Alexis. Friendly and efficient. Just what you want (or need) after a long day of driving. I will try to post a photo or two. Check out the pour on my Jameson's! I felt transported in time back to older days. So nice! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, my wife had the French dip. Both were choices with known risks, based on experience, but the French Dip was not the least bit salty, and the sauce on the pulled pork was just right, Goldylocks right! Inside was cool too but we only saw it breifly. We recently moved here and had to check it out. On a girl's weekend, while shopping in Mendocino, we saw this hilarious sign. It peaked our curiosity. So we decided to give it a try. Once we entered the pub, we knew we were going to have a great time. The ambiance was warm, the servers were friendly and courteous, and most patrons were locals--which is always a good sign. After my server realized I enjoy Blue Moon on tap, and they didn't have it, she offered to make me one. WOWZA!!! It was BETTER than BM!!
