The tilapia plate is very good! This place surprised me on a few points. -Service was excellent, friendly, nice and attentive. -Smaller place but they deliver. -Breakfast can get crowded, so get there early. -The desserts are made from scratch. -Easy to get to, plenty of parking. -Kid friendly. Food review. -Nachos very tasty, the cheese is not heavy like you get at a little league snack bar. Remember to get the nacho sauce that comes with it will add to the flavor. My wife got the salmon plate which is good, it's not Island Prime, Fish Market or Bo Beau but their fish plates have a good, clean taste to hook your taste buds in. I got the Tilapia plate, fish was crispy and good just right, it comes with rice and veggies as well as pita bread with a tasty sauce. -I will get both items again as well as the Nachos. The place is worth a visit if you are taking a break from shopping at Big Lots or Ross close by. Prices are affordable I was surprised at the food quality and the selection. This is for dinner service, for the most part, if i didnt have a coupon i'd of walked out.. Food was ok.. Service..well if you like to hang at the front door, wait and watch 2-3 servers cleaning and doing side work..then wave them down to get a table...then get sat and sit around a table for another 10+ mins, with menus..do the 'snap my fingers' helloooo...and then finally get some some attention..(keep snapping your fingers) and then get your food and get zero attention after the food...(snap snap) then finally 'can we get our check?' 3.5. Awesome service, huge portions, and a customizable menu. Can't beat the mix of Greek, American, and Mexican... The variety made it very hard to choose. The sample plate was good as was the shredded chicken tostada. Nothing mind blowing but the price-for-portion ratio and one-stop-shop multicultural menu make this a good choice when you can't choose where to go. read more

First time here! Will definitely be coming back! We had a great server! And the ambiance was the best. Old style cafe. Good vibes. Quiet place. Very respectful people around you! OJ was great! And we also had coffee! You can ask for vanilla creamer which is always a huge plus! Sis got the chorizo omelette with hash browns! She's very picky and she loved it! I had the bacon and eggs with home style potatoes, FANTASTIC! Parking lot is shared so it can get crazy, luckily found a spot up front! This place is a little gem in the area. I have never had eggs benedict and i was so nervous to try it but looking at the photos on yelp made me try the Carne Asada Benedict. It was delicious. My boyfriend got the pork chop breakfast which was delicious as well. The toast was toasted beautifully and was so golden and crispy. My eggs benedict was amazing and the hollandaise sauce was delicious. I especially loved how the food was not as greasy as other breakfast places. Our server was very kind and gave good suggestions. The place was very homey and instantly made me feel comfortable especially with how nice the hostess was as well. All in all, this place is a wonderful place to eat if you are feeling breakfast. read more

I was looking forward to trying this café. We sat outside as it was a lovely evening. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The menu is very eclectic, Mexican, Greek and American. I asked if they made the moussaka and was told they did not. That should have been my first clue. I ordered the chicken kabob plate. When I cut into the chicken it was raw on the inside, charred nicely on the outside. I sent it back to be cooked and I am not sure that it really was cooked or the chicken was spoiled. I did not eat most of it and woke up in the middle of the night not feeling well as a result. Needless to say I will not be returning to Patty's café. Maybe they are trying to make too many different things? They would be a good candidate for the show Restaurant Impossible to have a menu makeover and to make sure that the kitchen is clean and the food is well prepared and fully cooked. read more

I stopped in today for my first time since I'm new to the area. I ordered to go but I'm definitely going to be coming back (very often) to dine in! Such a cute mom and pop cafe. I met Claudia who helped me with my order. As I was talking to her all the guests kept saying happy birthday to her, so I could definitely tell there are a bunch of regulars at this spot. Regulars means you're doing something right! I had a club sandwich and I was very very impressed. I ended up having half for lunch half for dinner because that thing was HUGE! Claudia let me know her mom is Patty and I just love love love a local family owned spot. If you're looking to support local businesses this is a great spot to do so! Wow, can't believe yesterday was the first time I went here! Wonderful experience! First, our server Joanna was AWESOME! So friendly, bubbly, and when I asked if we could get separate checks (2 couples, 2 singles), she said with a smile "I was going to ask about that". That was pretty cool. I ordered a Greek chicken/gyros salad and it was pretty large and very good. The dressing was different than what I am used to - maybe almost a Caesar? But it was really tasty. The gyros and chicken were both cooked to perfection. Pita was warm and soft. The other folks at my table all enjoyed their meals. One had the same as I did (took half to go, like I did) and another lady had the gyros plate, ate it all, which she said she usually doesn't do. One of the group had a club sandwich w/onion rings and both were really impressive. DEFINITELY worth a return visit (or many). Nice prices, great food, and amazing service. How can you go wrong? read more

What a fun little place. It's a typical all American Diner with a wide variety of menu items. The staff was pleasant and even though it was busy on a Monday morning at 10:00 we didn't have to wait. Keep in mind that this is a diner and you get diner food, don't expect anything fancy. that said, what we ordered was really tasty. My friend had a California omelette which was sort of like a BLT in eggs with avocado mixed in. She had hash browns although you had a choice of other potatoes and a biscuit. I had an omelette and for the life of me can't remember the name but it had kalamata olives, feta cheese and I think spinach. Also opted for the hash browns that were a tad greasy but yummy none the less. I had rye toast, what can you do to that. Would love to come back and try lunch. The entire bill with tip was I think around $24 which included our drinks. Not a bad deal for good food. read more

The food is better than average, but when my server, Joanna, messed up my order and I pointed it out, she gave me an attitude. Tried to blame others for her own error. This is not someone that I want to do business with. It's too bad, because the place has a lot of potential. The food was better than most, although I thought my portion was rather small. She didn't come back to check on me to see if I was happy with the order. With so many good reviews on here, it was a huge disappointment. read more

This place is definitely for the older crowd. The decor, the atmosphere, and the music (50s tunes), all geared towards the older generation. However, that being said, it's a good place to go for breakfast. The food was flavorful comfort type food.The skillets, the biscuits and gravy, and the omelets are good. They also make their own salsa which is really tasty. Our waitress was wonderful...lots of smiles, and right there to do coffee refills! read more

The food is huge so if you are hungry thus is a nice place to eat, drink specials for that day, cinco de mayo was great! And the owner was at the door hosting now that was great and she gave me a T-shirt! Now the bad news, it was busy but the service was not to good and I am a server. read more

Nothing special here. It's the kind of place I want to support: local, family-owned, down-to-earth. The food is edible, the service is competent. I lean towards the Greek items on the menu. They seem to be done the most competently. The Mexican dishes are not to my liking. The problem for me is that if you want Greek food, there are better choices in the area. I'm a big fan of Greek Chicken in El Cajon. Patty's has a much wider selection, but doesn't come close in flavor and value. read more

This place is a bit pricy but comparable to the prices you see anywhere now. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The menu is very diverse with American, Greek, and Mexican menu items. My son had the Lunch Special burger (I think it was called California) that came with fries and he really enjoyed it. I had the Gryo platter and that was super flavorful and was a great portion size! When I first saw the price of it, it took me aback but I love a good Gyro so I decided to try it. The portion size definitely made the money almost worth it. We will definitely return to try the other menu items! read more

For first timer I liked it. Service is great and fast Good quality I can rate from 1-10 it is a 8 so I would come back. What I liked about this cafe is that they do not just have one type of option of food wise, meaning they have Mexican, seafood, Mediterranean etc... It was defiantly a good choice. First time I came here, I was searching for a diner after a coworker and I hiked Cowles Mt. Since then he's been asking me "when are going back to Patty's?" Well, he flaked on me last Monday but my niece hiked with me instead. She suggested to grab a bite and Patty's is the only place nearby I can think of with a good breakfast/brunch menu. I come here all the time! Good food and large portions. There is a mix of everything here Mexican, Greek and American. And they have breakfast all day! Which is nice so that my friends and I can find something to eat when we are in the mood for different things. The servers are always nice, prompt, and the place is clean. I would say the only thing I'm not a fan of is the way they make their garlic bread it's oily not buttery. And Sundays they close early, which made me have to try the lake Murray cafe, and that place is dirty and nasty! read more

Simple dinner with Greek, American, and Mexican food. breakfast all day and, of course, pie! You should leave this place satisfied. Im no fancey yelper so to put it simple, this place makes me feel comfortable and in no hurry. The food is good and with larger then average portions. Average being Danny's. So come in, sit low in your booth and slow down. When your done i hope you get the same feeling as I do full and satisfied. read more

This little gem is tucked away in an otherwise unremarkable strip mall. The food is excellent. I had the good fortune of having much of my wife's chicken-fried steak as well as my own California burger. Both were very good and the portions were generous. The service was impeccable. The place was clean as a whistle, especially the carpets! We will definitely be back the next time we are in SD. read more

I've been here many times since my first review. This restaurant is awesome. Everything I've had is delicious. I'm usually here for breakfast, but I've got to start coming for lunch too. " Very Clean, Great Service & Tasty Greek Food " My wife an I visited Patty's Cafe in La Mesa tonight and had a very nice experience. The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping center where the Big Lots store is located, off of Lake Murray Blvd. in La Mesa. Patty's is a small and very clean cafe with nice booths and tables. Maria our server was very nice as she sat us at a booth, and highlighted all the favorite meals in all the sections, of the entire menu. Patty's has a beer that not many restaurant have, Dos XX Amber. We ordered 2 of them and they came with a frozen mug to enjoy. My wife had the Super Combo with a Chicken Souvlaki, Spanakopita, Sliced Gyro meat, served with a Greek Salad, Rice Pilaf, Hot Pita Bread and Tzatziki sauce. My wife said it was Awesome ! I had the Gyro Platter with thinly sliced Gyro meat served with a Greek Salad, Hot Pita Bread & Tzatziki sauce. All of Patty's Greek Gyro meat is cooked on a rotisserie. My plate was delicious. The meat was very tasty, and the Pita Bread was so fresh, soft and lite. Also the Greek Salads we had were so tasty, crisp, and the Greek salad dressings was so delicious. Patty's has a huge breakfast menu, and they also have Traditional American, and Mexican meals to enjoy. I have passed this shopping center many times, but did not ever see this little gem of a restaurant which was packed with people when we left. Now I know why their reviews rank so high. It came with a yummy almond galleta dusted with powdered sugar. The coffee was perfect. I dipped my cookie in my coffee and truly it was the perfect bite plus perfect treat as I waited for my food because I was HUNGRY! Our food took a while to arrive it was a Saturday morning at brunch but it wasn't crowded. The wait was the kind of wait you do where you look at the tables around you to see who has food and who doesn't and wonder what was the seating order of the folks around you and if they got their food before you and why. So when my food arrived I was sooooo ready! I ordered the chorizo and crispy potatoes burrito. It looked great when it arrived! I strategically cut my burrito about a quarter of the way in. I knew I would at least eat a quarter but I knew I definitely wouldn't eat the whole thing and I didn't want to waste a perfectly good bite on all tortilla. I cut my burrito and put a bite on my fork and as I put my food in my mouth I looked down and find a long curly hair. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I was disappointed for several reasons. 1. The bite I took was all egg and tortilla. No cheese no chorizo no potato. 2. I was starving! And 3. I knew I wasn't going to have anything to eat until after the other two people I was with finished eating and I could go somewhere else to get food. I didn't let it damper my mood. I showed the waiter who was very apologetic and took my plate away. When he walked away. It hit me I didn't tell him to not bring me anything else because I was going to eat a remade burrito. So I got his attention because I didn't want them to waste anymore food. Here is what I will say. To replace my food, I was given a pastry platter that was AMAZINGLY good! The concha was legit the best I've ever eaten. The banana bread was delicious with delicious toasted pecans which added a caramelized texture to the banana bread! No joke, it was so good. What I will also say is that I was visited with no less than 3 people including Gabriela herself who was absolutely apologetic about my experience and assured me it wouldn't happen again. What's also nice is that I wasn't charged for the food I ate which believe it or not has happened to me before MANY years ago. My peeps whom I was with absolutely loved their food. One had the Sopes and the other had the huevos rancheros. So while I have to be honest about my review, I really think this was a one off mistake and at the very least I would highly suggest ordering cafecito and pastries from Casa Gabriela!

One our favorite neighborhood spots Great food for dinner/lunch and breakfast.We love all of their Greek dishes including a chicken Greek salad with a wonderful Greek dressing served with warm pita bread.Another favorite is moussaka plate made with eggplant and bechamel sauce like back in Greektown in MI. All meals come with soup or salad and veggies a great value.My all time favorite is the homemade Lemon Chicken rice soup so delish! But the best part besides the food are the friendly staff including the owner Patty and her husband and some other family members including her granddaughter. I love this family owned neighborhood place!I always feel right at home and they offer daily specials and beautiful roses from their garden. read more

The only thing I could complain about was the service. My server brought me the wrong plate and without noticing I started to cut into it. A second later, he rushed over and took the plate away with my silverware still on it without saying anything. It was kinda weird, but everything else was good.
