I was hesitant to get the Blackened Rib Eye (because I love a good steak and didn't want to be disappointed), but it was cooked so perfectly and seasoned very well, topped with their garlic butter. I used to come here with my family and remember it being great- super consistent and delicious. Tonight I decided to drop by with my daughter after a few years and wow. It was totally different... The man who sat us didn't even make eye contact, say hello, smile, in fact he seemed irritated and almost mad he had to seat us. It was so awkward. Our food was accidentally bussed away when we went to the restroom but Raul was nice enough to make sure we got our food remade. That was nice of him. Not his fault it was cleared. No manager came to say anything or talk to us. We got completely ignored by management. There was also another server, I wish I asked his name but didn't, and he was extremely kind and helpful. He was honestly a bright light to a pretty underwhelming time. The food- ahi poke was nice and refreshing, ribs are always good, but the desert was totally lacking! I mean the chef special cookie was a small square with a mini ice cream, and I mean mini (it was in the condiment container when we took it to go). They forgot my daughter's ice cream. Sadly we were very dissatisfied today! I got the ribeye and I wasn't happy with the quality. Meat was tougher than what I like in a steakhouse! My husband ordered the pasta with shrimp. Well the shrimp were way over cooked. We had to send it back. When he got the other plate it was done right. Overall I'm not sure I want to spend over $200 on a meal that is mediocre. I gave Paul Martin a second chance.... I came without a reservation (it was pretty empty) and the hostess asked if we had one which I said no... and then we got sat in the corner by the kitchen double doors away from everywhere else that was there. That's weird.... I believe our waiter was Raul, he was extremely nice and attentive. I ordered the short rib, something I did not have from the past. This was... decent. For the price, I was not impressed at all. I would imagine a lighter taste to it-- the short rib was extremely rich in flavor. I tried to use the mashed potatoes to balance it. Oh gosh, the mashed potatoes ... what are those??? It tasted like it was made with water. It just tasted so weird. I never had mashed potatoes like this before. Very bland tasting-- no sense of flavor whatsoever. I even asked my friend to try it in which they also agreed. It was bland. Weird texture. Not fluffy. Not creamy. I can't describe it. The only thing that I really cared about was the butter cake. I remembered this from last time and it still hits the same. Out of everything I tried on their menu this is the only consistent good thing. Anyways for an almost $200 dinner for 2 people, the food was very subpar. I went for a Saturday afternoon Happy Hour and it was excellent! 2:00-6:00 pm in the bar. The bar has many if nice tables. The deals $18 for an Angus burger, with fries and a cocktail or beer. I had a LA Ale house "hazy" beer, it was fruity, don't know the name but was extremely refreshing. Also had steak tacos and flatbread. Those were also very good. Went to Paul Martin's for Father's Day. Place was packed. The staff was very considerate, the manager was on the floor making sure guest were happy. Food was delicious, had the artichoke spinach dip and the cheese biscuits for appetizers. Main dish was the filet mignon, with garlic butter. It was ordered as medium well bcus I like medium, however, my experience in my world travels is that chefs notoriously under cook steaks 9/10 times. So what I got was medium rare, it was still good but I even double checked with my server to confirm I ordered medium well. The manager was sent over ( not requested) and I explained to her, everything was great but especially on Father's Day, all us men just want the steaks made the we ordered. This is actually a review on two recent experiences. My wife and her best friend had gone to Paul Martin's for lunch three days before. They had a problem with their lunches which I needn't go in to. The important part was their server and the manager Lilly were very apologetic and graciously comped their entire lunch. They were very grateful and appreciative. I had made a Rez for Saturday to try their Wagyu hangar steak dinner so my wife and I went back. Our server Cesar was excellent in every way. I met Vi, one of the operating partners. I told them how much my wife appreciated the great treatment which is one of the reasons we returned. The special meal included a very generous and tasty salad as well as a perfectly prepared Wagyu hangar steak with polenta, broccolini and chimichurri sauce. It was delicious. Quilt Cabernet went perfectly. They comped our dessert since it was our Anniversary. Our experiences were excellent, and we plan on returning next week for another great meal at Paul Martin's. Their staff is gracious and caring, and really appreciate their diners. We highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Inside of the restaurant is decorated very nicely with exposed beams and warm earthy tones and it really set the mood for a nice bite to eat. First time at this resto. We were a large party having a celebratory lunch. The food was quite delicious and more tasty than I expected. Since we were a large party, we had to order off a set menu of choice of protein (beef, chicken or fish) and a vegetarian option. It was a set 3-course meal prefaced by flatbread, shrimp cocktail and cheddar biscuits. My husband I opted for: House salad. It was fine. It was a salad. Caesar Salad. It was fine. It tasted like they used pre-made dressing. Thankfully, they were not heavy handed. Sometimes salads are served drowned in dressing. Blackened ribeye with garlic shrimp. This was quite delicious. The ribeye grilled to medium-rare and the garlic shrimp perfectly cooked. I thought I would not like the sauce, but it definitely added to the dish. Brick chicken was prepared well. The chicken was moist, juicy and definitely not dry. This is a good option for the folks who always order chicken! Fruit bowl. A light option for dessert. Butter cake. It was fine. Personally, I wish the edges were crispier. My only real "complaint " was about the service. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. However, their timing and coordination could've been better. There was a lot of downtime in between courses. They also didn't take away used plates until I asked them to after they served the next course. Perhaps they were busy or perhaps they were still in training but this aspect of their service for a large group can be improved. A parking structure is nearby. Try it! Enjoy! read more

I stayed in a hotel right behind the restaurant. I winded up having lunch with a friend. While she loves the drinks, I don't drink alcohol so I enjoyed the iced tea. Now we had the salt and pepper shrimp. Which I enjoyed very much. The e service was rather quick, efficient and friendly. Wonderful ambiance as many people who work in the neighborhood come from light bites and drinks. There are parking spaces available. I can let you in a secret. The personal at the parking structure leaves after 3PM so parking is free after that time. However, the restaurant can validate your parking for you. It's not too far from Manhattan Beach either. I had visited this location last night for dinner and I gotta say that the food was fire but the service was poor let me get into last night dinner. I come to this location all the time and service always is great. I had got to my seat at 720pm and wasn't seem by a server until 740pm. Not once I was acknowledge menu water or even I be right with you. Base off this along I was waiting for my check so I can close out and that took additional 15min. Was not really impressed with it. The restaurant was empty for a Thursday night. No need for reservation. Though the server and hostess were very pleasant, the food was just average and somewhat overpriced. For some reason the whole restaurant had an unusual smell like cleaning products or that musty smell that you would find in an old bar. The soda machine had a very bad aftertaste. Nice location. Decent looking restaurant. Not a bad menu but the stuff that really mattered was just not on par with what I expected it to be I can't see myself going back to this location given the other places to eat in the nearby area read more

We had reservations here celebrated my aunt's 79th Birthday (Mom's eldest sister). It was the sisters including my mom and my first cousins and our kids together. My first time dining there. Beautiful ambiance. I ordered the braised short ribs with a side of Brussels sprouts. So tender and moist and delicious. Definitely recommend. We also had different appetizers: calamari, biscuits, poke lettuce wrap cups and spinach dip with pita bread. Everything was fantastic. Our servers were very attentive. Made the evening go smoothly. After going to a movie at Cinema West we decided to try Happy Hour. The bar area was pretty full (it was around 5o'clock) but we found a table. The happy menu has a good selection and very reasonably priced. The sandwiches come with a drink so I tried the salmon sandwich which came with sweet potato fries and I chose a lemon drop martini. Hubby had the shrimp tacos. Sandwich had a large portion of salmon, arugula, avocado and a slightly spicy dressing. It was delicious. Shrimp tacos were good too. The team here seems to wok well with each other. I iften invite my clients, managers, and friend here for lunch from out of state. They are never disappointed! Nice setting, the indoor and outdoor seating. Crab cake is very generously meaty, not so much breading with a great sauce.
