I don't know if it's just me but the meat had way too many tendons as I didn't really enjoy the burrito . It appears that there's a charge for extra condiments (e.g. ranch, etc.), as when one of my party members asked for ranch after myself, they were informed of a fee, not me. Paul's used to be good. Everything was always cooked well, seasoned perfectly, and consistent. Things have been off for a while now, even before the pandemic. While you can still get a decent salad or breakfast, everything else has been terrible. The zucchini, which used to be fried to perfection, is now so undercooked that the breading falls apart. The fries are either dry and hard or squishy and limp, no in between. And it seems as though whoever is cooking is terrified of seasoning the food because it's often extremely bland now, which was the case with my green wet burrito tonight. No salt in the sauce, no salt in the beans inside the burrito. Come to think of it, the undercooked zucchini weren't seasoned either. I'm super irritated right now. I pulled up to the drive-thru and was told to hold which is fine but it was an extraordinary long wait time before anyone came to the speaker. I ordered the Hungry Paul's breakfast combo and then proceeded to the window. I waited about 5 minutes and noticed my order sitting on the counter but the girl who came to the window take my money initially and who was an overly "energetic" (I'm thinking meth), anorexic looking white girl stood there talking and talking and talking to a co-worker and not paying attention to the orders coming up. She was too busy having a personal conversation to bother... I could even see the cook looking at me through the window and noticing my frustration. When she finally noticed my food sitting there on the counter and brought it to the window for me, I told her how frustrated I was and how she just made me late to work. I get the food to work and noticed that I ordered eggs over easy and I got them over hard and there was just something funky about them the way they looked and the way the yolk looked. I get it. It can't always be perfect. What gets me is we gave the associates a chance to make it right and they didn't. My wife ordered the fish and chips plate. It went up again! Now $11.99 to last year only $9.99. I ordered the broasted chicken and told us it would take 20 minutes. I knew that. It was ok. They asked and I requested that the salad and fish be served when they were ready. Please do not wait on the chicken. Ordered their Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast TO GO and I have some Pros and Cons to mention.... Pro's - 1) great portion sizes. They give you enough to definitely keep you full 2) I didn't call in my order, so ordered there and they got my order done in 5-10 minutes. 3) The cook on the everything (eggs, hash browns, and the chicken fried steak) were perfect. Con's - 1) The gravy was a bit bland. It needs to be seasoned more. It didn't enhance the flavor of the chicken fried steak, it just added to it texturally. 2) This is the main reason I gave three stars on this review. Because this was a TO GO order, I was given a packet of plastic table settings. The setting was wrapped in Saran Wrap and then sealed with scotch tape, which made it so difficult to access the plastic utensils that I needed scissors just to get them out (see picture). read more

I only ordered 3 items and placed my order before the lunch rush at 11:10am so I wasn't expecting a problem with my order but when I got to my destination and unpacked the bag, a salad entree was missing. I didn't have time to spend an additional 30 min going back/forth to pick up the missing food so we continued with our lunch meeting sharing 1 entree and a side among 2 people while I sent someone else to pick up the missing salad a little later. I love their breakfast. They make the best hashbrowns. Plus if you ever get it to go, they line the tray styrofoam with aluminum paper so it does burn through. Got a patty melt here yesterday 7/13/24 and was very disappointed! It was overly salty and bread was mushy and greasy. Patty melts should have a crispy grilled outside. Maybe they changed the rye bread they use. Have noticed other reviews mention the high prices. It seems like with every visit, the prices go up again. This is very aggravating! I don't know if it's my pregnancy hormones or what but I have been craving Paul's place chili cheese fries with twister fries for some time now! I went here cause I remember ordering it before. It was sad because they would charge me for the fries separate and a bowl of chili but considering I got what I wanted, I didn't care! This time I figured they would do it for me again. So my first experience at Paul's Place was around 830p on a sunday. I arrive with intentions on their well known burgers and shakes. The person who helped me was all but enthused to take my order, when I asked for a double cheeseburger combo with a milk shake they replied " we don't do substitutions "! Never in my 56 years have I heard of any fast food or restaurant chain that won't let you have a milk shake with a combo instead of a fountain drink and even if so they would simply charge the bill accordingly. Nonetheless I still agreed and asked for a double cheeseburger, fries and a milk shake after which they replied "we're just cleaned out shake machine, no more shakes tonight" ... I left , I walked away and went to volcano burgers down the street which was PACKED and I got a great meal. Moral of the story, paul's place clearly is losing it. read more

Really good All American burgers that will fill you up. Covid precautions: 4/5 I know that Orange County has less restrictions than LA County so they do allow patrons to sit inside, without masks and eat but there is no regulations to it, as if it's just normal. Staff wearing masks, there's plexiglass and signs to wear a mask and keep 6ft distance. The seating area is not regulated. Everyone can sit next to each other. The pop machine everyone has access to get their own drinks and people do it without wearing their masks. No sanitizer available to help reduce cross contamination of touching surfaces. Food: 5/5 I ordered then double cheese burger with fries and I did not expect for the sandwich to be as big as it was. I normally finish all my food but I actually still has about 2-3 bites left that I could not finish. The fries were pretty good. Nothing special, classic fries. Ambiance: 4/5 I mentioned a lot of it above. So I will not repeat it. Would love to see more hand sanitizer available and maybe a staff member handling the pop machine versus all patrons and staff touching the same buttons.
