Incredibly warm welcoming as soon as I walked in the door. I have not been here in probably over 10 years. The menu was very easy and interior with plenty of options. I love that. They have wine beer and cocktails. I opted for a lychee beer, which was surprisingly delicious and bright. I felt like it complimented my dinner very well. The curry was delicious! Totally feel good food. For the first time I added beef to my dish. The flavor of the beef was lacking. That was my only disappointment. Next time I will opt for chicken or shrimp. Really delicious food here! I was looking for some Thai food late night and managed to get amazing takeout in a pinch. Staff is very friendly unhelpful. Restaurant is spotlessly clean and the outside of the building is modern and new. Plenty of parking spots out front. I highly recommend the shrimp Pad Thai. My daughter lives in the area and recommended Spoon to us when we were visiting her and her family. We were so glad she did! The interior is cool and eclectic, and they played a wide variety of music, from jazz to Queen. Really nice, relaxing vibes. She told me to order the drunken noodles, Pad Kee Mao, and I'm so glad I followed her advice! Seriously, the best preparation of this dish I've ever had! I was nervous about the spice level, so I went with hot instead of Thai hot. ( There's another level above that, so I thought I'd be okay, but chickened out and chose plain hot.) It was pleasantly hot, but I'll try the more painful Thai hot next time. Noodles, veggies, minced chicken, sweet sauce . . . Perfection! Can't believe it's my first time here! You can tell it's a neighborhood joint since a lot of the customers were chatting up their employees like they've been going there for years. I was shocked to see they have a full bar as soon as you walk in! They had tons of takeout orders for Sunday night, while their dining room was pretty full. We ordered the beef nam tok to start, the veggie panang for me and tofu red curry for my husband. Food came pretty quick and we both really liked the salad. I do wish it was served with sticky rice, but I suppose we could have ordered it as a side. Not gonna lie but I was pretty underwhelmed with the curry. I think it was served in a bowl too big for the serving size. I only got medium heat but should have opted for hot, but instead asked for chili sauce (50 cent up charge btw). I ordered the crab fried rice from Spoon Eastside, located in the Ormewood Park Shopping Plaza, and it was fantastic. Dined at Spoon tonight, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. As a table of one, my server was hospitable, however you could tell that they were short staff on the floor . I was so hungry that I started right away with the Tom Yum Soup, and for my entree, I had the Panang Curry with white rice. For an added treat, I ordered an iced Thai tea, which was both delicious and refreshing for the evening. Beyond the food, the ambiance here is quaint and intimate. Had a team dinner at Spoon tonight. We had a very pleasant experience. We were a larger party and they had our tables set up on our arrival. From the hostess to server, they were pleasant and attentive. We order several appetizers to include the chicken satay, fried spring rolls, roti (delicious) and wings. We ordered a variety of entrees: crabmeat fried rice (one of their most popular dishes) and added shrimp, shrimp pad thai, green curry, and penang. Omg! I was craving a delicious yellow curry and i got exactly what i wanted... i ordered the massamun and got one of the best curry's i've ever eaten. It was sweet and savory, creamy and nutty. I walked in at 8:46 PM thinking they were going to tell me that there kitchen was closed, but to my surprise they told me I had plenty of time. The food came out before I had a chance to finish signing my receipt. It was quick and fresh and delicious! This was not my first meal nor was it my last. I have patronized Spoon several times over the years. They are a community stable in the village. The only thing I will say is that with inflation, the portion seems small for the amount of money you're spending. $14 for some noodles +4 dollars for the protein seems like a lot. The noodles don't cost that much. Also, it just felt a little skimpy. Not as much basil, peppers or veggies in general. I've had pad kee mao other places that provided more volume in the dish. This is my friend's favorite Thai restaurant on the Eastside, so she was eager to bring me here for dinner one evening. Hidden in a small business complex on Moreland, Spoon can easily be missed if you don't know it exists. We came on a Thursday, so thankfully, it wasn't busy. There was also plenty of parking in front of the various businesses. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a very friendly host. What made my initial impression even better, was our server. He was amazing. Energetic, funny, and offered great advice about food choices. We both shared the fried spring rolls as an appetizer. For my entree, I had the Chicken Pad Zu. Spoon, I like to call it an oldie but goodie! I've never been disappointed with my meal and the service is consistent. My go to dish is the basil fried rice Thai hot with shrimp added, on my recent visit I decided to switch it up and add crab meat and shrimp, it was $29. I personally feel like the Thai Hot here is much milder than other establishments so if you enjoy spicy you may want to get the Mama Hot level. I also enjoyed an order of shrimp in blanket $12, spring rolls, $6, and a lychee martini, $12. Everything was delicious and plates were cleaned. The martini was filled to the rim and served with a lychee.   The restaurant is located in the Ormewood Shopping Center and provides free parking. There is inside and outside dining, and a small bar inside. You can also place to go orders and the restaurant is currently adding 20% gratuity for dining in which I personally think is acceptable. read more

Spoon is my go-to Thai restaurant. It has a special place in my heart because it was the location of my hubby and I's first date. It is a casual place with a parking lot that always has spaces available. We usually sit outside on the patio with our furbaby, but also inside at one of the many tables and the bar. The servers are always friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, but not hovering. I switch between their cocktails depending on my mood, just like I switch between all their yummy food. The food is always delicious and consistent. Our go-to would be the Pad Thai with shrimp because of its excellent flavor, and their noodles are super soft. The Panang curry is another favorite. I had takeout from Spoon today via my work. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with the basil stir fry. For my protein choice, I went with mixed veggies. Normally, I'm used to the base pay for protein choice remaining the same when you merely get veggies instead of chicken, beef, etc., but it appears to be a $2 charge for veggies and of course more if you get meat. Onto my experience: the rice had a nice texture and taste, and the stir fry had good flavor and spice. Unfortunately poor takeout experience. The staff who took my takeout order (placed in person) was very nice and I had high expectations of the food. I ordered roti masuman, Tom yum soup with chicken and cashew with shrimps. Roti masuman was okay. The Tom yum soup obtained was a very small one and less than half filled with literally two very small pieces of chicken. Similarly the shrimp and cashew stir fry only had 5 extremely small sized shrimps and was filled with veggies. Even the cashews were 4-5 in number. My total was 40 dollars which for the quality and quantity of food is an unreasonable price. I had high expectations from this place but extremely poor experience. Do not recommend! read more

Last Thursday, I noticed this spot while parking to go into another restaurant. Its nice little hidden jewel, with a patio. I ordered the crab friend rice, and my friend had pad thai with chicken. The food came out fast. We didn't drink adult beverages. There was a woman at the bar that said shes been coming for 2 years and highly recommend the lychee martini. They allow dogs on the patio. I'm pretty sure they lost or missed the order. But it was worth the wait. Some of the best Thai we've had. I liked the vibe of the place inside. The people were nice. I can see us coming back here to dine in. Small-ish dining area but comfortable. Parking could get challenging on a weekend night I imagine because the lot is relatively small and it's shared with several other establishments. But the quality of the meal outweighs any of that.
