Called in the morning for a repair due to a leaking water heater connection. I was given an appointment window of 10:30a-12:30p, later I received a call that there was a delay with the technician " he got started late" and they would need to push back my appointment time to 1p-3p. At almost 2p I get another call that the technician will not be able to arrive today. That the current customer job is" complicated". They will have to reschedule for tomorrow. Meanwhile I have a leak in my garage. I would have appreciated better communication and more transparency with the availability for repair. I felt jerked around. I would have made additional efforts early on to find another company if I was going to be rescheduled to the next day. So I called another company " Water Heaters Only" which arrived within 45 min. My hot water went out yesterday morning. I went on Yelp and requested quotes to come out and diagnose my issue. I picked Payless from all the responses I received on Yelp. Payless was fast and responsive in sending someone out. I think it was less than 2 hours from the time I texted Payless to the time Tony showed up at my door. Tony was very professional and courteous. Tony looked at my water heater and told me that the water heater was more than 20 years old and should probably be replaced. He gave me an estimate on what it would cost to repair and the price to replace. There were three packages to choose from for replacing the water heater - from lower cost to premium(platinum). I went with the platinum package. Tony got to work right away and finished the install of the new water heater in about 4 hours. He explained the features of the new water heater and the warranties. I asked if he could look at my kitchen sink before leaving. For the last few years the hot water from my kitchen sink faucet was coming out with low pressure. Tony looked at it and found a clog, fixed it and now I have great pressure on the hot water in my kitchen. There was no charge for fixing the kitchen sink clog. The hot water is working great now throughout my condo. It's been a very good experience working with Payless. They were quick and very professional at a competitive cost. Working with Payless Water Heaters was easy and efficient. I called on a Sunday with issues with our water heater. Evan came out later that same day to diagnose the problem. Within 20 minutes he was ready to go over the options with me - repair the tank, get a new tank, or get a tankless. We had been talking about tankless for a while, so I asked for those options and he was ready to go over all those details with me. He emailed me quotes to go over with my partner. The next day I called with our decision to go tankless and I was able to schedule an appointment for the same day (Monday). Jared came earlier than the given appointment window, which worked out for us so we appreciated that. He got to work right away, had our water back on pretty quickly, kept everything clean, and was finished with the job even faster than anticipated. Really great experience with Payless and particularly with excellent technician Jared B. No emergency in our case - just a 19 yr old gas water heater making loud violent knocking noises all the time. Jared came at 4 pm (in my requested time slot) after I called the previous afternoon and did full inspection and explained all new codes and requirements and gave me a quote within my budget - and said he could install it immediately. 2 hours later - no more knocking, hotter water and no surprises. Enjoyed chatting with Jared as well. Great attitude and nice young man - even despite toiling away in a tight corner of our hot garage for 2 hours. THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HONOR WARRANTIES. We had a new water heater installed two years ago after our old one rusted out. Last night I came home to a completely flooded garage. I made an appointment for a service call between 9am and 11am. The technician didn't make it to our house until 2:30pm. Bad enough already, but understandable, things happen, you were busy. After a quick glance at the heater, technician tells us we need a new unit. Again, it's only been two years. No worries though, we have a warranty, right? WRONG. Apparently labor isn't included. You installed a unit TWO YEARS ago and are going to just wipe your hands of us like that? Seems to me that you either installed a faulty unit (which is on you) or it wasn't installed correctly (which is also on you). How does it fall to me to cover the cost of fixing your mistakes? You are preying on people and it's disgusting. read more

From the time of setting up my appointment to the final execution, Payless was perfect. I was told that Ezequiel would come at a certain time and he was in fact 30 mins early. I definitely did not Pay Less! Cost was ridiculously expensive, close to $700 for a part that Home Depot carried for less than $200. I was over a barrel and pretty desperate; I guess they bank on that. I was advised work would only take about 20-30" so the extra expense wasn't in actual labor. My water heater was leaking for a while and I had just noticed it yesterday. I called Payless Water Heaters on the same day and talked to a pleasant young lady who took my call. She made an appointment to send a technician on the same day between 3-6 PM. Sal, the technician showed up and provided me with an estimate. This was my second estimate for replacing the water heater. Sal was super nice and friendly and sounded very professional and knowledgeable compared to the first technician who came from a different company earlier. The Payless Water Heater estimate was a bit higher than the earlier estimate but they were kind enough to work out a different plan with me. Long story short, I decided to go with Sal (Payless Water Heaters) because I felt that they would do a better job. He made an appointment to come the next day around 8:30 in the morning. They were very professional and kept me informed by text messages on the time of his arrival. He showed up on time and replaced the water heater in 95+ degrees condition. I was very surprised how pleasant he was the entire time on such a hot day. He did a fantastic job and I am very very pleased. I even asked him for a quote on another job. Great price and awesome service. I had a new water heater installed with drip pan. Other companies required that I do expensive an 210 valve and expansion to have them install it. Payless was much more reasonable and suggested the much better (and less expense) option of just drilling a hole in the wall to allow the overflow drain to drain outside of the house. This makes much more sense and they were the only ones to suggest it. Michael S, the technician was friendly, showed up on time, and took less than 2 hours to complete the install. The water heater looks great I would highly recommend Payless water heaters in Irvine to anyone. They also carry Bradford White brand water heaters which is great since that was the brand of my last water heater and that lasted 15 years with no issues. Called in and the lady told me after 15 minutes that unfortunately your appointment did not make it on our board, here are our earliest times that we can come out. USE ANOTHER COMPANY!!!! Where to begin. Oh yes, two years ago, my wife and I had a new water heater installed and was told by the technician that there was a parts and labor warranty for 6 years on the water heater. We're happy and expect the water heater to last quite a while. Fast forward 2 years and my wife walks into our flooded garage because the water heater broke and began leaking. We have a 6 year warranty though so we're good. NOPE!! We were told a technician would arrive between 9 - 11 am to fix the water heater and didn't show up until 2:30 pm. We're ok with that because stuff happens but then when the technician calls his boss who is the Manager and his name is JOSH, Josh told his technician to tell us parts and labor are not included and it was going to cost over $1,000 to install a new water heater. With the warranty, to install a new water heater, it almost cost as much to install as if we didn't have a warranty. This was unacceptable and we told Manager Josh we were told by his technician when installed that it was all covered. That wasn't good enough for Josh. Josh refused to honor what his employee had stated but then began throwing numbers at us as if he was giving us a discount to get a new water heater installed, which they either installed incorrectly, or installed a faulty heater. Either way, it was their mistake they needed to fix, but they refused to do so. So after numerous attempts to explain to Josh about how his company was not honoring what his employee told us, he said he'd call his boss, the owner to explain the situation, but Josh said his boss probably wouldn't honor any sort of discount, which wasn't comforting. Josh said the best price he could do was a little over $900 for the install of the water heater we had a warranty on. So, after Josh speaks to his boss, what do you know the number comes down to $500, so the $900 was not the best he could do. They were just throwing numbers around and could have honored the warranty and what the employee told us, but to make a little bit of money, they didn't want to work with us. We were stuck in a corner and had to pay the $500. This company is sickening and disgusting and would never recommend anyone use this company as you will get screwed out of money and flat out lied to. Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go to ANOTHER COMPANY who is honest and trustworthy because now we have another water heater installed by a company who doesn't honor what they tell their customers. Payless Water Heaters is and should be a no go for anyone looking to get one installed. On a positive note, Technician Josh, not to be mistaken with Manager Josh was amazing and very courteous and professional. He should work for a different company that appreciates people.
