Since Chinese food always seems to expand, it lasts me for multiple meals and this order was no exception. I got a chicken fried rice, beef lo mein and egg flower soup. All of it was good enough but none of it was amazing. I was initially looking forward to all the leftovers but after eating on it for a couple of days I found that I was bored with it, which isn't usually the case with Chinese food. We ordered pickup from here and it was just okay. Plates weren't terribly flavorful even though you could see plenty of garlic. During my quarantine, I have had the chance to try out a number of restaurants that I wouldn't normally frequent. PB Oriental is one of those places. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Entree, Bulgogi Combo, Lo Mein, and Egg Rolls. While the Chicken and Bulgogi were smaller servings than I expected for $13 and $15 respectively, the Bulgogi tasted good while the Chicken was TERRIBLE. It was cooked to the point that it had the feeling of sawdust and the chicken simply had a squeeze of 'teriyaki' sauce over the top of it. The limited amount of sauce was also fairly tasteless and did not add anything to the dish. Thankfully GrubHub refunded me for that dish, though it did cause my grandmother to then not have any food. The rest of the meal was acceptable and I don't know what made the chicken so terrible, but I also don't know how they could have let that dish leave their kitchen. If you didn't already know parking in PB is pretty much non-existent. It took me a good 15+ min circling around just to find a spot to pick up my order. I might be going out on a limb here but I'd say that's the best Honey Walnut Shrimp I've had in San Diego County! They give you big pieces of shrimp, I'm wondering if they're prawns? Anyway, the quality of it was amazing especially for a casual takeout place. You can taste how fresh it was and the honey mayonnaise sauce was made so well! Great consistency! The cream cheese wontons were just ok. I really wish PB Oriental opened up another location that's more easily accessible and with a parking lot. Open one up in Kearny Mesa please! I've eaten here probably ten times now and they are only improving. They're no Din Tai Fung but they get a 5 as far as PB Chinese food is concerned. We were really lacking any decent Chinese food and I'm happy to finally have a good one down the street. We really like the Mongolian beef, walnut shrimp, Kung Pao shrimp, hot n sour soup, wontons and egg rolls. I've tried the beef yakisoba and the crispy chicken and I wasn't a fan. The beef in the Mongolian beef has been tender and delicious each time we've ordered it (5 times?). Came here on a Friday night and dined in. There was only one person taking the take out orders and waiting on the tables so service was mediocre. We ordered the vegetable lo mein, and general tso's chicken both came out extremely fast! Lunch with my wife lead us to this fine place. Walked in to a nice clean place with some great smells coming from the kitchen. We decided on the bento lunches ( Bulgogi and beef/chicken teriyaki) with a vegetable tempura as an appetizer. A miso soup was served first which was quite good. It had a more rich flavor than the ones we have had at other restaurants. The tempura arrived hot with a light and crispy coating. It had good flavor without the greasy after taste. The bento boxes arrived with a good serving of rice, salad, crispy cream cheese wontons, and the main dish. The bulgogi had good flavored marinade; not so sweet to mask the flavor of the beef. The teriyaki sauce for the chicken and beef was once again good and tempered in the amount of sugar as to allow the taste of the meat. Finally, the service was great. Greeted nicely and made sure we had everything we needed to have a good meal. Highly recommend PB Oriental for a good meal. read more

Good "Chinese" food in PB...who knew! Went here after receiving an email from Yelp about new locations to eat in PB. My wife and I ordered the Chicken Lo Mein (Yum!), Beef Fried Rice (Meh!), PB Crispy Chicken (Sooo Good!) and some cream cheese Wontons (ok). First, don't order anything completely fried from any restaurant when you are ordering take-out (which we did) or delivery because it will be soggy; which our Wontons were (but still tasted ok). Second, do yourself a favor and order the PB Crispy Chicken; it was super tasty! I can't describe the flavor; it is unique. Third, don't order the fried rice, I was SUPER disappointed with this...seemed like they did not cook it long enough or needed more soy sauce. Whatever it was, I felt like I could have made something similar at my house (which is the reason for the loss of a star). Overall, the staff is very friendly and answered all of our questions about the menu. The place is small, but clean. And, the food is good!
