I always order from this place on Doordash. Best pan dulce in Oakland. Made fresh EVERY time. My partner and I love their Ojo de gueys but enjoy all the pan we've tried from here.

This little bakery is hands down the best pan dulce in the area. All varieties are fresh, fully stocked and taste outstanding. The ladies who work there are extremely nice and helpful. Also, the coffee is good and hot and nice to grab on the way out. You do have to pay a small fee for a box but it is worth it. If you are looking for the best Pan Dulce in the entire Bay Area, this is is definitely the place.

The sheet of cheesecake 'bread' was very tasty after a meal. It's a much lighter version of an heavy American cheesecake.

A true gem. Tarts de…read moreFeybesse creates some of the most beautiful and artistic pastries in the area. Every item feels thoughtfully crafted and almost too pretty to eat. Almost. What makes them even more special is the Filipino-French influence woven throughout their creations. The flavors feel both familiar and unexpected, bringing a unique twist to classic pastries that you won't find just anywhere. Perfect for special occasions or simply when you want to treat yourself!

Jamie W and I decided to pay a visit after our gym workout because we figured we could reward ourselves for breaking a sweat. Arriving in the last hour before closing, we were happily anticipatory that their display case was still well stocked. It was no surprise how gorgeous it was. We had seen the Instagram photos of the visually striking, trompe l'oeil "fruit" pastries (Photo 6). They were indeed mini-works of art with thin, white-chocolate shells that easily crack open to reveal appropriately sweet fillings. We limited ourselves to four items because we didn't want to get carried away...literally. Besides, they weren't cheap. Our priciest item was the $14.50 Peanut shaped like a giant peanut shell and filled with a light peanut butter mousse. There was also a strawberry gelee and a crisp peanut butter wafer that helped reflect the intended PBJ concept. It was just a bit sweet for me. The second item, the $12 Coconut, was my favorite. It was designed to look like a perfectly cracked open coconut with the outer hull made of textured milk chocolate and the "meat" made of white chocolate (Photo 7). The macapuno entremet core reflected co-owner Monique Feybasse's Filipino background. It consisted of coconut whipped cream mousse freckled with macapuno and coconut shavings, and a chocolate coconut sponge cake. The entirety was a true tropical experience. The $8.50 Pistachio Eclair was the most straightforward of the quartet with a golden pate-a-choux shell, pistachio pastry cream with a matcha-like powder, and chopped pistachios (Photo 10). The basic approach taken was enhanced by the quality of the execution. The $4.50 Madeleine was a comparative bargain and quite a treat, providing a soft-crumbed sponge cake covered in a pistachio coating shaped like a seashell (Photo 9). Monique and her husband Paul clearly know what they're doing, having extensive experience in Michelin-starred restaurants like the acclaimed Geranium in Copenhagen. On Sunday afternoon, there was a constant stream of customers, many of them regulars who knew exactly what to order. FOOD - 4 stars...craftsmanship and execution are aces, some satisfy more than others, also a bit pricey AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...crowded so hard to tell beyond the striking displays SERVICE - 4 stars...nice though necessarily transactional TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely an eyeful even more than a mouthful RELATED - Exploring Oakland? Arizmendi Bakery is a Bay Area institution and it absolutely earns the hype…read more The pizza alone is worth the trip -- they only do one flavor a day, but whatever's on the rotation is consistently incredible. Thick, chewy, perfectly charred crust with a sourdough tang that you just don't get from regular pizza dough. Toppings are fresh and generous without being overloaded. Grab a slice (or a whole pie) and you'll understand why people plan their day around what flavor is being served. The sourdough bread is just as good -- crackly crust, open airy crumb, and that deep tangy flavor that tells you it's been properly fermented. This isn't supermarket sourdough; it's the kind of loaf that makes plain butter taste like a gourmet experience. It's a worker-owned cooperative too, which makes supporting them feel even better. Expect a line, especially on weekends, but it moves quickly and is so worth the wait.
