tables and chairs in a restaurant

Seating is located inside and outside. On a Tuesday afternoon we found enough available seats. We chose to sit indoors. There's stairs that lead up. I didn't get to go up but I'm assuming that's more seating. Love the touch of real peacocks walking around. I saw two walking around the outdoors of this restaurant. The menu consists of a limited option of meals; yet, it's just right. We ordered the tuna flatbread, pizza flatbread, burger, chili fries and soda. Everything tasted great and came out all together. The chili fries were served in an abundance that I had enough to bring home. Employees were friendly. When placing our order, the employee was quick and attentive. There was a gentleman walking around asking if all was ok. He was actually the same person to bring our food out.

Very disappointed with the food I asked for a tomato and basil Soup with a grill cheese sandwich and the soup was literately a jar of tomato and basil pour in a bowl and heat up for you The grill cheese sandwich very dry no taste was very plain My experience was very but very disappointed I spend $9.56 for this

Very nice atmosphere. The peacocks keep you company while you dine outside. Its Starbucks meets Convention food. The wife had a burger and chips. I had a half sandwich.

Solid food that comes out speedily. The outdoor/garden seating is really quite nice, too. The Peacock Cafe is a nice alternative if you can't get a seat at Rat's Restaurant. It's within the Grounds for Sculpture, so make sure you're taking that in!

Delicious hot sweet potatoes fries with maple syrup for dipping.

Quick service. Food is hot. I like a snack/lunch counter that offers a lot of selection and this place does. They do not have ice cream but we had their sweet potato fries and the grilled cheese with French fries and it was amazing. Fast service. My husband got a kind bar and they also have cookies and brownies if you like that. Employees were really nice.

    Falafel wrap with side salad

I got a falafel wrap, which came with a side salad, and a latte. It was definitely above average food for this type of venue (located inside Grounds for Sculpture), and lower than average prices. The falafel had a bit of spice and good flavor. The salad was just OK. Good choice when visiting the garden.

Good quality and reasonable prices for a museum café. Great setting amid art and strolling peacocks. Salads, soup and sandwiches.

It was…read morenoon when the doors opened and inside stood one poor young man tasked with running the entire dining room by himself. This was not a metaphor. This was a fact. And yet he performed a yeoman's job, moving from table to table with the calm bravery of someone who has accepted his fate and decided to try his best to do right by strangers anyway. The room itself was lovely, still dressed up for the holidays like a house that refuses to admit the season has moved on. It was pleasant to sit there and feel briefly insulated from the outside world, which was surely still doing whatever it does to people who skip lunch. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Risotto. It was delicious, earthy and comforting, the sort of dish that suggests someone in the kitchen cares. The portion, however, was modest for the price, leaving me fed but contemplative. My companions ordered a Caesar salad with salmon and a wedge salad with chicken, and both appeared content, which is often the highest praise one can expect at midday. With tip, the bill came to about one hundred dollars for three people at lunch, which felt a bit steep for what landed on the table. There is no crime in that, but it does linger in the mind afterward. So here we are. A good meal, a kind and overworked server, a pleasant room, and food that was enjoyable but not generous. Given the abundance of good eating options nearby, it will probably be a while before I return. I do not regret going. I am simply aware that time, money, and lunches are all finite things. Which is something worth remembering anywhere you eat, including places you like.

It had been more than a year since my last visit to Marty's Place. Time flies!…read more I was driving by this morning after court, having skipped breakfast at home in order to get a jump on traffic going into the city. I saw a new sign out front on a Bud Light white board that breakfast was now being served 7 days a week! Hot diggity! I parked out back and walked in to a mostly empty bar (2 customers who looked like they were regulars). The bartender approached and we engaged about their breakfast menu. It was pretty wide open if my desires had anything to do with eggs. They did. I opted for a sausage, egg and cheese on Kaiser roll, and mug of java. While it was being created in the kitchen I watched a show about exotic car auctions. A Borgati opening at a cool million bucks was an eye opener. Another black transport used by John Lennon around London was also put up and sold. Pretty cool entertainment. The sandwich was great! Double patty, fried egg, American cheese and a fresh, quality roll, made for a tasty and fun meal. The side of homefries was likewise excellent - hot, crisp and spicy with sautéed onions in the mix. Coffee, strong and kicking. The only shortcomings were the lack of a joe refill offering, and lack of utensils. Luckily, I had a spoon from the coffee, which was fine as a shovel. Afterall, Marty's is still a wonderful corner dive. It was made for comfort, not for speed, nor etiquette.

I asked for the lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. I also got cheese on the burger, which i believe was white American. It was so juicy, flavorful and the right temp, and didn't need any condiments. The Italian Kaiser bun has mixed reviews on Yelp, but I was a huge fan. It tasted great and sopped up the burger juices. Rossi's is an area institution. In Trenton from 1933-2014 and then in Mercerville for the past 11 years. It has tons of old photos on th wall of the OG Rossi's and the people that ate there, like Joe DiMaggio. It was huge space with a bar, tables and booths. With the girth of the burger and at the price (May 2025, $16.68 with tax), it should have been presented with fries or a side salad, not just a la carte. Nevertheless, I'm a big fan!

Years ago I took him to the original Rossi's in Chambersburg after they won WIP radio host Glen Macnow's best burger contest. The place felt smoky and cramped and alive, a beating heart of the local community. So he came back to town and said, Take me to Rossi's. I want that burger again. The new Rossi's is bigger and brighter and very aware of its own legend. The website still shouts proudly about the award winning burger, the kind of pride that lingers long after the parade has packed up and the confetti has been swept into the gutter. The official burger of Polk High. We ordered the famous burger. It arrived on a soft roll, thick and respectable, cooked properly enough. The beef had that loose packed texture that once made it special, a little craggy, a little juicy. It was, in a word, fine. It didn't part the heavens, and it didn't cause my friend to close his eyes and whisper my name in gratitude. It was just a hamburger. The fries were plentiful and hot. There is still a sports bar soul here, sort of. Televisions glow and beer flows, albeit very VERY slowly. The menu stretches wide with wings, sandwiches, steaks, things for people who want something other than beef on a bun. It feels like a place that knows how to feed a crowd after a Little League game or a retirement home on an afternoon outing. The service was friendly in the way a distracted and rarely seen cousin is friendly at Thanksgiving. Smiles, sure. Refills, eventually. Our server moved with the gentle chaos of someone juggling too many plates and not enough time or help. Nothing disastrous happened. Nothing especially polished happened either. We waited, ee watched and we ate. When my friend took a bite,he nodded politely. He said, "It's good." This is not what he said all those years ago in Chambersburg when grease ran down his wrist and he declared it the best burger in the state with the certainty of Biff Tannen with a Sports Almanac in his back pocket. Restaurants age and legends settle into routine. Rossi's feels like it is living comfortably on stories of past glory. There is nothing wrong with the food, but there is nothing thrilling about it either. If you are nearby and hungry, you'll be fed and you'll leave full. If you're chasing a memory, you may just find that memory tastes better than the present.
