I think I am fully addicted to their Thai Tom Yum reduction. This review is long overdue, but I have tried many dishes from them and the Thai Tom Yum reduction just hits the spot every single time. The savory flavors, the soft egg over the rice, the mushrooms. So comforting with every bite. The service is always up to par and the atmosphere is quaint and relaxing. There is space to move around and sit comfortably. As a plus, their cocktails are also quite delectable. When you can't decide on what to eat for lunch... Thai Tom Yum reduction is the way to go. The Peak opened around a month ago at the end of Webster in Alameda. The ambiance is minimalist with diners seated in a large, high ceilinged, rectangular room that can get drafty and echoey. Very good service but items are pricey and need refinement compared to more established SE Asian restaurants on Webster. I've been to Peak twice and wanted to sample a few more dishes before writing this review. We liked some dishes and others were a complete miss. Here's what we tried: Roti with Curry Dipping Sauce - flat, not puffy or airy, Roti with a tasty dipping sauce. Decent version that is a bit small. Peak's version is similar to a green onion pancake without the green onions. Crispy Calamari with Spicy Mayo - lots of small pieces, crispy as stated per the menu. Possibly add another sauce like a sweet and spicy chutney. Larb Chicken - small salad that feeds two. We'd pass on this tasteless and dry version. Needs something - more dressing? Fried Trout with Apple Salad - suggest tossing the salad with more dressing and placing the fried trout on top of the mixed salad. The trout was hidden below and loses its crisp underneath the bland salad. I think this menu item is unique and could be a signature item with a little re-work. Applaud the creativity and pairing and just need to work on the execution of this fusion-like item. I would prefer the trout on top as it is the central item of this dish - don't hide it! Keep it crispy. Pad See Ew - good sized portion however we chose beef which ended up being chewy. Tasted almost on point with the light sweet soy, however the flat noodles needed more Wok Mei taste from a bit more frying in the wok. Or just need a more well seasoned wok? Crab Fried Rice - large order with not much crab and tasted very plain. Tasteless fried rice that we'd definitely pass on. We had a much better version nearby. Khao Soi - Peak's version is with fried noodles in a sweet and tangy soup. I personally liked this version with the crispy fried noodles. Would return just for this. Smoked Duck Curry - I liked this version with slices of duck, pineapple chunks, and a sweet red curry sauce. Mango Sticky Rice - average version that was neither a hit or miss. Overall, excellent service with some good dishes while more than a few items need refinement. Peak does well with the curry sauced items while the salads need a bit more zing or spice to make them memorable. Peak has been open for over a month and adjusting some dishes would make it a welcome addition to the competitive SE Asian restaurant scene on lower Webster. read more

I started with the Garden Rolls with Avocado, and they were so fresh. Crisp vegetables, creamy avocado, and the peanut sauce tied everything together perfectly. For mains, I tried a few of their new dishes: * Kana Moo Krob - crispy pork belly stir-fried with a flavorful garlic sauce and Chinese broccoli. * Tom Yum Ramen - bold, tangy, and comforting with a rich broth and fresh seafood. * Pla Sam Ros - the fried branzino was cooked beautifully and topped with a sweet, sour, and spicy pineapple sauce. Oh man, been here a few times and finally got a chance to review. Their service is fantastic, very attentive and food comes out fast. My bf and I have only been there brunch hours (on weekends) and surprisingly not too long of a wait. This time I got the smoked salmon Benedict, and let me tell you - I almost started to levitate. It was that freaking good. The hollandaise sauce pairs so well with the smoked salmon and the tater tots are just *chefs kiss*. My bf got the Peak, a little maple heavy if you asked me but he finished his whole plate. And please, get the Thai iced coffee for brunch. You won't regret it. Hands down one of the BEST restaurants in Alameda! Peak has quickly become our absolute favorite spot in town. We've been here five times already (and counting!), and every single visit leaves us raving about the food. On our most recent visit, I had the eggplant stir-fry with chicken and purple rice--perfectly balanced with a bit of spice, not too sweet, and packed with flavor. The portion was generous without being overwhelming. My friend had the chicken sandwich on a croissant, and it looked incredible. Another had the "Super Bowl" (teriyaki salmon, rice, avocado, cucumbers, almonds, cranberries)--a gorgeous mix of fresh, hearty, and healthy. My mom loved the salmon cream cheese toast, which she now talks about regularly. I've also had the chicken and waffles which had them moist delicious chicken I've ever had. The soft opening has a pretty expansive menu 4.5/5 Brioche Toast with Pandan Cream was flavorful, not too sweet, and coconut ice cream complemented well. Wish the cream was a bit thicker and there was some crunchy element or fruit 3.5/5 Smoked Duck Benedict tasted more like smoked ham actually, less so duck, and did not have much meat. My eggs were slightly overdone so did not have much runny yolk. Potatoes were soft and wished it had more of a pan char 4/5 Thai Tom Yum Reduction was flavorful and the sauce (tart and sweet) went well with everything. The tornado egg looks nice and covered the rice, helping keep the rice from getting too soggy. Some optional spice levels would be nice to add on! The service was excellent and the food was good. There was plenty of shrimp in our soup. The atmosphere was not yet where it needs to be. The room echoes and amplifies sound from other tables. They are at a soft opening state, and hopefully they add enough soft furnishing to dampen the noise from other tables. Our visit was ruined because one group was laughing so loudly four tables away during the entire time we were there. We did not ask them to quiet down, because they're absolutely entitled to have a good time. We started looking at their menu - which was giving Lover by Taylor Swift bec of all the pastel color. They have a lot of items that were unique so we were pretty excited. I ended up getting the Uncle Sam's fried rice and my friend got the yellow curry. I also got a glass of ginger ale. The food came in super quick which was nice as my friend and I were both hungry. Overall the food wasn't bad, could use a little seasoning on the fried rice. The chicken was good. The serving was also great. I also ordered the Peak to go for my bf and he said it was ok. I visited peak for dinner and this place did not disappoint. We ordered a variety of dishes including apps and entrees and I enjoyed everything. My favorite dishes were the calamari (this is a must) and the fried rice with the fried chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it was well seasoned and very flavorful. We finally tried out Peak last weekend and I thought it was quite yummy! It's a Thai style brunch spot with regular Thai dishes as well. We went on Saturday around noon and there was no wait. It's a much bigger space than I expected! I got the smoked duck benedict while the bf got chicken and waffles, and we got some Camaro to share. The calamari was nice and crispy with a spicy mayo sauce. I really liked the smoked duck benedict. They use sour dough instead of English muffin and include a pesto spread underneath the duck. I wasn't sure how I would feel about the pesto with the hollandaise sauce as well, but everything was actually nicely balanced. The pesto wasn't too overpowering. The duck also had good flavor. I wasn't sure also pleasantly surprised by the rainbow potatoes! I thought they would just be plain and maybe a bit soft, but they were nice and crispy! I loved how it came with a mix of normal potatoes as well as sweet potatoes! I think the bf didn't like the chicken and waffles as much, but it might have been because it was more of a fusion flavor with the sweet chili sauce. I'm not a huge fan of sweet chili so it was just alright to me. I'd def go back for the benedict and the calamari though! And I def want to try some of their other Thai dishes. Panake was fluffy and had good taste with the caramel syrup. While bacon was nice and crisp. Smashed avocado with eggs Benedict was yummy. Just like how one would imagine those two things mix together over a toast. Uncle Tom fried rice was mediocre. Rice tasted not only bland but semi-hard. Only thing that was good was the fried chicken wings. Perhaps getting the fried chicken fried rice would have been the better option. Mushroom egg toast is a good option for anyone wanting a hearty protein brunch but no meat. Fried chicken waffle was very filling. The go all out on the huge piece of fried chicken. The creme brûlée French toast was DIVINE, one of the better desserts I've had in a long time, greedily I wish they'd put the two pieces side by side and brûlée them both, otherwise it's perfection. Im the Alameda neighborhood, I love to try something new restaurants here, especially Thai foods is my favorite food. Bring my family to try Peak Thai cuisine for lunch today, the service is ok, the place is pretty big, however most of the foods we tried were bad and very disappointed. Pak see ew, taste so salty, duck curry temperature is cold Duck meat texture tastes like frozen long times , dry and lack of flavor. Thai boat noodles only few pieces of meats, noodles base is too salty, thick sauce and not enough soup at all. Tom Yum soup no flavor and tastes like salt water. We have only 3 adults and 1 child and 1 kid. They automatically charged us 20% gratuity without any notice and even hide the gratuity charge and still show the credit card machine and ask us to pay extra tips. The serve said we had large party, what I understand large party is 6 people and up. The server thought we don't know about the rules. We are willing to pay tips and even more for the restaurant. Basic on the service and food. I think they are cheating on customers. (they counted us 10 party on the bill!!!) NOT recommended and please check the bill!! Peak is a wonderful restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. I went for the first time on March 27 for a birthday luncheon for two friends. We were a party of 14 and everyone was delighted with the food. One lady said it was the best Thai food she had had outside of Thailand. I worked with Fawn the owner who was extremely helpful and kind. I have already returned twice to Peak for dinner and brunch. Both times the food was excellent. My partner and I have had breakfast/brunch here three weeks in a row. We love this new find in our home town. I love the fried chicken here. So far I have had it in a croissant, on top of pad thai and also on top of pad see ew. Next time I will try it on a waffle. Everyone is very nice, professional and helpful. The only bad thing I can say about this place is that there is only one bathroom for everybody so don't wait until the last minute to use it because there could be a line.
