Chinese food in Granby? You bet! After spending four days in the area, we were looking for something other than Mexican, barbecue, and steaks. The Yelp ratings and reviews were very good. However, we were concerned that the expectations might have been low given that it is pretty much the only Chinese restaurant in the area. Situated at the far end of town, the outside and inside of the building is not impressive and is pretty plain. The restaurant is rather small (seating for perhaps 40?). There was only one open table when we arrived, which we took as a very good sign. Also, most patrons appeared to be locals, which we also considered to be a good sign. Service was prompt and friendly. The menu is extensive and offers all of the traditional entrees. We were quite hungry and ordered pot stickers to share at a starter. My wife ordered wonton soup and I ordered hot and sour soup. We then shared chicke, shrimp and steak lo mein as well as an order of the cashew chicken. The portions were huge and everything was very good. In fact, we had plenty of food leftover that we looked forward to having another day. Was it the best Chinese food we have ever had? No. However the prices are very reasonable and the food and service very good. In summary, the Yelp reviews and ratings well represented the experience. read more

This is a fantastic place. We were sad that dine in wasn't available, however the food and service more than made up for it. The food was DELICIOUS, we ordered broccoli beef, cashew chicken, appetizers and soup. Tons of food for the price (we did the meal for two). The ladies working were so friendly and efficient. We arrived for lunch and it looked like they were super packed but we only ended up waiting about 5 minutes for a table for 4. There are signs everywhere saying to be patient because they are short staffed but we had excellent service e throughout the meal. The lunch specials are huge and the soups and appetizers were very good. The entrees were plentiful and also very good with lots of meat and different veggies. The only drawback is the fried rice was pretty bland but there was a ton of it. read more

This was our 1st visit to Granby so we used online reviews a lot to help us find places to eat. Being a small town, choices are always limited, but Yelp came through again. If you want really good food this place should not disappoint you. They were short handed so we got ours to take out and went back to our condo and ate on the patio. We split an order of Spicy Garlic Chicken and fried rice and two egg rolls. We had enough food for 4 plates so we easily had seconds on the main dish. We did notice that the restaurant was small and if I rated just the restaurant decor it would be around a 2 Star ( like another reviewer described as a wall-in-the-wall) but with really good food. If you can get past the image of the interior, the food that they serve is worth trying. We noticed a lot of locals had call-in orders on the counter waiting to be picked up. If you don't won't to wait, and you have a place to eat outside or not too far of a drive back, you could do a takeout and still have a good meal. If we went back I would not have a problem with dinning in. Just up to you and if they have the staffing. I posted a single photo of our food on a plate from our patio with our wine. The food taste better than my photo can do justice to it, but we were able to get two more servings from a single order. Hope this helps. Also, the guy at the register who took our order was very friendly and helpful. Update: We ate here twice and both times were take out and both times the different dishes were both very good. I should point out that we had the order of fried rice to go with our entree, so that made the single order enough for 3 and possible 4 people to share. I know this restaurant is 2nd highest on yelp, but we ate at both twice, the #1 and #2 rated ( M.C. being #1) and I think the pearl dragon should be the #1 for the food. Also, during our 2nd visit on a Wednesday at 6:30pm the place was packed with locals and they had a 20 min wait, along with call in orders leaving out the door, like us. Came here for dinner after spending the day in Rocky Mountain National Park and becoming very hungry. We walked in and the line was very long, but we only waited about three minutes to order as the staff was super efficient and quick to get through the line. Everything we ordered was amazing. Being vegetarian, this can be hit or miss. The mooshu was delicious, and it was the first time I was ever able to order chop suey, which was also delicious and felt really healthy. The servings were plentiful and made great leftovers. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting for dine in when it is allowed or take out. read more

My girlfriend and I went tubing in Fraser, and decided we wanted to eat something different. That's when we found Pearl Dragon. First when you come in you're greeted by nice and attentive staff where they waste no time in taking your order. The food was amazing, I got the Beef Lo Mein, and my girlfriend the Chicken Chow Mein. This place is in the middle of nowhere. I wasn't expecting much. I was just grateful I could get something besides diner food or fast food. Much to my astonishment, this place provided the best Chinese food I've ever had - and I've had Chinese food in several places in San Francisco, and dozens of places in Chicago. The sizzling rice soup was merely good (every place has their best dishes). The chow fun was out of this world. The egg rolls were were among the best I've had. The tofu steak was astounding. This place is fantastic. We were visiting Granby, CO from Dallas, TX and every time we drove by this place was packed. We stopped in and got our food to go. The helpings on each dish were enormous and the food was cooked fresh and cooked quickly. The Lemon Chicken was easily the best I've ever had. Only giving 4 stars because it is a bit higher on the price scale compared to other Chinese food places. We got 3 regular meals and it cost $50. read more

Probably the best Chinese food I've ever had in my life. Lynn, the owner is the most enthusiastic, lovely person I've ever met. You can tell everything is made with love. The service is amazing. Our dishes for the evening were the wonton soup, the egg drop soup, and The hot and sour soup. All delicious. We also had the Mongolian beef and the sesame chicken, veggie fried rice, and egg rolls. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the wonton soup and you could tell those beautiful wontons were house made! If you're traveling through Granby and tired of traditional American food and rightfully skeptical of anything other than American food ... do yourself a favor and stop at Pearl Dragon! Traditional Chinese in that the portions are family style - entrees came with a cup of soup. We ordered 3 entrees and tried all 3 soups - wonton, hot and sour, egg drop (favorites in that order). Ordered General Tsao's chicken, chicken fried rice and pork chow mein. The chow mein is not what I was expecting (though I just didn't read the description carefully)... stir fry topped with crispy wontony noodles, but it was tasty, so if you want noodles order the lo mein! Lots of customers are always a good sign and everything that was coming out of the kitchen looked delicious !! read more

Pearl Dragon was some of the most incredible Chinese food I've had (especially the pork lo mein). The mongolian beef was also awesome as well as the other dishes we ordered. To be completely honest, I went in with lower expectations since we were kind of out in the sticks, but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered to go and when we got home their was not only one black hair but two. I called because we threw our food away. They said to take a picture and bring it in. So, i took a picture of the black hair. I have very long blonde hair. There were two women who said people do this just to get free food and wouldn't refund us, after they told us to come in and bring our card in for a refund. This restaurants has a lot of charm and character, and I couldn't be happier with our choice of dining here for lunch during my trip to CO. Upon entering the establishment, you'll find signs plastered that say "understaffed", "lose the 'tude", and "please be patient or go elsewhere" and I couldn't stop laughing because I didn't know what to expect.
