I like what's going on at Peck's, I just don't feel like I'm totally welcome. It's an accumulation of little things, really. The food, which is consistently quite good, takes kindof a while, like 25 minutes for 2 sandwiches and fries. But, should I wait here? Or go sit down somewhere? Am I being waited on? Is that my sandwich that's been sitting on the counter behind the cashier that nobody noticed for the past few minutes? Or the staff member who seemed kindof miffed when my friend asked if they had ketchup. I guess we were supposed to know to get that ourselves somewhere. Why are the trashcans on one side of the backyard and the tray for dishes on the other side? I'm not trying to be picky. I like Peck's. Individually each of these gripes would be perfectly permissible. But they accumulate to a feeling of being unwelcome. Disorder. Peck's has really turned it around and become awesome! I highly recommend the maple biscuit, the Bavarian coffee cake, any of the breakfast sandwiches, the chicken soup, the whole roasted chicken, and the potatoes! The service is friendly and reliable, as is the coffee and cappuccino! Great out door seating, good for kids. Limited indoor seating, but we've sat at the back bar with egg sandwiches and "fenced" in our 15-month-old without issue. They also have a great beer selection! read more

Peck's occupies this liminal space that I will never quite understand. As a whole, Peck's seems more like a clearing house of Brooklyn food trends than a coherent concept. It's simultaneously: 1) a serviceable coffee shop; 2) a lunch counter offering excellent sandwiches (except after 3pm) and not-so-excellent pre-made options; 3) a food market featuring a curious assortment of overpriced not-quite staples (cured meats, spanish cheeses, artisanal hot sauces); 4) a beer shop complete with taps and growlers (though I've never thought to drink there). Like market slash overpriced egg sandwich spot R&D Foods in nearby Prospect Heights, I never know quite what to do or what to get when I'm at Peck's and I'm always shocked by the high prices. I haven't had any of the food here except for a muffin and coffee, but I love the atmosphere and market feel to it. The beers are also super cheap--much cheaper than at a bar. They have a large backyard with lots of seats, although they could definitely fit more. I was here on a warm and sunny Saturday maybe two weeks ago and there were only 3 other people out there. I'm not sure how it is during the summer, but this might be a good option when all of the other bar backyards are crowded. read more

Stopped in for a snack and to keep warm on the cold day. Ordered a tomato soup. It was $8 which seemed pricey but it was worth the money because of the size and taste. Looks like they have a great patio out back for the warmer months. Service was friendly and the menu looked great! Wish I had more time for a larger meal. read more

I've been going here since it opened, and I'll echo what others have said... the service used to be friendly, but in the past year or so has become unbearable. Recently I went in 15min before I had to catch the bus. I had a free drink card, and I wanted to use it on something that might take a little longer, an iced cappuccino...there was 1 person in front of me. 10 min later... I was still waiting to be served- as both of the people behind the counter decided to stock things or just straight-up ignore the patient customer waiting to be served. Since they took forever I saved my drink card for another painful day, there was no time for fancy. I received my 'small cold brew' and it's like 1/2 the size of the 'small' I've been getting there SINCE Peck's opened.. That's right folks they're now serving a smaller small for the SAME price...... I used to defend this place to my roommate, she's always had a hate/love relationship with the service at Peck's.. I can defend no longer. read more

This place is heaven, I wish I lived closer. The food is always amazing and they have great outdoor seating! I don't even know where to start but basically the people who work there are amazing for starters. I love that they have stuff for sale like speciality chocolates, pastas, beers and eggs (the eggs are so fresh and worth it) Yeah they aren't the cheapest place around however it's worth it for the homemade stuff you get with love. I trust any sandwich they invent or have on the menu. The prepared food is super fresh and always delicious I love the hummus, tuna salad, chicken salad and the quinoa salad is good too there's just so much good stuff !!! Don't get me started on the desserts to name a few the rice pudding, babka bun and the black and white are amazing!!! The owner is a great dude, and the staff are just lovely. You want good food to go or to stay out in the beautiful back area they have ? They got it! You want to buy some fancy groceries cause you deserve it ? They got it ! This review is for the COCONUT MACAROONS, we haven't tried anything else (yet). Peck's coconut macaroons are THE BEST WE HAVE EVER TASTED IN OUR ENTIRE LIVES. Don't be swayed by the price tag or anything else about this item. If you have ever enjoyed (or wanted to try) a coconut macaroon, THIS IS THE ESSENTIAL macaroon to compare all others with. (FYI, this is not the same thing as a French macaron.) These make an excellent hostess gift, or really any other kind of gift, including "gift to self". Not sure what else to say except that they are fresh, crunchy, soft, chewy, sweet, and flavorful in all of the right ways. We demolished 6 in a matter of hours. Anxiously awaited this specialty shop from the family that brought the LES Ratner's. From cheese to matzo ball soup and hamantaschen to rotisserie chicken, Peck's has it all. Always a favorite. We love their breakfast sandwiches and danishes for our team meetings they are to die for.

I've been going here since it opened and even though their sandwiches and salads are quite good, the downturn of service is disheartening. Years ago, they had the nicest staff - always smiling and making small talk. Now they are cold and rude. In addition, they have a "turnover" period between breakfast and lunch where they won't serve anything except the prepared foods. I understand the need to change over, but when you don't serve anything to order between 12-1230 or 11-1130 (seems to vary), it's incredible annoying. Especially as those are prime times to be out to order food. And if you have the audacity to order food during that time your treated like an idiot. I'm done with them, which is unfortunate as the sandwiches are good. But frankly, it's Brooklyn - easy to find another spot without the attitude. read more

I realllly am rooting for this place to be awesome but am just so consistently disappointed, particularly with their sandwiches. Everything is pretty expensive, but for a weekend treat, I think to myself, sure, why not. But that $8 egg salad sandwich is blander than bland, the onion roll doing little to mitigate the blandness. It just seems like it could and should be better. Vinegar? Pickles? Salt? Pepper? Their bakery goods, though, are pretty top notch and the only things saving this review from being much lower. Was really in the mood for a fancy egg and cheese sandwich of sorts. Looked on Yelp for a while before coming across this place. They have several different options that all sounded amazing. I got the Egg Shakshouka sandwich and my boyfriend went with the Egg & Cheese with Bacon. Both were so good. The Harissa Tomato Sauce on mine was exactly what I was looking for! Eggs were cooked perfectly -- a little runny -- and the Portuguese Buns that they were served on were soft and delicious. Will definitely be going back! This local food spot deserves to get five stars. This place overall has a very good taste for sandwiches. A lot looks so appealing that you might wanna take a quick bite. The best part and indeed is one of my favorites, the coffee. The coffee is really good, black or added but personally, I like mine with sugar and cream. Also they have good selection of beers to try out or buy. I brought a couple beers to cook and one turn made a pretty damn good beer batter for the fish but i digress. The staff are friendly and pretty relatable to the neighborhood including the selection of music. Also the food like I said before was amazing. New selection of random treats always come out if you don't by the main course like cheese pretzels and vice versa. It a good spot to stop by and grab a bite. Although the only thing that might hurt you a little is money but it ok. If you do go to this spot, if you get anything or not....at least get a coffee(it's worth it). read more

Positive last impression of Brooklyn made me wish we had stepped inside earlier! Peck's walks the line between coffee shop, quick bites, specialty item and craft beer store. The shotgun-style setup isn't a place for groups, but the breakfast sandwiches are next level and certainly fit the bill for Brooklyn hipster quality. Peck's is one of the best coffee shops in the area. Excellent coffee and a good selection of pastries. Everything is freshly baked and prepared. They often have sessional pastries, and special foods for holidays. The baristas are friendly. They sell breakfast sandwiches and prepared food as well. Both are a little pricey, in my opinion, but the quality is worth the price. read more

Today's the day I finally write this review. Peck's, I'm sorry to put you on blast like this but enough is enough. You know when you see a really attractive eligible guy in his late 20's/early30's...so attractive that you're like 'Thank you G-d! You finally noticed my biological clock is about to implode!' and then he opens his mouth and is dumb as rocks? Yeah, it's that disappointing. Ladies- I know you feel me. I've been going there at least 3-4 times a week for the last year. Yes, a YEAR. It's super convenient because I live just across the street and I want my bougie coffee fix and they cater to some of my food issues. I always order the same thing: coffee with almond milk, plus possibly one of their two gluten free sweet things. I see the same people working every morning. I know their names, and by now you'd think they'd know mine. Every morning, they hardly acknowledge me. I smile. I make friendly, sometimes unnecessary small talk just to try to get them to warm up. I tip them(!) Nothing sticks! (I'd say I'm a fairly good looking young lady, for those misogynists wondering.) I've reached the point where I step out my door to go over and I brace myself for a disappointing start to my day. Don't you just wanna go where everybody knows your name? (RIP Cheers.) It's a bummer to say the least. Peck's, I know I may have alienated you for good with this one, but honestly this is ridiculous. I'm a regular and after a year you don't remember my order? After a year you don't even smile at me? I've got enough issues in therapy as it is. I'll probably keep going because I'm lazy AF, but if you're in the hood go to Brooklyn Roasters 2 blocks down on Washington. Less sundries, but more ambiance and kindness, and equally good coffee for the price...On second thought, I could always use more exercise.
