I bought fresh produce and few tamales, since I cook tamales all the time I like to try in different locations . I bought 1 of each and they were all delicious and the masa was moist. I've driven by this place hundreds of times on road trips flying down I-80, but had never slowed down to check them out. I think because it so close to the Bay Area, that I either want to get to my destination, or just get home for the way back. Not this time around, I slowed my roll and got gas in the same stop. Glad I did. Pretty good sized produce stand, maybe the size of a 7-11. Most country stands are much smaller. But for some reason, this place is really popular. I even went at 2pm on a Friday, and it was still booming. I just wouldn't want to be in those tight confines on a weekend afternoon, pandemic or not. Like to pass someone in an aisle, you're literally inches from them, often having to graze bodies. But do they pack in the goods here. Mostly fruits and vegetables that don't have to be refrigerated. Their cold vegetable area actually is quite small. But the stuff in open air is all fresh, meant to be consumed now and fast. Which is how people ought to treat produce. It isn't meant to be in storage for weeks on end. My philosophy for food in general is... buy something fresh and seasonal/perishable, and buy just enough to use for a few days. And don't let it sit, consume it while it is still in it's prime. And just repeat the cycle over and over again. This way the food will taste in it's optimal state, and your body will benefit from freshness, thus maximizing the nutrients. It is easy but you do have to stay on top of it. I went during the summer months and the place was just brimming with fruits. Peaches, plums, cherries and berries of all types. They have an organic section, and some labels will state a specific local growing area. They even have one of the biggest dried fruit section I've ever seen. Loved all of it. I filled up a basket in no time. They also sell pies by the registers that appears come from a local bakery from neighboring Vacaville. I tried a Peach Pie ($14ish) and it was alright. I like the fruit filling as it tasted like fresh summertime peaches versus something from a can. I just didn't particularly like the crust or the crumb topping. It was more mushy than it was buttery or flaky. But with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it was still a decent treat. They also have a warming case for tamales. I wanted to try one so bad, but I had just eaten lunch and was stuffed. But since I am now quite willing to make a stop here, I am just sure that I'll get to try them tamales in no time. #trust read more

Love this place and will make it a regular stop on my travels to the Bay. They seemed to have everything you'd need to make a pretty amazing meal. Lots of local produce. Wish there was more organics but there were organic grape tomatoes and carrots. The prices were pretty amazing and the selection was great. Lots of goodies like homemade chocolates and candies and a variety of nuts and snacks as well. I was excited to see a variety of local hot sauces as well. I had a job teaching improv to kids in special education at one point and I loved it. At one point, we were teaching at a Special education school in El Dorado County. I looked forward to it because they had the best school lunches, made from scratch. But on the way back home, we'd stop by Pedrick's for fresh produce, nuts, and other goodies. But that was a long time ago and now??? Wow, it seems as if everything was processed somewhere else and brought in for sale. The entrance has changed. Most of what I saw was dried fruit, candy, nuts, seeds and I could get all of that in the bay. I didn't see the produce, maybe they were out, it was the end of the day. The funny thing is that the few times I've driven through the area, I've thought about their produce and wanted to go. I remember them from all those years ago. But now that I had a chance to, I think that I don't have to go any more. From what I've seen, there's nothing special, unless I'm coming back from Sacramento and I'm desperate for some dried fruit, nuts, or seeds. Wowza, this local produce store is sure stocked with a good variety of foods ranging from usual fruits and veggies to jerkies, salami, nuts, salsa, hummus, ice cream, yogurt and even free range chicken eggs, which are so hard to find in typical stores like Safeway or Savemart around Davis-Dixon area. They also sell spices and honey as well. I came here just for cherries, but left with 3 bags of goodies. It's like shopping at a mini Costco :) Not a single shelf was empty. They have so many salami options. It's good that they have samplers for you to sample before you buy. Their fruits and vegetables are very fresh + good price. Also, they sell Fenton's Creamery ice cream here. Highly recommend!!! I'll sure be back. read more

I've passed this stand for years and finally stopped by a couple weekends ago. Really busy, which is a good sign, but parking and lines moved quickly with their many cashiers. Great selection with some really great snacks and the corn was super-sweet! Will be my regular stop from now on. read more

I love this farm stand! Pumpkin seeds are great along with their other seeds, candies and produce. It was like a toy store for me. I felt so happy seeing favorites from when I was younger. Service is great and they will make smaller portions of seeds if you ask them. read more

Going through aisles is crazy, but everyone is in constant motion so it's not standstill. But some antsy customers can be rude because of the claustrophobia. Shelves are always getting filled. There so much variety in produce, snacks and drinks. It's a fun market to go to on way to Sacramento and on way back to the Bay Area. Prices are moderate but the quality is 100. Hidden gem for produce. I just tried out their owari satsumas and they are so good! Affordable prices and very fresh, so I have always liked this place even though it's a bit out of the way for me. I didn't have any covid concerns like others b/c I went on a weekday at lunch and it wasn't crowded, but I could see distancing and the usual line being a potential issue. I'm sure they'll comply with county regs though if they need to eventually limit capacity. read more

Easily my top spot to stop on the way home or on my way to Sacramento. It is really hard to miss the stretch of fruit and produce stands on 80, as there are quite a few. I have been to quite a few, but everytime now I make it a must to stop at Pedricks as it stands out above the rest. Not only is it one of the easiest on and off from 80, but they have ample parking and a gas station nearby if needed as well. The inside of the store is not the largest, but they stock every possible space with goods. Their goods range from crackers, cheese, sauces, oils, fruit, vegetables, wine, beer, and various other goods. A sample selection is usually offered near the cash register as well, so that is always a plus. Obviously most come for the local fruit and veggies that are priced at a fair level, but be careful as some are higher than market price. If I had to give a few tips, make sure to check for in season apples, as they are consistently a great price as well as ripeness and some of the legumes are well priced and very tasty. They also offer some fresh homemade tamales at the register for $1.50, a great little snack for the road. Easily could recommend this wonderful produce stand for anyone traveling on 80. read more

Holy cow! I've lived in the area for almost 20 years, and I've never been to this place. I was brewing some beer and needed an unusual honey at the last minute and someone recommended this place. They didn't have the honey I needed, buckwheat, but they did have a substitute, wild oak. While I was there, I picked up a four pack of hazy IPA and some produce. The place was packed and for good reason, so much fresh fruit, and vegetables and little specialty products. I'll definitely be back. read more

My husband has wonderful memories of visiting this place with his grandparents/ parents and today he brought myself and our son here. The building doesn't look like much from the outside but inside was packed with produce and people. It was hard to keep socially distant in there but we made it work. We bought strawberries, Rainer cherries, snow peas, sunflowers and tamales. My son and I shared a tamale on the way home, it was quite good. It pains me to do a negative update for one of my beloved businesses, but with my recent experience, and from the recent reviews I saw here (which backs up the fact that I wasn't only one who experienced this), I feel like I need to do this. I've stopped by in the morning of May 16 and afternoon of May 19, 2020. I didn't feel safe either time, especially 5/19. No social distancing enforced, no masks enforced, crowded, even the staff was lowering the masks to talk (defeating the purpose and missing the whole point), and staff were hugging each other! I fully agree with the previous reviewer; I understand that a strict set of rules we see in Bay Area may be very difficult to adhere to at a small business like this. However, I have seen it done. It all depends on how seriously you take the current situation. On one of the recent visits, a staff even picked up apricots that spilled onto the floor and put them in my bag. I threw them away right outside the store. This is unacceptable even without the virus threat! It is really sad, but I will not make my regular stop here until the virus is gone or unless I can stop by early-early on a weekday. read more

I go here practically every week, sometimes 2x a week during summer when fruits are in season. The quality and taste of their local grown produce is amazing, and the prices are affordable. It's like going to the farmer's market, but without draining you of mega-dollars. It gets super busy during the weekend, so if you have the flexibility, I'd choose the weekday to go. But still service is quick, it's just hard to navigate the cart in the aisles when it's busy. Highly recommend ! read more

I moved back to CA during Covid and this was my go-to place for produce. EVERYTHING is good here. The produce is either sourced from their own farm or other local farms. In the spring, I thoroughly enjoyed the Rainer cherries and the red cherries from the central valley. The cherries were fresher, tastier, and cost much less than Safeway or Walmart. When it got warmer, I moved on to the fresh local corn, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, and pineapples. Eggs, bell peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, and onions were the staples I bought every week. The only item I didn't buy was bagged salads. They also have a neat dried sundry area. My aunt loved the candied ginger and mangoes because they weren't too sweet, like they weren't over-sugared during the drying process. My son loved the gummy sharks and candies. Lastly, their fridge had a good selection of meats, including boudin from Louisiana. The hot tamales are not to be missed. They come in cheese, pork, and maybe chicken. We bought a half dozen and fried them up with an egg for a quick breakfast. The prices were also hard to beat. I only spent $20-30 per trip and had enough fruit and veggies to last us a week.
