*****Customer Experience During the COVID-19 Pandemic***** Pedrick Produce was the third stop of our Dixon excursion on 05/16/2020. Located just east of the Pedrick Road exit of I-80, this small market offers a large selection of reasonably priced, locally grown organic produce. We pulled into the parking lot at around 3:45 pm and it was packed. I almost just kept driving but mi madre wanted to check it out so I reluctantly obliged. A young man, who was in charge of sanitizing all the shopping carts, greeted us at the entrance. Once inside, I started sweating because it was packed and social distancing was impossible. Fortunately, everyone was trying their best to respect each other's space. I did observe a couple people without facial covering, which concerned me a bit. The produce selection was vast and well organized. Aside from fruits and vegetables, they also featured locally grown nuts, honeys, fresh fruit pies, tamales etc. Prices were fairly reasonable for organic produce. We ended up getting multiple items (watermelon, red potatoes, white corns, bok choy, cherries etc) for less than $25. The cashier was cheerful and friendly. Overall, the customer experience was great but the overcrowding and patrons without facial covering made it somewhat stressful (-1 star). I hope management will see this and address these safety issues. Apologies for not having any pictures. Circumstances that day made it impossible to take them. read more

Great Place for various nut choices. I bought glazed sesame almonds. Delicious!!! Fresh! Not the storebought type where it's a pound of sugar and a nut hard enough to break a tooth. Produce this time around was pretty slim. I did get somd bell peppers. All in all great spot to stop and check out! read more

While driving up to Dixon to watch the sunflowers, we dropped by to check out Pedrick Produce. What grabbed our attention was they have a ready n hot tamales sign lol. The location is right next to a gas station so you can fill up too. Before entering, the staff at the front ask if we wanted a cart which was already sanitized. The cart is small similar to the Michaels store. They had so much different variety of nuts, candies, vegetables, chocolates, snacks, etc. The prices depend on how many pounds you want. We got our tamales at the cashier. They had pork, beef, and cheese. We got pork and cheese. I highly recommend the cheese tamale. The staff was very friendly. The lady at the cashier complimented my wife's mask. A nice place to stop by when traveling to Lake Tahoe or Reno. read more

Wow, what a place. The fresh organic fruits and veggies all look so delicious. Not to mention the nuts, dried fruits, and candy. It is easy to spend a lot of $$ here. ;) I picked up some of my favorite fruits and vegetables, but was most excited about the unique fruits I rarely see. So far, my favorite buy was the Orange Flesh Melon ( a hybrid melon between cantaloupe and honeydew). As soon as the very large avocados ripen, I can't wait to try those. Everything was so fresh and I will definitely be keeping this on my list for any time I am in this part of Northern California. The yelp check-in bag is very useful if you spend the minimum required. Checked this out this past Sunday on our way back home from Tahoe! They gas a bunch of signs on the freeway advertising their store. Cherries were fine, other vegetables ok, fruit not ripe, corn ok. Tamales were tasteless!! I will not return. read more

A nice vegetable market. Kinda took the place of "Nut Tree", if you remember the way it use to be. Nuts, dried fruit, candy, fresh vegetables and fruit. This was my first time stopping by, I lived in the Sacramento area and have driven by here several time. Clean, and friendly staff. The fresh vegetables and fruit is the take away. Support your community by purchasing locally grown produce from Pedricks. It's good for your health, the environment and even your wallet! Pedricks has been a staple in my family ever since my Aggie days when I lived in Davis. Whether we were going north or south on the 80, a stop of Pedricks was always made. Don't let the name fool you, there's more than produce offered. There's plenty of a lot of candy, nuts and their tamales of course! If you're overwhelmed by all the options here are a few things I usually pick up Navel oranges: the sweetest oranges I've ever tasted Cherries and strawberries(when in season): they're both so sweet and affordable compared to grocery store prices, I usually get a box of each Yogurt covered pretzels: generous in the yogurt! Tamales: green chili and cheese is my favorite All the roasted unsalted nuts(cashews, pecans, almonds) which are difficult to find in a regular grocery store. Whatever you're looking for, they're sure to have it. Even if you don't have anything in mind, you can go browse the shop and get a little snack like a honey stick, some tamales or prepackaged ice cream from Fentons. If you're on the 80, this is a definite must stop! read more

what a fun little pitstop - so many nuts and dried fruits. fresh produce and candies! Though the market was small but it was a good stop to stretch our legs and to walk around the store. we were able to find a few good stuff: dried peaches, dried pears, dark chocolate caramel chew (with salt), the kids got to get a small bag of strawberry belts. some of the produces were quite cheap too! we were able to get a bag of Barlett Pears ($0.79 / lb) The strawberries and other berries look really yummy and ripe but it was a little too expensive -- so we skipped it. we also go a few salamis. Found the garlic lamb salami - if you like lamb i recommend it. But for me, it's way too gamey for my tastebuds. read more

I love Pedrick produce! It's always a must stop for me when I'm traveling between Sacramento and the Bay Area. First and foremost, it's a must stop. It reminds me of a place that I used to stop with my family when traveling between Southern California and Arizona. The place was a fresh fruit stand that turned into a mini store. It was filled with a variety of dried fruits, fresh produce, and so much more. Pedrick produce is that place! They are definitely farm to fork, and they are situated right off of the freeway in Dixon, California. This family owned produce store features a variety of sweet treats, like gummy worms, gummy peaches, an amazing variety of chocolate items, to locally sourced fresh produce. I love that the staff is incredibly knowledgeable, and they will go out of their way to answer questions that you may have. Because I frequently shop there, I've gotten to know the staff fairly well. Recently when I was in, I had asked about a holiday candy item, and they graciously opened the bag so that I could sample the chocolate. They have a fun selection of spicy sauces that range in flavors, but what makes them so fun is the variety of labels that you will see on the various jars. It definitely is worth the time to go through them and either select a unique hot sauce, or just to read the labels. The dried goods section ranges from a variety of nuts that range in flavor from your basic roasted to unique flavors, such as orange almonds. I love that they offer so many varieties of dried beans, and dried fruits. It truly is a foodie heaven, in a small town store. A couple of the unique items that they carry are locally made fresh flour tortillas, as well as locally made tortilla chips. Both of which are always delicious, and it's not uncommon to find samples of the locally made chips and a variety of sausages and sauces to try. They really go out of their way to make you feel at home during your shopping experience. Make this your must stop and try place! read more

This store, and the Chevron gas station next to it, at an otherwise empty freeway exit west of Davis (not actually in Dixon, which is a bit down the road) makes this an ideal pit stop on an SF-Sacramento run. It had been a while since I'd been here, so I'd forgotten what a variety of produce it has, and if I hadn't just placed my weekly online grocery order, I could have stocked up here, even though it's far from home. I missed the wall of hot sauce, which is a shame because I've been looking for something that's hard to find. It was kind of crowded and my time was short, so I just picked up some nuts (plenty of bags of pistachios, cashews, almonds) and candy (mango chili gummy bears - tasty!), and at the register you can also pick up - fresh tamales! They come in pork, chicken, or chili-cheese, and they're made by Chepo's Tamales in Elmira, which is another nearby town, and they're pretty good. Not up to the Tamale Factory in San Jose, they're fairly small and what I call class B tamales, with the husk loosely around the tamale instead of embedded in the masa. But the masa is thick and tasty and the tamales are loaded with filling, so I count this a winner. read more

Back when I was a kid, we would drive up to Reno from Concord. Then when I was older, I moved to SD and completely skipped the drive by well... not going. I do remember though, every year, my parents would stop at a couple of places to make the drive more tolerable to us kids. 1) Nut Tree - I remember the trains and goods we would buy. It was quite exciting as a kid. 2) Pedrick's. This place... oh how I hated it as a kid. "Why are we stopping here?!?!?" I would wonder as I sat in the car while my mom would go in to buy stuff. Then I would happily nom on the dried pears that she would buy because she knew we loved them. I finally came back here, as an adult after years and years, bringing MY kids. Did they hate it? no! Why? Because well... we bribed them with Chocolate. Pedrick's is a GREAT stop for the trip to Lake Tahoe from San Jose. They've got a gas station attached (albeit not the cheapest but hey, what's $0.10 per gallon if the base is $5 per gallon?). The collection of foods and produce here is amazing. It's like Farmer's Market quality with Grocery Store prices! Also the dried goods and the candies in bulk... omg so much yum! I'll definitely be making this a must stop at for every time we got o Tahoe. Hoepfully it'll be a regular trip for us. read more

I have also been buying Tamales from Pedricks for years and the other day I stopped by while traveling to Sacramento and I bought a dozen tamales, which I have eaten and loved for so many years, to my regretful surprise, they are not the same tamales at all. These new ones are tasteless and cannot compare to the previous ones they use to sell. I'm positive they have some other company or business making these new ones. Very unfortunate because not only will I no longer purchase tamales, neither will quite a few other people who would go out of their way just to buy the great tamales they use to sell. I always rate this place good. Because it's one of my favorite place to shop for fruit and vegetables. But, last Saturday I wasn't too happy. Bought an avocados and boy, it was really bad. Didn't feel like driving back it's a bit far from me. Waste of gas. I know we can't really tell which one is good or bad unless we cut and open them. Secret hotspot alert!!!! Almost don't want to post this place but it was so good it deserves a lot more attention than it's getting. We stopped in on our way back to SF from Tahoe and grabbed groceries for the week! Bulk fresh nuts, fruit, and other produce for a fraction of the price and more importantly it supports the actual farmers who grow the food, not the other middlemen. Stopped here for the first time and I must say this is the best produce spot for fruits and veggies. I came all the all way from downtown sacramento and the fruits are fresh and sweet compared to the nugget store and farmers market I go to and much MUCH cheaper. The lack of basic care and compassion is unacceptable. Based on what I personally witnessed, these animals deserve far better than what they're receiving here.

She was sweet to my toddler and clearly had experience as a mother/aunt/grandmother to someone because she charmed my daughter who is usually very shy. I walked away with a gorgeous tinned fish print of one of my favorite local artists, and a tote full of tinned fish from brands I enjoy and others I had not tried before. The selection is vast and really offers so much for both experienced and new converts to tinned fish. Mabel's is THE place to come to for your picnicking needs. Grab a blanket and make your way here to grab stuff. Small sized spreads make it easy, and all you need is some bread or crackers, fresh fruit and salami, chocolate and tinned fish of course! Pedrick Produce has become one of our regular stops whenever we drive toward Sacramento. This time, we specifically stopped for fresh local cherries since they were in season, and once again, the quality was excellent, better than what we usually find in San Francisco, and at a much more reasonable price. We also picked up a watermelon, some peaches, and a few vegetables while browsing through the market. As always, we couldn't resist grabbing a couple of their tamales while checking out, which we've come to really enjoy. I also had to exercise some self-control and skip their mixed nuts this time, mostly because I still had half a bag left in the car from our previous trip a few days earlier! The place has a relaxed roadside market feel, it's always fun to stop in and see what fresh local items they have available, and the young staff on the floor are always quick to help when needed. read more

Warning! : If you go to Pedrick Produce just one time, YOU WILL GET HOOKED. Try just one of their carrots next to any carrot from a supermarket chain. Do you like hot sauce? They have many dozens of different kinds. How about Tamales? They have the real deal; individually bagged in plastic, handmade fresh every day [ don't show up before 9:00 AM ;) ], and you get ( 2 ) free if you buy a dozen [ up to the time of this writing ]. Fruits, berries, nuts, fresh and preserved produce galore. It is always the highlight of my road trips with my wife to go shopping there. Did I mention right next to I-80? Plenty of beverages, beef jerky of many different flavors spilling into the aisle, rompin' good trail mix, and peanut brittle. Note : My wife and I went there today, a 140-mile round trip, to get fresh tamales and produce as requested by a family member. Love this place! read more

Another great stop at Pedricks!!! I've been coming for years, always stopping on my commute back home to the Bay Area. Great to see very friendly staff outside (in the heat) cleaning all the carts after each use. It's a small store and they are doing their best to make this a safe shopping experience. Staff was wearing mask. I see some are complaining about not enforcing mask, well the county is only "recommending" mask at this time so businesses have a hard time enforcing this safe practice when the county doesn't order it. Let's continue to support small businesses like Pedricks, advocate for safety measures at the county level and take personal responsibility for your own hygiene if you are concerned.....face mask, wash heads & don't touch your face. read more

Fresh and delicious produce, friendly and enthusiastic staff, good prices, a rich selection of specialty products, the best darn place to grab Mexican food for miles (seriously the salsa and tamales here are so underrated, it's criminal). Oh, and it's the best place to buy ice cream. Strawberry is available now and it's wonderful, but the real good stuff comes in October; I'm talking about the pumpkin ice cream, it's the greatest, and words can not describe it. Simply the best prices I have ever seen in Norcal for any grocery. In addition it's truly a real farm to fork operation that buys directly from local growers. Where else can you find that? No where!
