I had high expectations for this place cause of all the 5 star reviews but it really was just ok. I don't know if it's because I got the American style pizza or what but I didn't really think it was that great taste wise. Generally I love crusts and it's my favorite part of the pizza but I find their crust too hard for some reason. The search for NY-style pizza in Austin continues with this slice from Pedroso's Pizza, a pizza trailer in North Burnet. As a purported New York slice, the crust is the most important part of it. Pedroso's mostly met the expectations of NY style crust--browning at the bottom, foldable texture, chewy dough--except it was still a bit dry/airy/crackly, most prounounced in the cornicone/bones. Not as bad as Home Slice, but just a bit short of the NY ideal of a chewy dough inside the crust. Flavors were excellent. The Meat slice benefited from the chunky uncased sausage and capocollo ("gabagool" for you Sopranos fans). The Veggie pizza was perhaps even more impressive since its fresh vegetables somehow didn't render the pizza a watery mess. The rest of the menu is also impressive, though unfortunately very ricotta-heavy. (I do not care for ricotta, but I appreciate the great toppings Pedroso's offers) They also serve Grandma pies too, which are worth tryping. Pedroso's is a good 25 minute drive from my house. Does that ever deter me from checking them out? No! It's absolutely worth the drive and time. It's quickly become my favorite pizza on the area both because of the many toppings and crusts available but also because of how much food you get for the prize. Saw this on Yelp's best places to eat in Texas list and was going to be nearby, so I had to give it a try. They have three different styles of pizza - we got a New York pizza with pepperoni, basil, and ricotta. Service was friendly and parking in the strip mall was easy. It took 30-45 mins for the pizza to be ready on a Saturday evening, but you can hang out at the Night Owl bar next to the trailer and grab a drink in the meantime. They also have some picnic tables outside. The pizza was really good but not particularly memorable - lots of good pizza in this town. This is a next-level pizza. I am not a pizza fanatic, but I make my own sometimes and have made a lot of other breads and doughs like bagels. I say this because my favorite part of pizza is the crust and I know when it's good and when it's really good. This was fantastic. To me, their grandma pie crust tasted like a dough made with flour, water, salt and time. The high quality ingredients are what shine through here. I have only had the Grandma pie. I've had it twice and both times I feel that it far exceeded my expectations for pizza. The crust is cooked perfectly all the way through. The cheese is creamy and has a taste, it's not just a grease delivery system. The sauce is tomato forward but had enough herbs in it to really make it feel like a pizza sauce and not just tomatoes. The sauce also goes great with the meatballs. I think it's a mixture of pork and beef because it didn't taste like either one but it really had great flavor. The service there was also great. I ordered online and they actually texted me when my order was ready. A service that not every restaurant does. The people there seemed genuinely interested in the pizza which was helpful. And I commented that it was neat to see Triple X Root Beer there given that it's from Indiana. The cashier was so nice and gave it to me for free. I didn't even ask for it. Pedroso is extremely deserving of a 5-star rating! Their pizza does not disappoint. I ordered 3 different types of pizza from them: the American Style Cheese Pizza, The GOAT, and NY Style Spinach White Pizza. My favorite of the 3 was the GOAT! The Peruvian peppers added a nice flavor of sweet and slight spice with each bite. The goat cheese on it also was not overpowering and added a very nice touch to the overall taste. I'd highly recommend including that in your order. It's not huge so you'll probably want to include another order of pie depending on how many people you want to serve. What surprised me the most was that all of this is being done from a trailer. Not sure how they make this magic happen, but they served some of the best pizza I've had over the last few years. Found this gem while standing in line for a tattoo, FOR 5 HOURS. All the reviews said this is the "Go-To" pizza spot in town. And while they MAY not be wrong. IN MY OPINION the pizza was a little to greasy for my liking, the pepperoni seemed to be those miniature pepperoni s you get in a deli aisle and while I thought the Grandma Style's, square pizza, dough was going to be fluffier, not as hard, as it was, it unfortunately was not and came off ... Date I say, stale, which was odd due to the fact that the pizza was made in front of me. Now allow me to remind you this was at 730P and this is based off of the Grandma slice. The pizza at Pedrosos is amazing and I recommend trying this hidden gem out. They have great toppings selections including ricotta and great prices on slices and whole pies. I sampled the NYS slices and the absolutely mouthwatering Grandma pie... the crusts on both were true to expectations and both were incredible ... fresh homemade dough and perfect sauce, cheese and toppings. I am particularly fond of the grandma pie perfect crunch on the exterior and soft slightly chewy, warm center. This has rapidly become my favorite pizza in all of Austin. Absolutely perfect. Delicious pizza and friendly service! It was a bit hard to find as it is behind an outdoor extension of the bar next door. Also had to sit away from the extension as I don't smoke. Ordered the pizza on-site, took enough time to grab a beer next door (nor the bar comes in handy and they let me take the pint glass outside to the pizza side, and the piping hot Sicilian pizza was more than one person could finish - never fear, they box up when they hand it to you. My favorite pizza in Austin so far. I haven't been to many pizza places though but try their classic pepperoni pizza, can't go wrong with it and always hits. Service can be a bit rough but the only times I have been here has been when it's pouring or when it's 100 degrees out so definitely can't blame them. I just moved to Austin from nyc where I spent 30 years of my life eating some of the most beautiful pizza in the world only to move here and discover this town doesn't have a single decent slice between all of its many high concept pizza places. Bad Neapolitan Chicago style deep dish grandma style chewy overly sweet not sweet enough garbage. Then I tried Pedroso's and on my first bite I swear a single tear came rolling down my cheek and I could hear the voice of baby Jesus whispering "oh hell yeah mofhcka". I got the classic NY with pepperoni and mushroom and a white pie and a Stromboli with sausage. It was my 34th birthday and I wanted to feel something, judge me I don't care... and I did feel something! The first decent bite of pizza I've had in months. If I could I'd roll up to Pedroso's right now and kiss the owner right on the mouth. 4 stars only cus I had to eat it in Austin. read more

We had a bad experience, it happens. We waited 20 minutes in crummy, wet, overcast weather for 3 plain slices. That is a pretty long time to wait for slices to be heated up in an oven. While I understand that they have limited ovens because they are a small food truck and were clearly busy, they clearly prioritized the making of several other pies before heating up our slices, despite the fact that we were waiting there patiently in-person in crummy weather and it does not take as long to heat up slices as it does to make fresh pies. I am guessing these pies were all for customers who were phoning it in for pickup, but we had actually showed up in-person (we were pretty excited, too, given One Bite Pizza's recent favorable review of the place. That excitement died at the 17-minute mark, followed by 3 minutes of muted furor). We also asked 10 minutes in for an update and were told that they were "almost ready" (Spoiler alert: They weren't, and we could see everything going on through the windows of the truck. They weren't put into the oven until about the 18-19 minute mark, and were out in a jiffy (like ~1-2 minutes)...Quick, but totally deprioritized even after we asked for an update). But the most egregious offense of all? The couple who arrived just as we were leaving were informed that a pie would take 90 minutes. How courteous of Pedroso's to share that information with those other customers! Given that our 3 slices were exactly 3/8 of a whole pie, I would have expected them to give me an estimate of 33.75 minutes (3/8 of 90 minutes). Then, I'd say a normally ridiculous 20 minute wait would have been completely avoided and we'd have taken our business elsewhere. Don't sell slices if you aren't going to serve them quickly, else at least give a warning about the wait time the same way you would with a pie. Thanks and I hope this can be avoided for future customers, especially given the new fame this place will have after receiving a 7.7 from One Bite. ...Oh and we finally ate the pizza. It was honestly OK...6.4. If I came back to this area, I'd just go to DeSano's just down the street which has way better pizza made extremely quickly! read more
