I have read a few reviews of how the manager's were rude but I never experienced it till this week. I went to return some face masks at ACE hardware Benicia as they are blatantly price gouging its customers (literally almost double the price) 50 count box. They put there own seal on the box which I didn't open and it was also the same day I purchased the item. When I went to return them the cashier said they don't do returns on that item, but she would ask the manager as I had just bought them and it was obvious I didn't open them. The manager walks past me and says in a rude tone that there's signs everywhere. I went to the shelf that the masks are in and there's a sign that's on the bottom left of the shelving. I basically would have to go out of my way to read the sign that was not obvious for the product. Furthermore there tons of signs all over for various reasons on the plexiglass shields they have at the counter, like anyone wants to read all that. Of course no mention of final sale when I bought the non returnable products (which Ace should be responsible for). I will never shop here again not only because of the rude manager, non-responsive owner whom I left a message for a return call, but for the almost double the price of the masks. It's price gouging at it's finest. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and contacting the Corporate offices. Taking advantage of small town customers is not right. read more

I have been coming here for years and I love them! Very helpful and a great selection. Yes, a little more expensive than Home Depot but in the long run, I save money here because I don't have to drive out of town.There has also NEVER been a business here in town that does more local fund raisers and collections for disaster relief. The most under stocked and overpriced "hardware" store I have ever had the displeasure of shopping in. The staff is GREAT (probably because they are having fun stealing your money). $35 for a $12 dollar watering can, $3 for a $0.99 bolt, $1 for a $0.35 nut etc etc etc and I couldn't even use my five dollar off "reward" coupon because I was a day early even though i got sent the coupon a week ago. I won't be going back, it is worth the 7 mile drive to a REAL hardware store. Ace should be ashamed about the old ladies it takes advantage of. read more

Pedrotti's didn't have the part either - however they were able to quickly find the part in a a catalog and order it for me - try getting that done at Home Depot where it's every employees "first day in this department dude". read more

This is a good hardware store for the basics. Yeah, you're not gonna get tons of lumber here or trees or anything but they always have the little stuff that I need to keep my house in working order. Customer service is great here and they have a good selection of work clothes. I can even buy a small piece of drywall and a repair kit for holes! No lugging around huge sheets for me. read more

I need somethings for the holidays as in extension cords, matting, decor lighting and this place had it all. The staff is very friendly to you I noticed it as I walked in the store someone already greeted me and asked if I needed help. When we moved to Benicia and started going to Ace to pick up stuff for our house, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff gave us a nice impression of the town, which we have since come to really like. I will pay a little extra to get the kind of help lacking at the bigger stores, and also save myself the time and gas driving to Home Depot in Vallejo (where you get NO help). This hardware store provides excellent customer service, knowledgeable, and helpful friendly staff. I needed to replace a broken garbage disposal and they not only helped me find the right one for me, not the most expensive one they had to sell :), but the right one for my budget, they explained what I need to do to remove and reinstall the one I was buying. The folks here are nice, knowledgeable and helpful. I know they have the hardware monopoly in benicia and have some costly overhead being in the Raley's shopping center which makes their prices much higher than the big home stores, but try getting some help at the Vallejo Home Depot or Lowe's and you will appreciate the difference Pedrotti Ace makes. No veteran/military discount like the big stores, but much more convenient for Benicia residents. They've rarely not had something I've looked for, nice. read more

She took the time to explain what my best options were for what I was working on and even offered me some other suggestions. This was one of the first places I went after moving to Benicia and quickly became a fan. Obviously the selection and prices aren't as good as the big chains, but the service is much, much better. Three stars are for Ace's always helpful, courteous, knowledgeable staff, and generous contributions to the community. Minus 2 stars for price gouging! After 12 years of shopping here from time to time, I've spent my fair share of $$. For their size, Ace stocks an amazing array of supplies. Their pricing reflects the convenience aspect of DYI and as such is frequently outrageous, sometimes 2-3 times or more that of Lowe's or Home Depot. I've had this same conversation with electricians, plumbers, landscapers, etc. the past 12 years: do you drive 5 minutes to Ace and overpay for an item or do you drive 15 minutes to a big box store and get a fair price? The latest example: I recently bought door hinges elsewhere for $2.85 each. Ace's price for the same product was $5.85 each. If I had needed but one, sure. But I needed 8 and will need 24 more. $68.40 versus $140.40 is a no-brainer. I will continue patronizing Ace for smaller or urgent purchases, but it's worth the time and gas to drive elsewhere. The response below doesn't address the fact that so many items on the shelves at Ace are significantly more expensive than the same item elsewhere. Alas, convenience has its price. read more

I went into Pedrotti's Ace today with a small but difficult job to handle that I had been trying to fix for hours and was looking for advice on how to deal with the issue. I first came into contact with Ciara and she immediately jumped in to help me and tried numerous times and ways to handle the problem. She then called over Dave and he then jumped right in and started working on it himself. Ciara then took me over to the hardware department to get the screws/bolts and she even showed me how to use the specific kind she wanted me to use. Dave was able to extract the old ones (took awhile) and they both were soooo kind and helpful!! This is why I love love love our local hometown store ACE, this would have never ever happened at the big box store. A BIG shout out to Ciara and Dave for helping me out and so accommodating on something I could not physically do myself! I really appreciate it and will tell everyone I know!! read more

Normally I like Pedrotti Ace Hardware. Last week though I was in and picked up an item that was marked on the shelf at $4.99. When I got to the cash register it rung up at $9.99. They refused to honor the price listed on the shelf and this was the manager. I'll have to avoid this store for at least the near future. Too bad. I like Ace hardware stores. read more

Incredibly expensive! I don't know why I continue to waste my time by walking into this place because I never buy anything, I wind up walking out pissed off, shaking my head! I can understand some acceptable markup for convenience by being in town but the prices are so close to almost double that of Home Depot or Lowe's that it's completely ridiculous! I try to shop Benicia first but I've found it easier to go to Lowe's in Vallejo rather than waste time at ACE. This store has two speeds....either every employee in the place asks if you need help or they totally ignore you. Their prices are high and selection is lacking. Today I went there because I needed patch material for my roof (it was raining and I had limited time). After being ignored by three separate employees the employee I finally cornered told me that wasn't his department and continued stocking a shelf. I understand that he didn't have the knowledge to help but he could have least called someone who could.... I'll just save myself the frustration and go directly to Lowe's from now on. read more

I have some rental property in Benicia and have to get little things fixed from time to time. Pedrotti's is a great hardware store with a knowledgeable and helpful staff. Much better that the two "big box" hardware stores in Vallejo. Only issues: if you need some help ask one of the older (anyone over 30!) staff, they do have a lot of young guys (high school kids?) working there that have very limited knowledge beyond what aisle something can be found! read more

Great service, knowledgable staff, decent hours. They have a good selection, and often have the exact part I'm looking for that Home Depot or Lowe's don't. The prices are a little higher, but considering I save about a gallon of gas and the time, it works out about the same and with the better service I save time. I've been going here for 12 years, and give them my business preferentially over the big box stores. Sure, for bulk purchases maybe this isn't the place, but for the majority of my shopping staying in town and shopping at Pedrotti works out great. read more

One star for the initial customer service....I called Ace Hardware to inquire about their carpet cleaning machine rental. I was told by a young woman the pricing and the rental information. She also offered to hold the item. At this point, I was well pleased with the customer service. I told the young woman that I should arrive to the store in the next hour. I arrived within 30 minutes and went to the cashier area and gave her the story. She went on to mumble about how the last one was just rented. I explained to her that I spoke to (gave the person name again) At this point, she didn't want to deal with me. This is when it gets worse. I am guessing the older woman, was the supervisor. She absolutely did not want to deal with me. I explained to her the dilemma. She went on to say in a hostile voice, "WE DONT HOLD THESE ITEMS FOR THIS VERY REASON, AND I AM NOT SURE WHO YOU SPOKE TO" I proceeded to mention her name and she totally disregarded. She goes on to say, "well why don't you go to Raleys and purchase from them?" Wow!!! She was basically trying to push me out of the store. More was said afterwards. But I will just leave it there. I will not be returning to this company and plan to contact the rug company and Ace Hardware about this incident read more

After looking around - Jose - a floor sales person asked if he could help . He not only helped but created exactly what I was looking for from a metal strip, beveled the edges and offered the appropriate screws to attach it . I like to support local businesses but these prices are outrageous. I used to come here often because it is convenient and I don't mind paying more to support small or locally owned businesses. Not sure why the prices are so much higher than independently owned Martinez and even Walnut Creek Ace. They're cashing in on the fact that they're are the only act in town. read more

I love this local business! What makes this place so special is the customer service. The folks here are outstanding; whatever I need they are there to help me. I come in here all the time for tools, nuts, washers, gardening supplies, and you-name-it. I was in the other week buying mulch for the garden and not only did one of their employees get the mulch bags down and rung up for me but he helped me load it in my truck -- and this isn't the first time they have helped me out. They may not have as much merchandise as Lowes and Home Depot, but they have most of the basics and then some and while they are not as cheap as a big box shop, they have good sales and customer rewards and they are truly kind, courteous, and helpful. Ace really is the place for a quick stop to fix an immediate need. Their customer service is great and always ready to help out. Their prices aren't the best but join their club and that will help ease the pain. Too bad much of their stuff comes from China in a time when we need to buy American. My first visit to this store was a very positive one. Every time I needed help in finding something an employee assisted me promptly and found what I was looking for. I had a difficult problem to solve with a sprayer for my kitchen sink which required the interface of several adapters. everybody here is friendly and helpful. might cost $1 more for your product vs home depot, but that dollar is saved in terms of time wasted wandering around a huge warehouse store looking for what you need. help here is quick and easy to find. in fact they usually ask you what you are looking for as soon as you walk in, so you don't need to search around aimlessly. read more
