I normally love this Peet's coffee. They have always made great drinks until the last few weeks. I normally have to come to Peet's at least 2x's a week to get my girlfriend coffee. She gets a basic iced vanilla latte. We always loved coming to this Peet's because they have a great ratio of coffee to milk. You could tell that there was coffee in the drink. The last few weeks it's as if they are putting the same amount of coffee for a small and just adding a ton of milk. If I wanted extra milk I would ask for it. If I am ordering a large drink then I expect more coffee not milk. read more

Taqueria + Coffee = Amazing! You don't have to take my word for it. I'm not sure I'd even believe myself at first, until it happened. This Peet's front door is literally right next to the front door of Tequila Taqueria. After ordering our food there, we walked right next door for a refreshing drank! Their sign reeled us in! Coconut Black Tie! Come to find out they have a whole new line of summer inspired Coconut drinks. They all looked delish, but I decided to go with my original desire. I ordered and paid, then realized I didn't know what was actually in the drink. This wouldn't fare well with my lactose intolerance, so I asked the barista if they made my drink and if he could tell me what was in it. Coconut Black Tie - Half & Half, Iced Coffee, and Condensed Milk (in that order) Oh no, I asked him quickly to use Soy instead of Half & Half and he did. He wasn't even making the drinks, but since mine wasn't done yet, he just did it himself. I offered to pay the difference, but he said it wasn't a big deal. He was super sweet about my mistake, but never made me feel like a jerk. I did happen to use their facilities and their bano is nice and clean, that's always a plus. Their spot is pretty low-key modeled location, with lost of window for sunshine. They had plenty of regular seating for the coffee shop type who love to come and stay for a long time. There isn't anything fancy of extra ordinary about this location, but their service is what left me smiling! A nice barista can be a game changer! read more

Stellar. Fab. Wonderful. What MORE can I say about the fine folks of Peets n Livermore. On a bad day they ALL know how to pick you up. Even offering new drinks. Enjoyed a cup of Java last week and the A team was there. Vanessa, the great! Anne, the joy! Meesha the delight! And Tanya the sweet one. The line was out the door and they were calm and delightful. Tonya was at the helm of the ship directing the ebb and flow of the line. Tonya offered a Holiday drink and I agreed. Yesterday I ordered a cup of coffee through the app. For some reason it did not show up in the store . I showed the the cashier I was charged for my coffee the charge stated it happened 5 mins ago. The manager made me feel that I was an lie an I was trying to get free coffee. Ordered thru mobile app. On 6/26 @ 3:30 pm. I decided to go inside and wait for my drink. So I just sat on the stool close to the coffee bar so I'll be able to see my drink when they put on the table for pick up. But instead the barista girl just called my name so I picked it up the bar instead at the (table) pick up area. I grabbed my drink said thank you but she didn't say anything. Went to my car and drove to lowes but when I got there. I looked at my (iced brown sugar oat latte) drink there was a long strand of hair inside the cup. I was freaking out I was thinking could it be my hair but how would it get inside the cup. And it's definitely not my hair cause I don't have highlights... I drove back to Peet's and I patiently got in line and I showed it to the cashier. All she said was sorry and that she will refund me for the drink. I love Peet's lattes...They didn't come in first place during my "coffee journey," but I can always trust them to be consistent. I don't know what it is about their lattes, but they give me that "warm feeling" every time. Some baristas make better lattes than others, but overall they do a terrific job with taste and quality. Sometimes I'll get a latte that is just so-so, but I think that can happen just about anywhere. Although, there are 2 places in Livermore I've never experienced "average" with (Espresso Rosetta & Panama Bay). I will definitely keep going to Peet's because every now and then someone will make me a latte that completely blows me away. read more

Staff is not only friendly, kind, generous, caring, funny, talented, informative and upbeat but they also make you feel right at home. Environment is the bees knees. I love Peet's and usually go to the Dublin one because it is close to work. The past few weeks I've found myself in Livermore for work and figure, why not this Peet's? I just want to say... 1) If there's a line to the door on a busy morning, don't fret, this staff keeps things moving! 2) If you're getting a bar drink, you're in for a treat if Paula is making your drink! I tend to get black coffee but if I know there's a good barista behind the counter I'll opt for a mocha or a pumpkin spice latte. Paula will leave cute leaves, hearts and even Jack-o-laterns (on pumpkin drinks) for you and they taste delicious to boot! Thank goodness Pete's is from the East Bay...it really appeases my conscience, knowing it's not 'technically' an evil corporate chain...it's a local corporate chain! This location is a gem. The staff is friendly and always greet me by name, as I am now a regular. My only gripe is that they don't have a full array of bakery products everyday. Some days they will get this, and some days they will get that. Not that I always get a pastry, but if I have a craving....I want what I want when I want it! PMS is a powerful thing. Sorry.... I do love Peet's. Yesterday, my friend announced that we were stopping for coffee Sugar-free vanilla soy latte. That's what I order every time. However, yesterday, I said to myself.... 'SELF!', I said, 'you will not go sugar-free today, just a vanilla soy latte' The guy at the counter repeated my order back to me, the barista announced my drink . One hour later..... IT WAS NOT SOY. I am lactose intolerant. It's not an issue with you, it's my problem. But when people serve me dishes and I ask if there's dairy in it, I am not asking because I'm vegan. I'm asking so I don't have a miserable stomach ache, gas pain and diarrhea. I am not vegan... I would eat your leg if butter was poured on it.... whoa, I guess that would be a cannibal. OK... I would eat bacon wrapped fried chicken. My mother in law... she will sometimes avoid answering my dairy questions and I'll trust her for about 30 minutes... and then I'm in the bathroom for hours, regretting that I don't carry lactaid pills in my bra. So I called Peet's today, asked for the manager. In my unlikely calm and unusual professional tone, I attempted to convey my issue. Understandably, he wanted me to come by the store and I would get 'taken care of'. I can translate 'taken care of' into many definitions. a. the Peet's mob will beat me up in the alley b. he'd strap me to a dental chair, place a funnel in my mouth, pour soy milk down my throat while saying, 'this time, we didn't forget the soy'. Remember that cartoon about the gravy? c. give me a free vanilla soy latte. I think 'b' would be funny but I am guessing 'c'. Very kind of him, but I had to repeat myself that I wasn't calling to complain to get something for free. Simply letting him know my story.... he had a hard time with that. He was kind, but couldn't just end our conversation. I am most positive that Peet's deserves more than my 2 stars and am sure there are so many 4 or 5 stars reviews that my rating will just cancel out. I have been drinking Peet's coffee for decades. This review is not about the coffee product that Peet's sells, but about the poor customer service, "we're out of coffee beans" (2x in the last two weeks). If a particular person (an espresso machine operator) is there behind the machine, my wife and i just turn around and walk out. This person is not trained to make anything with an espresso machine...its always horrible. This particular store always seem to be understaffed. I think Peets is much better than the commercialized and overrated Starbucks. The coffee here is much stronger and tasty. Definitely not watered down like Starbucks. Great selection of desserts and pastries that taste and feel fresh. Parking at the Livermore location can be a bitch as its in the middle of Downtown. Beware where you park. I live in the downtown area. I prefer to use the Panama Red for my caffeine stimulus. However, my wife likes the sterility of Peet's. Yes, their coffee is fine, but I just can't stand the corporateness (is this a word??) of coffee houses. I don't want to buy a music CD or some other non related coffee item. Don't even get me started on Starbucks. Which is why I brought up this review: My wife was making a cake for a friends birthday. Recipe called for a shot of Raspberry syrup. Peet's is literally a block away from my house. I walked over to see about buying some from them and the clerk said they didn't have raspberry flavor. "Was the Starbucks out?" she asked. I told her that you couldn't pay me to go into a Starbucks! With that I left and headed to Panama. Of course they had it! and at no charge to me!! I asked the barista lady if the green tea mojito was sweet or if I could get it less sweet (maybe no sweetener???) and she was like of course! So I think the drinks are good, my issues come more from a place of "why does Peet's have the aura of the passport office?" I've only ever gotten the green tea latte here (I can't find anything similar to it elsewhere). It's delicious! My observation is that it doesn't have the friendliest atmosphere. The bathrooms require a 5 character key in code to use. Take it easy Peet's, it's a bathroom, not a government office. I don't know what you're hiding in there that needs coded protection, but you're doing a great job making me awkwardly have to announce to a barista that I have to pee so I can get the secret password. Also, what's up with the super tense message that pops up when I use the wifi? It's something along the lines of "our wifi is only for customers ACTIVELY ENJOYING our products. By using our wifi, you agree that you are actively enjoying Peet's products". I get what you were going for, but it conjures up a mental image that if I stop sipping my beverage or I don't particularly enjoy it, an employee is going to slap my laptop shut. read more

HOOOORAY for little balls of tea in my cup!!! Their tea selection is stupendous! Their mocha is weak compared to Starbucks or any where else I have ever had a mocha for that matter. One day as I was ordering a mocha, I mentioned to the young lady behind the counter that it's never as sweet and chocolaty as I expect. That's when the friendly Batista informed me that, "this is the correct way of preparing a mocha. Everyone else is just over doing it." and then she offered me an extra squirt of mocha sauce which I gladly excepted, smiled and left happy. I like Peet's a lot. I guess you could call me a Peetnik? I love Peet's; Mr. Peet "invented" the premium coffee market in 1966 with his first shop in Berkeley and when Starbucks opened in 1971, [according to Wikipedia anyway] they originally bought all their beans from him. Personally, I'm an iced coffee man - even in the rain, in January. This is a good location here in Livermore. It is air conditioned, which in Livermore in July is a very very good thing. But why am I writing this? To pass on some science that until recently I, a coffee aficionado, didn't know. Commercial drip brewers don't get hot enough for a full extraction so your brew ends up weaker than it should be. Pick up a plastic cone brewer at Peet's for about $3 that sits on top of your mug. Then pour boiling water into the beans (with a filter in there too) and you will enjoy a far superior cup-o-joe than you've ever had. The only thing that beats this is the French Press [soon to be renamed the Freedom Press] but those require timing the steep and my weekday mornings don't have any extra time to time. With enough coffee I could rule the world... Auf. read more

I have lived in Livermore going on two years now. This coffee shop is my go to place for great coffee, responsive customer service and free wifi. The wifi is limited to a one hour session per access code. This can be a pain if like me you use coffee shops as remote offices and spend hours working there. It is easily ignored since the internet access has been speedy and reliable. Iced Sugar-Free Vanilla Latte...can't go wrong with this drink. Some time after I wrote my first review, Alfred Peet died. I was in this location when the manager or regional manager was having a meeting with the staff out among the customers. She was dictating the new marching orders. It sounded just like Starbucks. I watched as the faces of the employees began to droop (the more experienced ones simply masked their anguish with professional disinterest); I listened as the manager person droned on and on with new corporate protocols and was both unkind and impolite to her employees. I have been back one time since. I was brilliantly disguised as a member of the homeless community owing to a local film shoot. I give two stars because the employees were very kind to me and made direct eye contact in spite of my overall physical filth. I will return and continue to gauge their progress. It *may* be that, after a largely corporate shift to a more Starbucksy presentation, they experienced a customer dropoff and decided, Netflix style, to backpedal with alacrity. Caffeine usually doesn't affect me, or if it does, it's gradual. But the first time I had a medium-sized mocha from Peet's, I had the shakes, man. I don't know, maybe that means it did its job, but I sure wasn't used to that. Tried the chai tea next time I went back. Didn't get the shakes, but didn't think it was that tasty either. I think Peet's drinks are just too strong for me. I'm a sugary sweet kinda girl. But if you like your coffee strong, go here. The atmosphere is pretty decent and the location is very good. EDIT: I just bumped this place up to three stars. On a recent visit I did the smart thing and ordered a drink with half-decaf/half-regular coffee and did not get the jitters. And I was smart enough to add sweetener, too. An overall better experience. I still yearned to be at Tequila's Taqueria next door, though. That place is so friggin' awesome. read more

Today I was trying to think of a negative business to Yelp review. I felt I had given too many 4 and 5 star reviews and figured I would try and validate them by writing a more critical review. Then I came across Peet's Coffee and realized another 5-star review was in my future... I love Peet's coffee. And by coffee, I mean coffee. Too many coffee joints can't brew a decent cup of joe anymore. Starbucks is repulsive and inconsistent from store to store, but not Peet's. They make a reliable, strong, and flavorful cup of coffee every time. When Peet's was founded in 1966, I doubt people were ordering iced, triple, half caf, soy, vanilla mochas. Peet's was founded on great coffee and that principle remains today. My wife, daughter, and I visit the Livermore Peet's virtually every Saturday and Sunday morning. It has been our routine for several years and will likely continue to be our routine for a long long time. Since we are only weekend regulars, we aren't remembered from visit to visit, but I actually prefer it that way. The cashiers and baristas are friendly and courteous and even when there is a line to the door, the service is reasonably fast. If for some reason they do make a mistake, they fix it quickly and without attitude. Side story - one time me and the family were sitting outside enjoying our Peet's. We mentioned to each other that the service that day wasn't up to our usually high expectations. An off duty employee overheard our conversation, walked over, apologized for our less than perfect experience and handed us coupons for 2 free drinks. Unexpected, unnecessary, but appreciated. They have quinoa salad here! Peet's used to be one of my favorite coffee places but now I'm afraid to try their drinks, since everything I've had so far seems to make me sick -- especially the coffee. I have some food allergies and sensitivities so this is probably due to a change in their ingredients, which makes me sad, because the service here is really good. Peet's has a great selection of fruit juices, though. I like that they have limonata and aranciata. It makes me feel healthier than if I buy a Dr. Pepper from Panama Red down the street. They seem to be making an effort to be health conscious and that definitely stands them apart from Starbucks' and Red's carb-laden menu options. I do miss the classical music, though. Peet's was pretty well known for only playing classical music but lately it seems like they've made a switch to soft rock. read more

Since Peet's has changed ownership things have changed. Most of the coffee is pretty ordinary - tried the reserve blend and one time was sensational but the next purchase left me wondering if they got the beans mixed up. Teas are limited now with new ownership and no longer carry Peet's name. Seems like an old story - have enjoyed Peet's excellent quality for decades and then they get bought with by a corporation more concerned about the "bottom line" = another ruined business producing ordinary product. As always, Peets Coffee & Tea makes a strong, delicious cup of coffee. If that was the only criteria for this rating, they would have 5 stars! So what exactly keeps my rating at 3 stars? Every time I come in to this Peets, I plan to spend 15 minutes in line or waiting for my drink. Whether the baristas are chatting with another patron or amongst themselves, it seems that there is no sense of urgency to get the coffee made and up on the bar for waiting patrons. I go back because the quality of the coffee is great, but if I'm in a rush on any given morning, I know to go elsewhere. read more

I've been going to this Peets for about 6months now and I am just now feeling "welcomed." Why did I continue to go? Well it's on my way to work, and they make excellent drinks. The staff I wouldn't say isn't necessarily rude, they just aren't welcoming. There's no verbal or non-verbal cues of a greeting, it's just a weird vibe. It wasn't until I complimented the Baristas on how well they make my drink, that they finally say "hello" to me and remember my name and drink. Great location and eh ok staff it's just an odd bunch that I'm ok with continuing giving my business to. I would suggest though that their staff AT LEAST speaking to all customers not just the ones that compliment them... read more

Really HUGE Peet's coffee with nice staff and great mango infusion tea. I was eyeballing the ginger molasses cookies here, but was too full from lunch. The tea was nice and not too sweet. Definitely refreshing during these hot East Bay Summer days. Would recommend. read more
