Here's the thing: Peets coffee is OK. Better than Starbucks and McDonalds and many but not all diners; not as interesting as the craft coffee shops and roasters that you can find. So, provide service, please. I don't really understand why there is no place to just get a cup of water at Peets, but there is not. Fine. So this morning, when I ask if they can please fill my water bottle--and there are only two customers in line--I get a 'we are kind of busy now' response? Really? It's a peeve of mine about Peets--in general, the employees can get wrapped up in their own little deal, so there may be one person cleaning a counter and another fiddling with beans and another stirring this and that while there is a line of customers. I'm not saying exactly that they don't care because most times they are pretty efficient about pouring out their Joe but that does not always seem to be he priority. read more

The corner spot on this older strip mall collects a lot of Sunday loungers. It's warm considering it is supposed to be fall. So we grab some iced drinks to go. Blended matcha, black tea. The service is the best thing about this Peet's. The baristas are quite friendly and happy to help, even when you get the wrong drink and want a new one made. Beverages themselves, however, are a bit lacking. I ordered a iced dirty chai and it was ok. My girl got a hot one but received an iced one. Ooops. No problem, like I said, the baristas were apologetic and made her another right away. The hot one she received had no real flavor though. Just tasted watery. Sigh. The establishment itself wasn't the cleanest coffee shop I've seen. The garbage and "coffee condiments" weren't located in the cramped corner where you pick up your drink but nearly across the entire store. I went to Peets Coffee (Blossom Hill location) yesterday to treat myself to my favorite drink. I had a photo of how I wanted it to be made with extra chocolate layers that another barista use to make at that location. The person making my drink wouldn't even look at my photo and the finished product was not to my satisfaction! Their new Manager, Patty got my attention walking out, seeing I was unhappy. She asked to re-make my drink. I thought that was really nice she wanted me to be a happy customer as I was leaving. Thought I was in a Starbucks for a sec.This place is crazy packed for a Thursday at 9:30am. Obviously everyone must be here and not at the Starbucks across the street. I am a spoiled Los Gatos Coffee Roasting person. Quality beans with good bites to eat and nice location. This Peets location is just too loud, too crowded, line is too long, too slow moving. Even all the outdoor tables were taken. The fact that there was extra noise due to some sign updating didn't help either. However Ben who took my order was so nice and helpful. And the coffee master still kicked out a lovely blend. If you like Peets I prefer the Peets location at El Paseo instead because it's calmer and not as hectic and you can actually hear yourself think. But this will do if you are close by. read more

This place is five star for a lot of outdoor seating. It is sometimes crowded by the crowd is nice. Baked goods are great. The muffins always seem fresh out of the oven. I come here 2-3 Saturday mornings a month with my friends after our morning run. Big running crowd at this time. Loud and buzzing place, but the hardworking staff makes the long line, that often goes out the door, go through quickly. Place is pretty clean and organized for crowded coffee place and there's plenty of parking in the large retail strip mall where this Peet's is located. As for the coffee and pastries....well, it's Peet's, Coffee's always good, the scones have varied in quality a bit over the years, but they're usually pretty good. We are Peet's Coffee regulars at home so sometimes you just can't escape your regular routine, even while on vacation. We stopped in while stocking up on groceries across the street at Whole Foods. It was late in the afternoon but this pretty decent sized Peet's coffee was pretty full of patrons. Despite it being pretty busy, no one was in line so we were helped quickly and our drinks were up at the bar pretty quickly. Yes, another review for Peet's. So this is based purely on service and not the product quality. I had a bad experience when I came to this location. I walk in, there is NOBODY in line. I already knew what I wanted and stood at the register. And stood. There were THREE employees behind the counter just gabbing away. They didn't look busy doing anything, but to give them the benefit of the doubt, a simple "I'll be right with you" would have sufficed. Nope. They didn't even look at me. I didn't have that blank-staring-at-the-menu-open-mouth-gape look on my face either. I was ready to go, cash in hand, and they were about a foot away from me, completely ignoring me. I ordered an iced chai latte, a drink that I have been ordering for nearly 15 years, and the evening crew (7pm) on Sunday August 5, 2012 did not know how to make it. I couldn't believe it! First they made it with a shot of espresso which resulted in the worse drink I have ever tasted. We went back and forth on how to make it. I told them to make it without the shot of espresso and they acknowledged. They gave me an iced chai tea (brewed tea bags with ice). Unbelievable!!! The whole process took 20 minutes. I wanted my money back, but couldn't wait any longer. I took the drink and added sugar and milk, but it was still bad. Peet's, you have lost my business along with the rest of my family!! This is not the Peet's that is closest to my house, but I actually go out of my way to come here. I know they're going to make my latte right. It's one of the older Peet's (first in the South Bay, I think), and the way the store is laid out is a bit awkward; the people in line to order actually have a great view of the asses of people standing around waiting to get their drinks. Luckily the wait is usually pretty short. There are two condiment bars filled to the brim with things people destroy their drinks with. Today I watched a man order a double espresso then proceed to pour three packets of Equal in it. What's the point !?! You can't taste anything but the Equal ! Auuugggh. The best coffee in the US. And this location saved me when my child was a infant. It was the only place I could walk or drive to at 6 am that would be open and serve me some mojo to keep me going. Sat/Sun are crazy because ALL parents of Los Gatos are here with their youngun's and dogs. But it is worth the wait. I'm a big Peet's fan. I'm a Peetnick. This location is usually pretty good except for it being SOOO busy! I sometimes end up just driving past because the line is out the door. When it's not busy I am very happy with the service. When it's busy I bypass the line by buying a pound of coffee at which point they will order the drink for you. It is a great location though with a lot of locals coming in to sit and talk outside. Very good place to people watch. read more

Oh my gosh. The bathroom here is disgusting. It's a train wreck of urine and toilet paper explosions. They are very friendly, and their drinks are decent, but I think they overheat the milk/soymilk too much. Those things should never be so hot they burn your mouth, as the proteins degrade to the point of being unpalatable. Extremely hot water is also not good for espresso grounds.. I think they are just too understaffed in the morning. The girl was a little frazzled and charged me for a whole pound of coffee instead of half a pound. I didnt want to deal with the refund process so I let her give me a whole pound. Very expensive blend though, and I only wanted a half pound for that reason. read more

I seem to have the worst luck when I go to coffee shops. Every single place I go into has a line all the way to the door. That didn't change here, but fortunately the line moved quickly. Like... downright speedily. The location's pretty open, with lots of small tables perfect for 2 or maybe 3 people just chatting with each other. By that I mean "don't bother bringing your laptop". The small tables and the 1 hour limit on WiFi (and only with purchase) politely insists that you don't linger. Which is fine with me. The effect is that there's quick turnover, so even if you want to stay and the seats are all taken, it'll only take a few minutes for a spot to open up. I've always been of the opinion that Peet's coffee is a little too strong, but clearly that's a matter of (my own unique) preference. read more

I am a Peet's fan, plain and simple. I have been drinking their coffee since age 15 and have always revered them as the best in the bay. The selection and quality of their coffee beans and particularly the way that they brew drip coffee simply can not be beat. Never a bad cup in over 25 years of patronage! This location is nice with outdoor seating and nice shady trees too. I only give it 4 stars, because the best location is by far the original shop in North Berkeley, at Walnut Square. If you ever have a chance, stop in for a cup at that one...you won't regret it:) read more
