This branch of Peet's has always served me well, albeit being a busy cafe, and sometimes difficult to find a spot to chill. They are very friendly and welcoming...great staff always helps with impressions. Tried the mayan mocha for free, and their pastries are above average. The strip mall in which the cafe is located is supremely excellent... I like to shop at TJ's as well, and since 5 Guys and Yogurtland moved in.... fuggitaboutit. Usally very busy especially on weekend when line is to the door. Could never understand why its always so cold inside seating area. Today's cappuccino was made correctly with good strength unlike other days when its usually weak. To be honest, the coffee strength was gotten weaker to the point where my cappuccino/latte is much stronger when made at home using Peets pods of course (not Keurig pods). This coffee chain is cool and this particular location is sweet! OK, I admit, I don't care for Peet's coffee. Before you ask, "Well WTF are you doing there then?!" I'm a road warrior for work and appreciate places I can plop down and get me some internet access. This Peet's location is clean and the people are nice. I usually buy a pastry (but I just bought the caffe mocha and it's not bad) and ask for my internet access password. Then I sit either inside or outside and get some work done. I love Peet's and I'm soooo glad there's one in the area to get my liquid crack fix. I got so sick of seeing only Starbucks around...as if they really need 2 in Hercules, pffft! Since it's in a shopping plaza it can be hard to find parking at times, especially in the afternoons/early evenings. I usually go in the morning on my way to work and the service has always been quick and friendly. This morning was the first time I walked in and there was a line to the front door. I thought about just leaving but I'm glad I didn't because the line went by really fast and I was still in and out in less than 10 minutes. Came in today and left very happy with my purchase My fiance and I dined in and tried the pumpkin latte and the Mayan mocha. Very happy shall I say. The store was clean and staff was very personal and friendly. My fiance asked if he could get a pretty design done with his drink and the barista assured him he would try his best....which he did lol (I loved the honesty). I wish they had Peet's in Florida!!!! I have had such a wonderful experience every time I have been. I wanted a Chai Latte but I'm not a big fan of chai concentrate. They brewed a chai tea for me and then steamed milk to add to it. Plus they only charged me for a tea. I am such a big fan of good customer service. I feel like they took great care of me and went the extra mile. It didn't seem to matter that the store was full and the line was long. They took is all in stride and smiled while they were at it. I come here often... it's usually at 6 am before work. At that time I order my coffee before I leave my house and it's ready when I get there. Today I did the same thing, and ordered my coffee at 10:15. I purposely wait until the latest of my pick up time to come in. As I stood there I waited, and waited, and watched all kinds of customers walk in, order coffee and leave. So 10 minutes AFTER my pickup time I asked where my coffee was. The response I got was "we have different people working on mobile and to go." So where's the benefit in me pre ordering if I have to wait longer than the people who just walked in? I guess I'll stick to my early morning time, because that made no sense. read more

Closing time for this location is always 8:30pm. However, Johnny the cashier wanted to close down early. I came in at 8:10pm. He tried to give me some excuse about talking to his manager about changing the closing time. I just wanted a pound of whole bean. Which required no cleaning up. I'm sorry Johnny, but your excuse was unexcusable. I've worked in the restaurant and coffee industry before, and closing early is common. Check out the Van Gogh exhibit @ the De Young museum to get a coupon card for 2 for 1 coffee! I am a Starbucks fan, but I like this Peet's due to the above coupon, and because of the friendly staff. The only reason I subtracted a star is because of issues they had with the coupon at first, but those issues are all fixed now. The coffee is good, the location is perfect, sometimes the line is too long (in the morning) and parking can be a hassle. Overall thought, I love this Peet's and I will continue to do homework here (and get 2 for 1 coffee!) read more

I really enjoy the food and coffee from Pete's, but after multiple visits I can't handle the employees consistently bad attitude. I really feel like they don't want to take your order. We are putting them out by walking in. Never a smile always a smirk. Today we had to argue with them about the lack of milk on the condiment stand. Three times they told us they had milk out there. Finally they looked up only to notice.... no milk. Then we had to take the milk to the bar ourselves. Don't expect anything more than bottom of the barrel service at this location. I've only had issues at this Pinole Pete's. Every other one in the Bay Area has been great. read more

I used to be stuck on coffee...I'd have it every day when I woke up and probably again in the afternoon. And then a coach wisely told me that as a diuretic, coffee was doing more harm than good. For years, I avoided it like the plague. My all-nighters in college were fueled purely on the last minute desperation of "Oh crap, I have a 10 page paper due at 9 AM, it's 2 AM right now, and I've only got a page and a half written!" Even once I became a teacher, I ignored the lure of the coffee bean. I knew it tasted good, but to start drinking espresso again would be like a seven-year AA member relapsing in a handle of Bandolero tequila. This year, however, I finally gave in. Teaching six periods a day (no prep period = no break) meant I needed an extra boost. And that's when I finally succumbed to the temptation of Peet's down the road from school. Their pumpkin spice latte? Gross. Their mocha? Gnarly. But their vanilla latte...oh, yes...it is the stuff of which dreams are made. And it is what gets me through the first half of my day. Potently strong, with the perfect blend of vanilla sweetness and espresso bitterness, the vanilla latte is the drink that keeps me from passing out when yammering on about the Yalta Conference to a bunch of half-asleep 16 year olds. At some point I hope to kick the caffeine habit once and for all. But speaking as someone who has watched the first three seasons of Lost over the last two weeks (about 60 episodes in about 16 days...you do the math), there are some obsessions that you may not be able to (nor would you want to) quit. read more

Great new location...happy to see a Peet's in Pinole. Perfect place to meet up...had a cinnamon roll and a caramel iced coffee (don't know what it's called) here Sat morning that someone got for me that was surprisingly good, but terrible for the diet. Only negatives are bad parking and the bottle necking at the main entrance/exit. Here's a tip...drive to the other end of the lot and use the completely empty entrance/exit. No one ever thinks to use that one. I am probably the one car out of 100 that ever does that instead of sitting stuck in that mess. read more

Very very disappointing. I just walked out of there around 9:30 this morning trying to order a espresso javiva and the employee had to make it twice. Both times it tasted horrible. I left work to try and get myself a drink and ended up spending way to much time in here to walk out with nothing but my money. I did not receive a free drink on us card and I did not get my javiva. Complete and total waste of my time. I won't waste my time or money at this establishment again. Finally a Peet's coffee in Pinole!! No offense to the other coffee joints nearby but I want something that's going to wake me the heck up and tastes good at the same time! Okay, yes the parking does suck most of the time but it's not as bad as the El Cerrito parking lot. You can always park in the back. The music is great, service is wonderful, and most important my drink always tastes the way it's suppose to (strong, smooth, tasty and doesn't taste like flavored milk or water). It's honestly not rocket science to follow simple instructions! What's so difficult about making a large iced mocha, entire cup filled with ice and adding whip cream? Why the consistent screw up of passing me off an iced white mocha when I've specified numerous times, an allergy to white chocolate? Pay attention! Did you know that Peet's, at the beginning of 2015, started selling a light roast? The Colombia Luminosa. While they don't brew it for the masses, they will make it for you in a French press for a very reasonable cost. The barista here, suggested doing this for me; because they don't get this request as often, they actually miscalculated the water and grinds. So basically it took longer than expected. I'd be fuming over this, but their customer service and hospitality was impeccable. Because of their slowness, they decided to not charge me for my other order, and gave me a complimentary drink on the house. On top of that, they made my Luninosa a large size, and kept me updated the whole way through. I don't expect perfection from businesses and restaurants and cafes; mistakes are bound to happen. What's more important to me are how the staff rebound from their hiccups. They did that here, with much courtesy and grace. This is a great spot! Lots of outdoor seating, and spots to chat or work inside. I appreciate places like this! read more

Matcha Green Tea Latte has been my latest obsession and it's $1 off with check-in. Needless to say, I'm a fan. Study space is kind of limited. Mostly single tables with very few large ones for groups. There is one handicap table that seats 3 - but I feel bad taking that space. Not the greatest study spot if you're with a group, or if you want to spread out. If you're alone and just want to read or sit and enjoy your coffee, it's great! This particular Peet's Coffee feels like a gathering spot for the community - so many of the other customers seemed to know each other! I thought that was really nice. The line is consistently long. I've seen it go out the door once! They're efficient and polite though! I'll be back for sure! read more

I have been coming here for quite a while. I'm serious! I'm that chick that's always there sipping on tea until they close. For the past 2 years... Ahhh studying... from a bachelors, to nursing prerequisites, nursing school, NCLEX studying, and now I am preparing for my first interview. I have been content studying there- sometimes I do have to bring my smartwool due to the constant deep freeze. As a study palace, I would say 3/5 stars. It busy, but they make good use of the space that they have. The baristas are awesome! These are some super friendly folks! All around, they have had some phenomenal employees! Although...there is a new barista that has a SUPER annoying voice- loud enough to pierce through my heavy duty headphones. The new manager is also a bit of a fail... I have been looking for a smile from this guy for the past month... I don't know why I try, but I think that having friendly people around adds to the positive vibes of a place, no? Still... No smile. Woooooo..... Just got chills just thinking of him. The previous manager was an absolute gem of a person. She CONVERSED with customers! I feel like there are two kinds of coffee shops: ones that make hot drinks, and ones that make cold drinks. My hot drink is super snobby, and Starbucks is the only place that ever makes it correctly. It's not anyone's fault; it's just my preference. My super snobby drink of choice is a nonfat raspberry latte, and Peet's Coffee & Tea's version just falls short. It doesn't have enough raspberry flavor, & I'm not a fan of the drizzle sauce stuff on top that seems to be their "thing." And the latte always comes out way too hot! Their cold blended drinks, on the other hand, are fabulous. I've had a few, and I loved them. I'm happy to sit in their comfy booths and sip on a freddo - especially the vanilla. So Peet's, in my mind, is a cold coffee drink shop. And that's fine with me. read more

I love that there's a Peets in Pinole, and I REALLY love the fact that it's much closer to my house than a Starbucks. I would chose Peets over Starbucks anyday. Their new matcha green tea latte's are to DIE for! Their coffee is always delicious, and the staff is always friendly. It does get really crowded, especially in the mornings, but that doesn't stop me from getting my coffee. I do like to study at Peets at times, but during peak hours, it's much too noisy to get any real studying done. The best time to go is a few hours before closing. It is much quieter then. read more
