I'm a big coffee fan and on the weekends, I tend to swerve towards Peets rather than Starbucks. Peets' Americano is a little more stronger than the Starbucks version. I don't really have a big reason for going to Peets than to Starbucks, other than to say that sometimes, I just want a change. They're both winners in my book as I love coffee. The Bay Meadows location is a great spot for me. I can drop on in after tennis and get a quick coffee before heading home. Whole Foods is across the street, so, it's really convenient as well to pick up something to eat. I recommend coming here if you're in the area. read more

One thing to remember, Peets is insane on the weekends. Let's say it again, PEETS IS INSANE ON THE WEEKENDS. So, if going, get there early, pre 9am if you can (I live across the street so I can) otherwise you will be waiting a long time for your coffee, a very long time. I go here quite a lot, usually for a soy latte. Once upon a time, I could count on Peet's to deliver an exceptional latte. Sadly, I think they've opened so many stores that they now suffer in quality control. There are a few great baristas, and most are OK. Many times I return my drink and have them remake it, which no one argues about. Service has always been quite good. I just wish they would make a point to fully train all baristas before unleashing them on my lattes. read more

I have been to this location on a number of occasions particularly when I go to Whole Foods. I had the worst experience on Sunday, 1/21/18. It occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. I arrived at the the same time as another customer (male) who never acknowledged me and proceeded to step in front of me. At that time there were three other customers in front of us and within a short period of time there was at least 10 customers in line. When I finally reached the front of the line (there was a woman followed by the rude man and myself) the young clerk who I guesstimate to be no older than 18 called next in line. The rude man stepped in front of the woman in front of him and proceeded to give his order. The woman made a comment to the effect that I was next and I immediately chimed in confirming she was next. The rude man became aggressive and began to threaten me and the woman and said out loud I will by everyone drinks. Since he was much larger I felt threatened as he moved closer to me. Surprisingly not one Peet's employee did or said anything but just watched. To make matters worse after getting my large cold brew latte and proceeding into Whole Foods, the cheap plastic cup broke as I placed it in the cart holder. I was so upset that I did not return to this location to replace my drink. To add insult to injury I wrote Peet's about this. Despite acknowledging receipt of my communication no has contacted me. It is obvious Peet's does not respond to complaints nor does it care about its customers safety. read more

Boy, this place has really gone down hill! Last year, the coffee was great, the staff was great, and the service was great. I miss the girls, who made brilliant coffee and made friendly small talk. Regulars will know who I'm referring to. They all moved on to management positions elsewhere. Too bad for us, the customer. Now, it seems like the staff is mostly run by inexperienced high school boys, one of whom my roommate and I call "Grumpy Cat." Grumpy Cat doesn't smile or make any kind of talk. In the last few weeks, not one cup of coffee has been made correctly. Most of the time the coffee tastes burnt, but I've also been handed a concoction of mostly milk and foam once. No coffee taste at all. I've even been handed hot chocolate instead of a latte. lol Besides the current staff being less friendly, they can't make coffee, especially in the mornings. I've returned a few times when I had spare time to exchange it for a fresh cup or get a refund/credit. The staff need to be friendlier. More importantly, they should worry less about making good time and make a decent tasting cup of coffee. Until then, I'm going to take a break from this place. I usually LOVE Peet's but this location was unkempt, trash was overflowing, tables and floor were dirty and the bathroom (men's bathroom was out of order) was dirty. Pastry and baked goods selection was small compared to other Peet's locations I've been to. I'd rather go across the way to Starbucks. read more

All my experiences at this location have been good. My most recent though was why I will continue to come here (plus it's convenient). I went for an earl gray tea latte (so yummy even unsweetened) and thought maybe I'll buy myself a Klean kanteen (finally, why not proudly advertise Peet's while drinking a soothing warm beverage?). They had one Klean Kanteen left so I was definitely purchasing. Well then I spotted the holiday blend pods on sale and since we ran out of Peet's coffee at work over the weekend, I selfishly thought I should buy them so that I won't have to ever be without "good" coffee. So I'm the only one there (at the moment), make my purchases which includes a drink for a co-worker and because purchase was over $50 I hand over my card. Register clerk swipes, not taking it. Okay- there's plenty of money in the account but the stripe is a bit worn. Hand over the credit card, swipes, still not taking it. A line of what I'm assuming are the usual starts to accumulate. By this time Oscar is calling the 800 number to the credit card reader, meanwhile the other gentlemen is recognizing the "usuals" and making their drinks before they get to the register to order. Also the other employee comes out to take over the register and non of the usuals make any negative remarks when she asks if they can pay with cash! As someone who works where client service is key this was an awesome sight to see. Oscar, who was still on the line with the 800 number said I could go, that the transaction would most likely go through later on when everything was back up. Dude- I'm walking away with $50 merchandise! I told him I'd verify later that the transaction was pending to be sure. It was pending later but believe me I would've gone back and paid. I haven't had the opportunity to get back to this location yet but I look forward to it. read more

My wife and I visit this location almost every day. This location can have pretty long lines in the morning, but tend to move things along quickly. I've been to other Peet's and for whatever reason, they can't seem to make a consistent drink, but at this Peet's they are very consistent and the drinks are very tasty. Parking can some times be annoying in the Whole Foods lot, but the proximity to Whole Foods is nice, and they have a good deal of seating inside and out, so you can relax with either a delicious hot or cold drink. The staff at this location is very friendly, and the management does a great job with this particular store. Free WiFi, but you have to ask for the code. read more

i always come to Peet's to buy my espresso beans, and they also serve the best fresh espresso. the baristas are also very courteous. what really surprises me about this particular location is the inconsistency with the service for coffee beans. this rating is specifically regarding the bean service at this specific Peet's. the reason why i keep coming back is the close proximity to the Whole Foods. might be because i usually come on a late saturday morning. there's always a sign saying that they are not servicing at the bean counter. ok, that is fine, and i accept that. but they are just inconsistent. i'll wait in the drink line only to get to the front, and they'll say, oh you could have gone straight there (i guess they are telling me to ignore the sign?). then the time after that, i went straight up to the counter and then they told me, oops did you see the sign? you'll have to wait in the drink line... but today was the worst! we stand in the drink line, and then they wave us over to get our beans at the bean counter. after she hands the beans over, she says she can't ring us up on these registers, please get back in the drink line to pay for them. WHAT???????? so why wave us over only to have us stand in a line that has now gotten even longer than when we initially got there?? however, it was clear that she was under pressure to decorate a table full of holiday themed Peet's cellophane gift packages on the table next to the door... read more

Most days during morning rush hour there is only one cashier who is almost always multi-tasking, yet there are a bunch of employees doing other things like stocking, etc. Once you order you better grab a paper or something to occupy your time cuz it will be a while. Terrible management. The espresso machine keeps breaking down. They don't tell you until you spent all the time in the line. When I ask for spoon to eat the yogurt I bought, they said they ran out of soon and ask me to use a fork. Overall bad management and bad service. Go to the Starbucks across the street even though the coffee is not as good. In general Peets employees in most locations have a 'don't care' attitude.
