The space is clean, modern, and aesthetically nice, but it is pretty small and not really the type of café I would hang out at for hours. It reminded me more of a busy boba shop where you grab your drink and go. We came around 1 PM and waited about 10 minutes. They only allow around six people to queue inside, so there was a pretty steady line of people waiting outside. This place gets BUSY. We tried the black sesame iced latte and a single origin pour over. The pour over was easily a 10/10 for me. I love light roasts that are super fruit forward, bright, and almost tea like, and this was exactly that. The barista was also incredibly friendly and even shared his recipe with me, which I really appreciated. The black sesame latte was one of the drinks we kept seeing on social media, so obviously we had to try it. Unfortunately, it was not our favorite. The black sesame tasted pretty grainy and bitter, which clashed with the sweetness of the coffee rather than complementing it. I would probably give that drink a 3/5. One thing I really liked is their whole bean selection. They had a ton of freshly roasted coffee available, including beans from Hydrangea and Black & White. Overall, Kaizen gets a 4/5 from me. I had to spit them out, but because they were chopped so finely and mixed throughout the sauce and meat, it was very difficult to eat. If this is how they prepare the dish, they should reconsider the way they cook and serve lemongrass dishes--or consider removing this dish from the menu. I also waited about 30 minutes for my food. After such a long wait, I expected the food to at least arrive hot, but it was already cold. It seemed like the food had been sitting in the kitchen for a while because there weren't enough staff to bring it out to customers. The table service and cleanliness were also disappointing. There were no staff available to clean the tables, and I actually saw customers moving previous customers' dirty plates to one side and wiping the table themselves. Our table was also extremely sticky. The restaurant really needs to review its food delivery process. Instead of having staff run around the dining area trying to find the right table number, they could simply have customers pick up their food using an order number. This would probably make the process much faster and more organized. Overall, the food was just so-so, the service was slow, and the whole restaurant felt very unorganized. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.

Peet's is a great alternative to Starbucks as many agree. There's parking in the back and the front shared with the business around. But during lunch hours, it is still difficult to find a space. I usually drop by after picking groceries from Whole Foods. Service is off and on. At times, the baristas would be very accommodating to my requests. But sometimes the cashier would not know about the pastries they were selling. I asked for an apple pastry and the cashier said they did not have it. I then pointed to it and he saw, oh yeah. The bathrooms are cleaned half the time. They can clean the tables in the back as well as the floors a bit more often since there are a lot of customer traffic through there. The coffee and teas are just as how they are like the other Peet's. Nothing different I noticed. Then again, I only order my usual, which are Mocha, Vanilla Latte and their Vanilla Green Tea Latte. I do like the green tea lattes from Starbucks as it gives a stronger matcha taste. All in all, they can improve the facility through their staff. Clean the place more often and know the menu. Peets is the only place I even consider getting coffee at anymore. I've been coming here for years, and the staff is what keeps me coming back. They're friendly, attentive, and extremely personable. My favorite barista by far is Brian. He's energetic and his technique is unmatched by any other. He must know more trivia about coffee than Albert Peet himself, as he always has something new to tell me. Brian always has a unique way of making every interaction special. Sometimes he'll even make a design in the foam on the top of my coffee - a great touch! I had to knock the score down one star because I just found out that Brian is leaving. How management can allow themselves lose someone with so much talent to a competitor is inexcusable. Please believe I will be going to Brian's new spot every time I visit SF. As for the peninsula, this remains the best cup of coffee and the best experience you can find. read more

This place rocks. I too buy my beans at Peet's, and like Jeremy D. they are free with a purchase of a $13.90 cup of coffee. Ha! I like getting shots of espresso and adding half & half, that way there is no middle man extra foam or milk between me and my coffee experience. Well, yeah the half & half, but I get to put in as much as I want. The service here is hit or miss, usually hit. Which is good. I am not much of a tea drinker, brought up on Lipton in a bag. And hot tea was only served with saltine crackers at home trying to recover from the flu or a fever. Not pleasant childhood memories. So, I like iced tea. And for some reason the tea at Chinese restaurants. Most of which has nothing to do with Peets. Get the coffee or tea if you like. And the mocha freddo when it is warm outside. read more

Zero stars. Abhorrent. This location allowed divisive politics to be on a full display. Offensive and wrong. Belongs to idiotic college campuses but not places of business. The woman making coffee was wearing keffiya, a symbol of death and destruction for jewish people and Israel. And she knows that of course. And her manager knew that too. Spoke with the manager, got full refund. Will not return to this business that allows such statements to be on display. And will let all my neighbors know. Move your personal madness and hate somewhere else. This should be a relaxing place to get coffee not "no Jews allowed", "look at me I am full of madness and hate" racist business. Shame. Came in to do some work this morning. Ordered an oatmeal and a grande drip. The girl taking my order even clarified with me if I wanted an oatmeal cookie or oatmeal with toppings. Got my coffee and never got my oatmeal. Granted, it was busy. But complete the current order before you take the next person, please. I waited until the line died down to ask about my oatmeal to which the girl looked at me puzzled as if I was trying to get a freebie. The guy working behind her got it right away-- hence, the extra star. It might be petty to gripe about the $5.05 total charge, but I paid for both items. It's the principle! read more

The wifi here is a joke. It's one thing to charge for wifi, but to put a strict 1 hour limit makes it basically useless. I can appreciate the idea that people should not sit here all day and take up tables, but when the cafe is empty and the wifi is running slow and there's no way to buy more even if I wanted, that's a fail. There's a starbucks less than a block away and it has free and unlimited wifi. It's 2010, and wifi is not a major expense - use it to attract customers, not chase them away. read more

Whenever I get coffee here, the bottom of the cup is usually covered in coffee grinds and is wet? I'll set it down somewhere at home and it leaves a brown ring so beware. The strawberry matcha was pretty good. It automatically comes with oat milk and you can change the sweetness level. The strawberry flavor is my favorite part. The matcha itself seems a little dark/muddy in color and has a bit of a chalky/grainy taste. Probably not ceremonial grade, but it's still a nice sweet treat. The jalapeño cheese bagel was also good, but very oily. This is my first time having it, so not sure if it's supposed to be like that? It left a big oil stain on the wrapper. Overall, my experiences here have been meh but I know I'll keep coming back because I truly love Philz and this location is convenient.

I think the smoothie is a little overpriced. I would ask if I can customize the sweetness next time. The coffee was nice and strong. Orders came out super quickly. Not a whole lot of baked goods left at 2pm on a Saturday.

I thought about going in and asking them to help fix their mistake but there were so many people inside I think it would have taken too long so I just went home with half a drink spilled all over my car and out $8... We tried the oreo waffle with the salted cheese topping. The bubble waffle takes a few minutes to make. There are about 30-35 bubbles on the waffle so we shared it with 2 adults and two kids (4 & 7 years old). It was enough for us and we could have eaten the waffle without any topping. We all enjoyed it - best when it's warm vs. taking it home to eat. While you wait, there are table games you can play on the few tables: large magnetic Tic Tac Toe or chess. There's also a magnetic scrabble game on the wall. There are even some youth children's books to read - more like for 4th - 8th graders. We will try a drink next time.
