Classic diner feel. Breakfast served all day long. The food was hot and my drink stayed full. My wife and I joined her family for a late lunch, I decided to go with breakfast though. I wanted to be able to justify my need for coffee. We requested to be seated in the back room at a large table. We were able to hang out and tell big long stories for quite a while. The staff were very polite and they took good care of us even when we were done with our meal. There was no rush for us to leave at any point. The desserts were great, but my daughter didn't understand why there were actual pieces of carrot in her carrot cake. I tried to explain but I'm her dad so she refused to listen to me. Nadia was our server and she was absolutely amazing! Great personality and very attentive! We all 3 ordered the baked chicken special with 2 sides and a roll. Two of us got the mashed potatoes w/gravy and the other one got a baked potato. We all 3 got carrots. Pumpkin pie was for dessert. Everything was good, but we just didn't care for the seasoning on the baked chicken. It was very tender. Ample seating throughout the facility and the place appeared to be well kept/clean. I've been a patron of Pegah's at several different locations. It's a great place featuring "all day breakfast". It's a comfortable neighborhood place. A lot of the servers have been there for Ever, and all seem friendly and helpful. Whatever you order, however you customize it the kitchen seems responsive. Like your hash brown with onions, no problem like your hashbrowns extra crispy, no problem Want a salad instead of mashed potato with your chicken dinner, no problem again. This location is in the downtown Shawnee area which makes it a nice place to eat breakfast and then check out the surrounding shops nearby. Our servers were very friendly, there were just a couple instances of forgotten requests that were quickly rectified once we said something. If this is your first time there, at the end of your meal you take your ticket up to the cashier instead of paying at the table. The food was delicious, I got my go-to which is the chicken and waffles. They hand bread their tenders, which are moist and flavorful. The waffle was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They opened a new smaller version in Martin City. I drive by every day and wanted to try them. Placed an online order, paid and a few minutes before I was going to pick it up, I received a text that my order was CANCELED because they could not "fulfill" it. It was for a burger, fries, turnover and BLT. NO explanation. REALLY BAD START AND WORST FIRST IMPRESSION. As you can see from the owner's reply, he blamed my canceled order on Door Dash. He took NO responsibility and the only offer he made was to "Try Again" This location has been home to numerous failed establishments. It looks like they are on track to keep that streak alive. Every time I drive by (several times a day), I never see more than a couple of cars in their lot. Doomed to fail with this kind of customer service. STAY AWAY !!! read more

The food was cold. I ordered 'Panko' Cod. I was served 'Breaded Cod'. Imagine, if someone had a gluten allergy this would be a potential ER visit. The difference is 'Panko' is made from rice, not wheat. The fish was not light because it was bread crumbs and not panko, it was dripping with grease. The waffle fries were greasy and cold. I've gone to this particular Pegahs for years and never had an issue with the food or the service. The service is another thing entirely. The waitress was bubbly and nice, brought out the order. After trying the fish and chips, I told her my concern regarding the cold fries and non Panko fish. Honestly, I don't think they knew the difference between Panko and bread crumbs. The servers reply was, 'but is it good?' I said the cottage cheese which I was eating was good, then I said, 'but...' and before I could speak she cuts me off, she repeats herself saying the same thing, ''but is it good?" I was upset at the gaslighting treatment with that exchange. Every server I've ever had has apologized and asked right away, 'How can I make it right'? She ignored our table until it was time for the check. I was charged the full amount. The manager came by, who said she understood, and said she would speak to the server. The server comes over and starts in with me, I explained again the problem with the food and said, I did not appreciate the gaslighting. Typical of someone who does this she negated my experience. I have never had an issue like this with a server before. I was frankly aghast at her arguing with me. She said, 'I did not gaslight you' and again, I explained the words that devalued what my experience was. The manager came by and I went over the whole thing again. I communicated that yes, the food was greasy and cold, but the treatment from the server was rude and uncalled for. The manager got the menu and said, 'Yes, it says Panko, but the receipt does not. She went on to further explain, there were too many letters in Panko to put on the receipt!! What?? I couldn't believe my ears. I clarified, and said, 'the word 'breaded' is 7 letters, Panko is 5 letters' She reiterated that there was not enough room on the receipt for Panko! lol......People, I've never heard anything more ridiculous at a restaurant. I will never return and will never suggest that place again. Nuff said. and PS... I was with my older sister who said her chili was also cold. It's a crazy world out there!!! Drove across town to try this place out. Located in a cute little area of town. Lots of small shops and breweries nearby. The staff was friendly and attentive. The clientele was primarily older folks. I'd place them in the same category and style as IHOP except they are family owned and operated. If you want to support a small business you should definitely check this place out! I ordered the mushroom burger which was about average. The meat was well cooked although they did not ask how I'd like it prepared. The sweet potato fries are delicious and I appreciate that they did not upcharge as most restaurants. I've passed this place so many times and never stopped in, what a mistake! We went today for breakfast/brunch and it was a so good and so was the service. We started with mozzarella sticks which were your standard mozzarella sticks. I ordered a spinach eggs Benedict, and the Floridian French toast, my oldest son ordered a country omelette and my 4 year old got the kids pancake plate. The French toast was perfect, it was made with sourdough bread so it was nice and thick. The kids plate would've been enough for me and the pancake was in the shape of Mickey so my son was very excited. The country omelette must've been good because my teenager ate it in under 10 minutes. Now onto the Benedict...I can only tolerate hard poached eggs, runny yolks make me queasy so I asked for hard poached. The eggs came regular poached, our server took it back right away and then it was brought back again regular poached, after the 3rd time it came back just right. I know hard poached isn't a common request so I get it!! As a cute family touch they have a balloon artist, my 4 year old got a Thomas the Tank Engine and was very excited. We'll come back! Yes if I lived in KC I'd be tempted every weekend to come here. I tried chicken fried steak which I hadn't had in about 8 years.... tasty indeed.... not too salty but nice gravy and perfectly fried. Only slight disappointment were my hash browns that were too soft but I noticed my cousins were perfectly made with a nice crispy exterior. That said I made up for my not so crisp hash browns by digging into hubbys waffle fries... perfectly fried and seasoned. Prices are great and service was good. You can get lunch at breakfast. My over easy eggs were also on point. Would love to go back for lunch items. read more

Except for the fact that almost no-one in the Shawnee location had a mask on, including patrons and employees and the manager, I always always like the food. Sometimes, I love it !! The 2 takeout experiences since COVID-19 were not as good as the real thing/dining inside, so why don't they have tables and chairs outside instead of putting their patrons at risk... especially because 90% of people there have silver or gray hair? They have the room in their parking lot to do so, and even on the sidewalk out front. We would be eating there 2 to 3 days per week, as usual, if they were just trying to earn our money with their safety precautions. Don't you think that their kitchen staff, and their cashier, and their manager could wear a mask while taking care of customers (even those of us ordering takeout) ?? read more

My favorite brewery is a couple doors down, so I thought I would gear up and have some food before heading in. I got the biscuits and gravy, it along with everything else my table had looked amazing. Food was good and filing, much more than I could eat. On the way out, I saw their display of pies. I'll be remembering that for next time because they looked immaculate. Only giving this review to hopefully alert Management. We have visited this Pegah's (Johnson Drive) many times for many years with very satisfying results each time. Not sure if there has been a Management change or personnel change, but the food quality has diminished noticeably. The turkey was warm at best and minor grissle. The chicken fried steak was not at all what is has been in the past. Was dry and tough. This is a great family place with a nice atmosphere and environment. I have been eyeing Pegah's for a long time because I love family diners, but I finally made it in and I was not that impressed. I was hung over (whoops) so you might think that detracted from my experience, but in fact it was just the opposite. A couple positives: the server was very nice and working hard by herself, and they had Red Cream Soda, my favorite. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and prepared myself to carb load and asked for the full order, but didn't even finish half. The biscuits were fine but too thick and heavy, gravy was bland, and the "sausage" in the gravy was little cubes of tasteless I-don't-want-to-know that didn't even resemble sausage. After a long night of drinking, my stomach is usually a bottomless pit and I can down greasy food with the best of them, and then ask for another. But these biscuits and gravy were just too subpar for even my insatiable state. Probably won't be back. read more
