Ewwww this place was cute before but it seems like it's gotten worse throughout the years. It's a cute ass restaurant but it's kinda dirty tbh. One of the servers/employees has her kid in her arms while behind the counter. The servers didn't seem professional and the food tasted like frozen like the fries and mozzarella sticks. Really wanted to like this place so much more than I did. Loved the 50s deco, music, and feel (I'm an old soul). Only ordered one milkshake to share as dessert with my husband. Service was a little slow. But they also seemed busy for a small place (I guess). Even after repeating and confirming our one milkshake order, it was brought to us incorrectly and instead of making us a new one or reblending the ingredients. The missing ingredient was just plopped into both of our milkshakes for us to mix on our own with our straws. Don't get me wrong, it tasted so good. I just wish it was made correctly as we ordered it and that it looked like a milkshake. It was really watery. Just got out of the airport and was really hungry for a burger. The place was lit up well and has real neon signs. The decor fit the name perfectly. I got it to go even though the booths were available and outside eating. It was ready in no time. Order was correct. Burger was cooked to order and perfectly medium rare as I ordered. The fries were so good. Just the kind I like. I wish I could have gotten ice cream because the flavors weren't average. A real juke box and the table music menus functional (i think). Peggy Sue's is under new ownership! I simply cannot understand why they aren't 5-stars. Their burgers are GRASSFED and better than any we have had on the mainland. We eat there about once a week, so we have tried almost every burger on their menu. Our favorite sides are sweet potato fries, onion rings, & bacon fries. Their before 6pm happy hour specials are unreal. Better burgers than the mainland with better prices - on Maui - unbelievable!!! Wednesday, Oct. 29 (12:45-1:00ish) Food was OK. My boyfriend and I got The Blue Moon. It had bleu cheese, bacon and all the works(lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles). We both asked for medium; I got medium he got medium well. And I don't know why but the bleu cheese was very salty(?). And I know it was the bleu cheese because I tasted the patty itself thinking it had to be the patty but it wasn't. The patty by the way seemed very bland. Anyways, then I tasted the bacon; nope then the pickles, nope then the cheese and it turned out to be where the saltiness was coming from. Weird; never tasted bleu cheese like that. The fries were fries. Nothing spectacular. I do however love that they have cherry coke and vanilla coke. Good variety on beverages and milk/malt shakes. Favorite diner on Maui. The staff is fantastic and the owners are wonderful. They're all so sweet, the food is delicious, and the service is impeccable! It is a small hole-in-the wall spot with great cruise nights if you dig those old cars. I like sitting on the stools along the counter so I can talk with the staff, but the booths are great. They even have a jukebox with those great 50's classics, when in doubt, I recommend putting Chantilly Lace on repeat ;) If I lived on Maui, I'd be there every day. Although the decor features celebrity photos along with the typical jukebox and lots of Coke memorabilia, there is a lack of consistency. The photos are from the 50's along with the 30's, 40's, 60's and just maybe the 70's. Burgers and various lunch and dinner plates are offered. They offer a dish with two cups of rice covered with cheese and chilli - sounds interesting anyway. I went reight for the back of the menu - desserts. I ordered a large sundae with hot fudge. The large sundae has only two scoops of ice cream - and the total rang up to about $5.75. Tack on a tip, and I paid $7 for a child's portion "large" sundae. So, I'm not convinced the pricing is in line with the portions. The taste was fine ... vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whip cream, crushed peanuts, and a cherry on top. Vegan Burger in Paradise! I found this place just by chance. I was having a coffee next door at "Java Café" and the barista told me about it. Turns out that the owner also owns this place. From the outside, and inside this place looks like your stock standard 50's style American dinner, and it is......BUT, they have a few decent Veggie burger options that are worth checking out. Be careful though, the "Earth Angel" burger has Mayo, so while the menu says "Vegan" it isn't, so make sure you ask for no Mayo! The Burger was awesome, and just what the Doctor ordered after my workout at the Powerhouse Gym in the same strip Mall. Oh, and be sure to pair the burger with their sweet potato fries! Stationed in what appears to be a chain mall type atmosphere. Peggy Sue's 50s style Diner is located in the Azeka parking area right next to Java Cafe. Honestly I walked into Java Cafe hoping for a nice spot to work and drink coffee but there was a screaming baby in there so I recalled the "now open for breakfast" sign on Peggy Sue's window and left Java to check it out. The staff were incredibly friendly and came outside to see if I had any questions. Naturally being drawn to the 1950s music and decor, I decided to give it a shot and sat down for breakfast. Two eggs breakfast was cooked perfectly and brought out hastly. The coffee was great and proactive filling of water was appreciated. The tunes will have you wanted to jive and swing while tasting the perfectly cooked goods. The only issue with having breakfast here is that I want to return for happy hour too! A sign on their window says HH is 3-6pm and includes 50% off apps,20%off milkshakes and 20% off burgers. Uhm, is two times in one day an issue? The staff thinks not! We decided to stop in at Peggy Sue's to grab a bite and since it was during their "Happy Hour" burgers were supposed to be 20% off. I ordered a Blue Moon burger with no onions and my husband ordered a patty melt. My burger came with onions (strike 1). My husband pointed out to the server that my burger had onions on it even though it was ordered with "no onions." The server said "sorry" and then went about his other orders. My burger just didn't taste very good so I barely ate 1/2 of it. My husband asked for a take out box and in the meantime the server came back by and asked me if I was still "working on it" and I replied, "No, it really isn't very good." The server said nothing and took the plate with the remainder of the burger (1 fully untouched 1/2 of burger and part of the other half). About 5 minutes later the server brought the check and I just gave him my card and didn't look at the bill until after he'd charged my card - it was then I noticed that I'd been charged not only for both burgers, but it also didn't appear that any "Happy Hour" discount had even been applied and I had paid in full for a burger that tasted awful. (Most restaurants would have either taken the burger off the bill or at least given a discount for it and my bill didn't even reflect the advertised "Happy Hour" discount). After we left my husband mentioned that the meat in his burger tasted off so that just added to the frustration of the whole "experience. I know I should have looked at the bill before I paid and I know I should have questioned the billing while we were there, but by the time I looked at the charge it was too late and the server never came back to ask if there was a problem even though we sat there looking at the bill for several minutes before leaving. I really don't like to complain and I NEVER write reviews to complain, but it really bothers me that I paid almost $40 for 2 burgers that were just plain not good. I am the last person to "expect" to eat and not pay, but in this case I think that a discount (at the very least the 20% off Happy Hour discount) should have been given. Very poor customer service! We live here and have been to Peggy Sue's before and, while we know it's not "fine dining" the food has at least been satisfactory in the past. This time this was definitely not the case and, in fact, McDonald's probably would have tasted better. Needless to say, we not only will NOT be returning, but we'll be telling our friends, neighbors and co-workers about this bad experience as well. read more

Went for a hike, worked up and appetite, wanted a burger. I tried yelping a few places but took a chance and drove into this strip mall and saw Peggy Sues. I saw an old school diner so that's already a yes for me. We were greeted right away and were told to pick a spot we would be comfortable. We were greeted by our waitress with a smile and with so much patience which is needed for my teenager. All the food we got was hot and delicious. The sign outside said Maui Beef and damn it was good and juicy. I ordered the be-bop-de-bop which is the closest I could remember the name. The only change I made was no cheese, the chipotle sauce was perfect with all the other flavors from the beef itself, lettuce tomatoes, onion, pickles and avocado. French fries were perfectly done with the right seasoning. Coke float was good but I was having a hard time and kept spilling it but I asked for more coke and she brought right away without question. In fact she checked on us many times to make sure we were happy and had all we needed. Both girls were awesome, attentive and we talked story for a little after. I love the 50's diner decor and all the music that was playing. The table juke boxes don't work but they have all the great songs playing so it's more for decorations. When you first walk in, you'll see the ice cream section and then there is bar seating and tables. What's not to like about this spot. Great service, delicious food and cool atmosphere. OMG, talk about your hidden gems! We found this place just driving around and decided to eat here (good parking and location). Their sh-boom burger is one of the best I've ever had at even higher prices. Their grilled salmon entree was so good, it melts in your mouth. If you're ever in Maui, give this place a try. read more

Awful food. Everything possible comes from a frozen bag. Seriously, how hard is it to prep burger patties? Taking frozen mystery meat pucks from the freezer is lazy and shows you don't care at all. It takes quite a while for food to come out because everything is cooked on one griddle and deep fryer by one guy. Also he doesn't wear gloves. Seeing him go from raw meat straight to sandwich prep is wrong. Also my wife's salad had no dressing. Ice cream tasted good, but it is not homemade, just generic brown tubs from a vendor. Service was equally terrible. The waitress never once filled our drinks up. Nor did she understand how to split a check by party. Extremely inattentive. It took ages to flag her down for some missing salad dressing and she only had two tables. The phone place is tiny so I'm not sure how she couldn't see us. The decor was passable and themed but the condition is awful. The floors were filthy and we even found a piece of hamburger on the floor.
