We get takeout from here once every week or two. If you are a member of Pei Wei rewards, they have good deals they send out by email. Why do we keep coming back? The service is OUTSTANDING. As soon as you order your food, they start cooking it from scratch, and it doesn't usually take them long to prepare the rice bowls. The cashiers are awesome, they take the orders and even remind you to put your rewards # in (which I always forget). Breanna is a delight, she will brighten your day. All the workers are friendly and helpful. The food is consistently good. The only thing, the rice bowls aren't as good when you heat them up the next day, I usually throw out leftovers if it has been 2 days...lol. I've reviewed a different location (on Union) and I had a mixed emotions about that location. I had a similar problem with this location. I first have to express that the food has great flavor (at least the chicken) but I was not crazy about the rice. I felt like the rice was 2/5 quality and flavor. It honestly felt like it was dollar tree microwaveable rice. It was below par. The wait was too long (35minutes) for it being fast food. Luckily a manager or an employee noticed and handed us a $10 gift card to Pei Wei. The portions are complete but be careful what you order. Love this place!! My family and I come here on the regular, like almost weekly. The food at Pei Wei is Asian Fusion, meaning they offer flavors that are Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese with their own twist. The food is always consistently good and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Very fresh ingredients as well! I can't speak to their sushi, but the Thai Chicken Salad Rolls are my fave!! Also love the Honey Seared Chicken, and my husband likes their Orange Peel Chicken and fried rice. Recently tried the Lo Mein, and although a little more sweet and a little less salty/soy than I'm used to, it was good too. Absolutely the worst counter service that I has ever received anywhere in my 58 years. About 8: 05 on Saturday night, 3/3/18- I placed a pick-up order on line. After ordering- I paid for it on line, and the website stated to go inside and go to the signs that says pick-up orders. I did that, across the counter I was rudely greeted by the worker with "You need something"? I said, "Do I need something"? , he answered back by saying "what do you need"? I told him I was here to pick up an order, he rudely then said, come over here. I pointed to the sign that I was supposed to go to, and again he rudely said, "I am over here". So I walked to the far cash register, I stated to him that he wasn't very nice was he, and he arrogantly said that He can be!! I this time I was already tired of his extra rudeness to me-- he asked me my last name- I told him, he looked at the register and said" has this been paid for"? I responded by asking "doesn't the computer tell you that"?, he then said, yeah, but I am asking you. So, I said yes, he turned around and went through the to go orders, he found mine I guess, kinda through it in my arms-- Mind you, my order was $45.00 , so it was obvious that my whole order was not in there. So I opened my bag, as I asked him if my 3 orders of lettuce wraps were in there-- and again responded very arrogantly with the answer of " It should be". I then looked and more than half of my order was missing. I was very frustrated with him, about to ask for someone that actually gave a crap about me, and then the other cashier stepped in and was very polite and fixed my order. I asked the guy that fixed it what the name of the other guy (the rude one) was, and he said Brandon. I was in the service business for years, I promise you Brandon has no business dealing with the public. What a joke!!! Good thing I was just tired and hungry- or there would of been a much bigger scene. I did not deserve to be treated like this!! Then , when I got home, my mixed greens were supposed to be just greens, no carrots and other items, of course that was wrong. What a waste of $45.00. It is very rare Husband and I frequent chain restaurants but Pei Wei is one of those places that is either really good or not good at all. Almost always, they have a friendly door person who takes to-go orders. Melissa is more friendly and more efficient than those before her because she cares. We've been several times. The food is always above average. They have knowledgeable staff to assist you. The food is always served as it comes up so it doesn't sit in the kitchen while waiting for the entire order. Pei Wei may not appear to be much, but I have been more times than to any other restaurant ever since they opened this first location in Memphis and I have almost never had anything less than a great experience. First off, the food tastes fresh and is almost always cooked just right. They have so much variety, from Japanese to Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and more. The price is just right in my book, and it's casual and their pickup service is always great. I like the atmosphere; it's got a darker interior with low lighting and black and red colors going on, but it's real casual and so it's a great place to go with friends to just have a good, inexpensive dinner together. I have been eating at Pei Wei for years before I move to West TN and now go here whenever I'm in Memphis.
