Customer Service is excellent, food plating and presentation excellent. Flavor and taste, not as what I enjoyed.

I have lived in Chester for over 20 years and eaten regularly at Peking for lunch and dinner. The last few years the restaurant and it s food have taken a dive in my ratings. Had dinner there tonight and food was acceptable but when I got the bill we all were charged extra for the rice. RICE really? I guess the nearby McDonald s will be charging extra for the buns next. There are MANY nearby Chinese restaurants now so they wont be seeing my family anytime soon. read more

We have eaten at this restaurant several times and usually have a good experience. Today, we are furious. It's Mother's Day and we were looking forward to having dinner there. They created a special menu of select items from their regular menu and JACKED THE PRICES UP ABOUT FOUR DOLLARS PER ENTREE. There was no desert included, nothing extra, no egg roll or soup included - NOTHING TO JUSTIFY INCREASING THE PRICE OTHER THAN TO GOUGE THE CUSTOMER. Nothing different than their regular menu. Just a complete screw job to their regular customers. Why? Don't tell me it's because the had to pay anyone extra to work on Mother's Day - that's part of working in a restaurant. We went to O'Charley's and had a great meal, served by a friendly waiter and was given a coupon for a free slice of pie on my next visit - JUST FOR PATRONIZING THEIR RESTAURANT ON MOTHER'S DAY. That is the way to treat customers. It'll be a long time before we eat at Peking - if ever again. read more

My parents and I come here at least once or twice when I'm home from school on the holidays and I had it every other week or so in high school. I love the atmosphere here and the dishes are always clean and well presented. The hot tea is delicious and their crab rangoon are my favorite item on the menu. The rice, fried or white, is always cooked well and I've never ordered an entree I didn't like. For my family, my stepfather always orders the Dragon Phoenix seafood special with shrimp, scallops, lobster and chicken in a pretty pungent onion and pepper sauce. My mother and I tend to order two of the poultry entrees and usually end up sharing and tasting from each other's plates. The tai chen chicken is definitely my favorite and my mom usually goes for general tso's or the king pao chicken. read more

Just finished dinner, and it was great! First, it's a Wednesday night, there is no one at Japanese restaurant at other end of their strip of stores, but Peking is almost filled! Second, there were two different Chinese families having dinner when I got here, and you know what that means! Service was great, no time in between courses, but did not feel rushed either! Had the Lemon Shrimp special which had 12 very nice sized shrimp! Could only eat half! Interior hasn't been updated in decades, BUT they keep the place really clean!!! Every fake flower was dusted! No torn fabric on chairs! When a place is clean, it makes a world of difference!! I really recommend this place! read more

Chester has some surprisingly good restaurants and Peking is a great example. The service is polite and professional. The food is outstanding. Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. The food is always fresh and well prepared. I do not miss living in Chester, but I do miss Peking. I go out of my way to eat there every time I am in the area. read more

I can't believe this place has gotten as many stars as it has. You people must not know good Chinese food lol. It was a sorry excuse of a gourmet Chinese restaurant. 1. The decor was as outdated as an old Chinese restaurant that would host weddings on the weekends. I haven't seen Pink cloths in a very long time. 2. The Shrimp Dim Sum - You can easily tell by the Small dumpling and what's inside that the whole thing was frozen and just steamed to reheat. It was small, not much larger than a quarter each, the shrimp inside was soggy and the moment you picked it up, it fell apart. Classic signs of being frozen, then steamed. 3. Twin Delight Shrimp and Chicken - The chicken was okay. It was in a brown sauce that I assume is just a generic garlic sauce most chinese restaurants use for everything. But DAMN the shrimp was cooked to hell!! It looked like it was obliterated in the pan or something. It was completely shriveled up, and very rubbery. 4. This was the most offensive of all. The Peking Duck. Supposedly, they tell you that you get an ENTIRE Duck with the order. We see a big plate coming out and we're thinking "Cool, big, yummy, juicy duck." WRONG. On that big ass plate was a small, girlie-hand-size portion or duck breast meat. Some skin. And 4 legs. ALL AND I MEAN ALL the meat was completely dry. If you know anything about good Chinese restaurants serving Duck is that they leave the Roasted Duck completely whole until someone orders it. That ensures that it stays juicy, and it ensures the customers that they're getting ALL of the duck that they've just paid for. You can easily tell that they've pre-cut all the meat, separated them from the skin and leave them in a buffet style pan in the back until it's ordered. I'm telling you, the portion we had was about 1/4 of duck for $27!! And PANCAKES???? CHINESE Pancakes are suppose to be hand made. THEY SERVED US PEKING DUCK IN TORTILLAS!!!! What a complete disrespect to duck. Overall the atmosphere of the employees were very sedentary. Our waiter wasn't too bad but we had to sit with empty glasses waiting for water about three times before they noticed we were thirsty. read more

I totally love this Peking Restaurant. They have a lunch special that I like so well I hardly ever try anything else. It's a Shrimp & Chicken Fried Rice in a Pineapple Boat. It has a spring roll, a crab Ragoon, Daikon Salad and a spicy slaw along with the pineapple that was cut out of the pineapple boat. And topping it off is a nice skewer of beef. Their Wanton Soup is delicious and my husband loves their Moo Goo Shrimp. They are reasonably priced, very friendly and eat in or take out we get great service. read more

I would really like to give this place a ZERO! Got the Kung Pao Chicken, was 70% celery and extremely bland. The fried rice was dry. I love Chinese food and this can easily be the worst I've ever had! For the life of me I can't understand how this place got any reviews with more than one star??? read more

It's been a while since I've eaten here but it was always pretty good, not great. I would definitely eat there again. The Sunday buffet is fairly extensive and usually fresh. The interior was quite dated and was not the cleanest....maybe they have fixed that since I was there. read more

I hope the food is good because the service sucks so far! Sat for ten minutes before they even asked what we wanted to drink. Now we have been waiting ten more minutes for our soup and egg rolls??? Best Chinese food in Virginia. You will not be sorry. Chicken is real chicken slices, not fat & gristle like the cheap places. Every dish we have tried has been superb. Service can be slow at times but worth the wait. read more

My wife and I have eaten there often and the food is good. We stopped in for dinner on Sunday and were given paper menus that said "Holiday Menu". I noticed the prices were higher and asked the waitperson. She informed me they raised the prices for the holidays and would lower them back afterwards. I was not happy to say the least. Nothing says Holiday spirit like jacking up your prices. We left and will not be returning. I hope they got enough extra money to cover the permanent business loss. read more

The rating would be higher except for one thing: They raise their prices on holidays and don't tell you when you call in your order! Isn't this price gouging? You don't get anything extra. You just get to pay more for the same dish because it's a holiday. When I complained to the manager, he apparently could care less. What a shame! The meal was very good. The food was well prepared, our server was attentive and courteous. This restaurant and location have been a family favorite for nearly 20 years. My only concern is one that I think the management is overlooking, possibly to be politically correct. I think young staffers should feel perfectly comfortable with adorning themselves with any type of of body piercings and tattoos they desire..... on their time. When they are preparing and serving food to paying customers, lose the nose rings, eyebrow rings and cover the tats with sleeves and collars. We've dined around the world and there are well-known and respected restaurants here and elsewhere that require servers and staff to forego displaying artsy piercings and body art during shifts. I really don't want to look at the large piece of jewelry hanging out of my server's nose. It's not aesthetically pleasing to me and detracts from what should be an otherwise pleasant outing. read more
