Pretty good. As someone who normally has apps and rice or lo mein, this place meets or exceeds expectations.

Anyone who knows me will tell you, I believe the best Chinese food is in Boston. So much so that…read moreEVERYTIME I come home, I must have Chinese. Growing up in Boston, I have my favorite spots to go to. However, one of my favorite spots closed down recently which led my Bestfriend to find us a new option for Chinese. In walks Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth. Doing a search in the area, we discovered Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth. The reviews were raving about how good the food was, so I had to go. Driving up, it's your typical carry-out. Nothing special, but it's easy to find and there is ample parking. After taking a look at the menu, I decided on the Pu Pu Platter for 1 with a Sm Lobster Sauce. I placed my preset at the window, paid, and took a seat. The location was very clean. The ambiance is very take-out suggestive and the lighting is slightly dim, but not in a romantic way... After a few minutes, my food was ready and my order was called. From the moment I took ownership of the bag I was excited. The smells that were coming out of the bag were amazing. I could literally smell my entire order and it had my mouth watering. As the Pu Pu Platter provides a variety, I will admit that EVERYTHING that comes in the platter was AMAZING (I don't eat shrimp so I can't speak on the shrimp). Beef Teriyaki - Meaty. Moist. Well flavored. Perfectly done. Perfect size. Chicken Wings - Flavorful and Perfectly Done. Nice size. Boneless Ribs - These steal the show as they are beyond amazing. Sweet and Salty, meaty with not a lot of fat. Perfect amount of sauce. These were the highlight of my plate. Chicken Fingers - Thick. Battered well. Great with the Sweet & Sour Sauce. Not hard. Egg Roll - HUGEEEEEEEEEEEE. Fresh. Flavorful and Crispy. The Lobster Sauce was good as well. It was standard for a carry out but the flavor profile was that of a quality restaurant. It was as meaty as it was saucy. All I know is that I am sold on Chinatown Restaurant in Weymouth and will be returning every time I come back home. LoL.

I think when you start a review with "the person who took my order was very, very nice". You know…read moreit's not going to be a really positive review. So we ordered food from Chinatown Restaurant and like I said the person who took our order was very, very nice. We got General Gau's "chicken" with an Egg Roll and Chicken Fingers. I'll start with the Chicken Fingers which were as good as I have ever had. They were awesome. That's the good now for not so good part of the review.... The egg roll had this sugary taste to it. I've eaten hundreds if not thousands of egg rolls in my lifetime and never before have I tasted an egg roll that had this sugary taste to it. Not sweet but like someone doused it with sugar before cooking it. Not a good taste sensation either. The General Gau's Chicken had dark meat which I am not a fan of. It also looked and tasted more like pork than chicken and had this funky taste to it that did not enhance it good. Thankfully it was not very spicy. The pork fried rice had lots of pork but the rice tasted very bland. It only had one slice of Mushroom and one slice of onion. No egg bits. No bean sprouts no anything that usually makes the rice taste better. It looked like it was the bottom of the barrel; which considering it was an hour before they closed it probably was. I struggled to eat about 1/8 of my meal then threw it away. We also got Lo Mein and that was also bland as heck. I gave them three stars based on how good the Chicken Fingers were and how nice the people who work there are. Summary: I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it was an hour before they closed and try them again. I struggled to give them three stars because like I said earlier the chicken fingers were good and the people who work there were very, very nice. I would say avoid them an hour or two before closing.

Totally incongruous with the surrounding environment. Walked in... nothing fancy. Maybe 5 tables. The food was just not good. I had the big wonton soup ( the one with all the extras ). The broth was very bland. The wontons were the nice thin wrappers, but the filling tasted "off". And there was enough noodles in the bowl to make it difficult to eat. I ate a few bites and left the rest. I also ordered the boneless spare ribs. They had a nice cook to them. Nice color. Nice charing. But... just not flavorful, and dry. Very dry. I ate a few pieces, and left the rest. Over all, I would not recommend nor return.

It is literally across from a condo complex and offers 3 parking spaces in the front. Inside there is a relatively clean front room and a back room that is simply decorated. I highly recommend the wontons ($13 w/o tax) with noodle soup as it tastes very bouncy and not too salty. The beef chow foon ($16 w/o tax) has wok hei (smoky) taste to it. The lemongrass chicken on rice ($14 w/o tax) is okay. Service is friendly and prompt. There is one bathroom for customer use.

Walked out of a fantastic yoga class at Centerville Yoga and went over to find an eggroll. After reading all the reviews, I figured, what could the harm be. Let's try the eggroll and take it from there. Many years (1980's) there was a Chinese restaurant in Shrewsbury, before it was the gross Chumlees (defunct, THANK GOODNESS!). They had THE BEST eggrolls I had ever had. As much as I love Lotus Blossom, their eggrolls are good, but never THOSE. So, I walk into GHZR and ask for a large order (=2) eggrolls. And steamed peking ravioli (AH HOW I MISS MARLBOROUGHS China Taste, an unfortunate victim of Covid, who had ALMOST perfect eggrolls and the best peking ravioli, the ones my toddler grew into a teen eating...). One of the owners was so cute when she said "Our eggrolls are ok. Eggrolls are one of those things that people have one they love and then they get that one stuck in their heads forever. And our peking ravioli are good, but maybe not the best you've had. I will give you the best ginger sauce. Mine is better than my uncles!"... Out came my order to go and out I went. Into the car. Hungry. Pulled it out. Munched on it. AND ANGELS SANG! What are you talking about girl? YOU GOT IT NAILED! If I eat nothing else from your place, it will only be eggrolls and you will still get a 5 star review from me. NAILED IT. Ravioli? Meaty, not salty, doughy, and delicious. I think I found my new Chinese crave joint, only 6 minutes from my house! REDEMPTION for moving so dang far away from my always Hudson. THANK YOU GUYS!

TLDR: Potentially…read moreone of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Massachusetts! Beautiful interior, centrally located, and delicious, high-quality food. Will definitely find a reason to come back here soon. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] STIR-FRIED CABBAGE W/ PORK BELLY (5/5) Presentation was phenomenal (in a clay pot with its own burner underneath to keep it hot). The portion was much larger than expected, and most importantly, it tasted incredible. Generous amounts of pork in this, and the sauce was authentic and addicting. 2. SCALLION CHICKEN (5/5) Another great choice. This was a huge portion with lots of tender chicken, and the scallion was present without being overpowering. 3. CRISPY BEEF WITH FRIED DOUGH STICKS (5/5) I was expecting Chinese you tiao but these were actually the small, ultra crispy manhua twists! Paired with the beef, this was a large and unique dish that I loved. The crispiness of the mahua made this a textural delight to eat. 4. MANGO SAGO DESSERT (5/5) Big portion, wonderful assortment of toppings including grapefruit, mango, sago, and popping balls over a creamy dessert soup base. 5. PEKING DUCK (4/5) I think I'm a tough critic since I just came back from Beijing and had so much Peking duck there. We ordered the half portion here and it had a generous amount of meat for not being the full portion. There were an assortment of accompaniments, including pineapple (new to me) and sugar (like the Beijing style) which were welcome additions. The wrappers were steamed well and didn't curl up on the edges. Overall this was a solid Peking duck, but the meat wasn't as standout as I was hoping. 6. STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLING (4/5) Solid soup dumplings. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely hit the spot. 7. SAUTEED PEA SPROUTS (4/5) Another solid classic. 8. PORK MEATBALL IN CRAB MEAT SAUCE (4/5) This was the most unique thing we ordered. I've never had a shi zi tou meatball with crab meat sauce before. The meatball itself was large (maybe size of a tennis ball), tender, and fatty, as it should be. It was then drowned in a generous lake of traditional crab meat sauce. If you're not a fan of crab meat then this might be a bit too fishy for you, but honestly it all combined surprisingly well and I grew to like this dish more and more with each bite. I wasn't the biggest fan to start, but by the end I wouldn't have minded getting another one! ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * The interior has the classic Asian style of decor, but you can tell it was recently built / renovated because everything felt new and fresh. * The ambiance also felt more new-school luxurious vs. the typical Asian establishments that are more no-frills with as many tables packed in as possible * You're still somewhat close to the tables around you, but it's not overwhelming during lunch time and we still felt like we had enough space regardless * There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant and then a large, spacious dining room in the back * This is a great place for a date or a meaningful family gathering * Right outside is Boston Common, making this restaurant very well-located for lunch before or after a nice day in the park. While there's lots of parking around the park, a spot itself can be hard to come by, so your best bet might be to use the nearby parking garage instead ------ SERVICE: * Overall the service was great and quick. They did forget our tea, but when we asked for it later they apologized profusely and were quick to bring it out for us * This place fills up quickly so be sure to come early if you don't have a reservation or if you're a big enough group, make a reservation for your desired dining time

Peking Duck (7/10): Honestly, I never order Peking duck unless I'm with my relatives. It tasted good to me, but pretty comparable to other Peking ducks I've had in the US.
