This restaraunt is a hidden gem. I'm a little sad reading all the negative reviews that people have made about this place, but everyone has their own preference and opinion. I've been coming to this place for years now. I absolutely love the food, I find it to be very flavorful and affordable! Their lunch menu special, especially is a great deal! I haven't found a Chinese restaraunt here in Fairfield that's not as good as this. I stopped going to Panda Express which is just a couple blocks away ever since I discovered this place. I don't understand why people say the service is awful because I have never been treated poorly coming here. I think all of the staff is very friendly. People giving high ratings need to go to a Chinese restaurant that serves even mediocre food. This place caters to those that don't know the difference. The food is bland and consists of veggies that are basic and not the ones that should be in the item ordered. In other words cheap stuff - carrots, celery, green bean, etc. We ordered the garlic chicken and vegetables which contained no garlic and no garlic flavor. The veggies in it were the carrots, celery, one snow pea and one green bean cut in half. If you took this order and added three shrimp, three won ton and one small bok choy and cooked it in a bland water base, you would have the Wor Won Ton soup that we ordered! The excessive batter used to prepare the walnut shrimp hides the small size of the shrimp. The girl taking orders either speaks no English, or only responds to what she wants. We were craving Chinese and we were not about to drive to Vallejo in the rain so we decided to give Peking another try. We placed the order and it was ready within 25 minutes. This time we got: Mu Shu Pork, Honey Walnut Prawns, Beef with Broccoli, and House Chow Mein. The Mu Shu was delicious, the prawns were pretty good, the beef with broccoli was bland, and the chow mein was just okay. Overall we both agree this place is good for a quick Chinese food fix but our heart still belongs to China Wok in Vallejo. read more

Let me start by saying what used to be my favorite restaurant is now under new ownership. I had been going to Peking since they opened and am heart broken. I approached my visit yesterday with an open mind. I do not like change and was hoping I could just continue my run with a go-to Chinese restaurant. The service was not the same, though the food came out super fast I felt like the staff was new to the restaurant industry. The food as expected was not the same. I expected the food to be different but hoped it would taste amazing. Unfortunately I was let down. I went safe and ordered something I have had plenty of times. Cashew nut chicken with chow mein. I went for the lunch special this time. Cashew nut chicken actually tasted very good. The chow mein lacked flavor. We had to ask for the soup that comes with the lunch special as it was forgotten. I didn't feel up to trying it but my 1.5 y/o enjoyed it. My in-laws ordered the won-ton soup which my father-in-law described as inedible. He stated the shrimp was rubbery and hard to chew. I was cutting pieces for the baby but found the shrimp had not been deveined. I won't say it is a zero star moment but I am not sure I will go back anytime soon. I hope as time goes on they grow into a great restaurant. Maybe in a few months I will be open to giving the new ownership another try. I wish them the best of luck. Great service, good food, comfortable atmosphere. I ordered the eggplant schezuan lunch special that came with soup, fried rice or chow mein and an eggroll. I added chicken to it and got half fried rice and half chow mein which was a dollar extra. Big portions! I couldn't eat all of it but I think it would've been perfect for two people to share. I called today to order some food craving Chinese as I'm expecting again & as I was reading new reviews thought to ask if they were under new management being that many people have mentioned it. Of course the host on the phone just insisted it was the same which is a complete lie. They have new plating, they bed their dry appetizers on wet soggy lettuce???? The orange chicken tastes old not fresh, the beef broccoli is unseasoned... the food is just plain awful! Please listen to these reviews! I skipped over them because I thought maybe they could just have had a bad experience and I have now experienced first hand that these were not false statements! Will never order from this restaurant again. It was raining the night of my order and I ended up getting into an accident. Obviously shaken, my first goal was to make it back home. I got a call from the restaurant asking if I was coming to pick up the food. I explained what happened and was essentially told that they wasted food (making my order). The fried food tasted as though it had been fried in stale oil and, although a $14.95 lunch should fill a person up, the amount has shrunken significantly. Beware that they also charge $1.25 or $1.50 person for hot tea. Our table of 10 had to ask for a second pot of tea. Tried this restaurant with the family for the first time. This place was recommended by a good friend of mine and I'm so glad she introduced me to this little hole in the wall gem! Don't be deceived by the aesthetics of the place. This is not exactly the most glamorous restaurant but there is no sacrifice to the quality of food served here. The prices are reasonable and serving portions are generous. The big plus is the food is cooked fresh/made-to-order and not wilting away on a buffet steam table for hours. You can definitely taste the difference! Ordered the House Fried Rice, Vegetable Deluxe, Glazed Walnut Prawns and House Special Ribs this visit and was not disappointed. Can't wait to try out the other dishes on our return trip. Small strip mall shop that we picked based on Yelp reviews and proximity to our location at the time. Staff was extremely pleasant and friendly, service prompt and food arrived quickly. My wife enjoyed her Pork Fried Rice. I was disappointed with my Mongolian Beef. It wasn't bad, meaning they could have called it something else and you'd be perfectly satisfied with it. It just wasn't what I've come to expect from Mongolian Beef. There was no trace of Hoisin sauce in the mix. It wasn't spicy at all. The wait was about 35 minutes due to it being a Friday night, which they said is one of their busiest times. The restaurant looks like it needs some updating, which explains why there weren't very many people eating in. On the other hand, the staff was friendly and engaged in conversation with me while I waited for my order. The Orange Chicken wasn't the fried kind, which is what I prefer. Eggrolls were hot and crisp, and were complimented by the sweet and sour sauce Beef fried had nice, plump pieces of soft rice and vegetables that were beautifully paired together. Kung pao chicken nice, juicy pieces of chicken, paired with peanuts, onions and other tasty veggies, in a sauce that was really good. Mongolian beef was abundant with meat, and crispy noodles on top. Honey walnut...my favorite, didn't disappoint. Nice, plump shrimp in a beautiful thick glaze, with nice chunks of honey walnuts that were crunchy and sweet. It was beef with vegetables and no spice and no flavor Honey Walnut Prawns- not even close to good, more like edible during survival instances. Tasted like cheaply breaded shrimp lathered with mayo and sprinkled with sugar. Only thing that was decent was the walnuts but only if you wiped the sauce off of it. I eat here from time to time and usually Its a 3.5. I order the same dish every time Mongolian beef and Salt and Pepper Fish. I dont know what happened, I can only assume they hired a subpar cook because the Mongolian beef had no taste, sauce appeared light in color, and beef was under cooked. The Salt And Pepper fish is a dish with battered deep fried cod which was over battered, making a very hard crust. They had no other customers to attend to so no real reason to screw this up badly. In response to Yelp's identifying good Chinese food in Norcal, I think this place deserves a mention. I am from Oakland, Chinese food every block and most of it authentic and delicious. Since moving to Vacaville and later Fairfield, it is a lot more difficult to find quality Chinese food. After a decade of tying new places and returning to few, we found Peking by accident. Now it is almost a weekly visit, and that's saying something since I cook at least five nights a week, by the way the ribs I smoked last night.........perfection. Peking has a quaint, quiet dine in area, soon as Covid is done can't wait to sit there again. But have no fear take out always available. Their food is authentic Chinese just like the bay area. Over 40 visits and never made us sick, which shitty Chinese food can do. I absolutely love their House chow mein, their sweet and sour pork and crab rangoons. All of their dishes are balanced between sweet, savory and acidity. We have had most of the menu items and have never had a bad dish, but we do have our favorites. The spring rolls are yummy too. If in Solano county from whatever city it is worth the drive. The price is fair, mind you I said fair, not cheap. Try their in house made red chili sauce, pretty amazing. We're in Fairfield for a couple of days attending a seminar. When hunger set in, we needed something to eat soon. We used the monocle feature on the Droid Yelp app. We located this restaurant and a Japanese one. Since there were others joining us, we settled on Peking. The staff was pleasant and accomodating. We were the last ones there and the staff patiently cleaned up other parts of the restaurant while we were wrapping up. There is nothing special about the place itself. Plain. But it was clean. We ordered one of the specials .. the Peking something-or-other for 5. We had a lot of food. Just when I thought they were done bringing us food, they brought us even more. We all walked away full. We took some with us and then gave it to a homeless woman. I hope she ate it. It would have satisfied her hunger for the evening and the taste would have brought a smile to her face. If this restaurant were in Orange County we would be back soon. It may not be good enough for a 400 mile drive. :-) read more

Amazing customer service, they literally remember your name, great flavors and textures, will alter dishes per request, truly out to please the customer. I've been coming to this restaurant as long as I can remember. By far the best Chinese food in town. I've had them cater a couple of parties (like 10 years ago, but the food still rocks). During a recent business trip, I stayed at the Courtyard nearby and was looking for some solo food options that would be quick and easy to take back to the hotel. I drove by Peking and decided to give it a try. It certainly has that divey Chinese food place look from the outside (and not a whole lot different inside). Once inside, I could tell this place was fairly popular - tables were full and those coming in for takeout seemed to be regulars. Overall, the food was great and I certainly would give this another try if I am back soon! read more

Best Chinese restaurant in Fairfield!! I am so glad my fiancé turned me onto this place! He has been coming here for over a decade - I have been for 3 years. They know us by name. Fresh ingredients, low grease, low or no MSG, clean if a tad dated interior. Can make many of the options vegetarian - all you have to do is ask. They will also make any or all of your dishes any "heat" (spicy) level you ask for. Great chow fun, eggplant dishes are not goopy (yay!), tofu (errr, bean curd) is better than most. Unlike most places (and my grandmother) they don't over cook the veggies!!!! Owners are such nice people! Wish asparagus was in season more as they only offer it seasonally. With the lack of customers inside the restaurant, you'd think the service would be substantial. Well, think again. We ordered the house special fried rice, glazed walnut prawns & orange chicken. I told the server to leave a menu because we might order more later. You can probably guess that we didn't. So we got most of our food. The orange chicken didn't make it to the table. We just started eating, thinking we will get the chicken soon enough. Yet, we were wrong again. Chicken came when we were already done eating. So I told them that we didn't want the chicken anymore because we were already done eating. Server still suggested we take it "to go". I still refused. So the server took the chicken back and about a minute later, we heard a Big Bang in the kitchen! One can just speculate of all the commotion in there. My guess would be that someone was upset about the chicken being brought back. My son had to go to the counter and ask for extra plates. We never got refills on our water. The rice didn't taste good. It tasted like it had been in a buffet pan for about an hour. Portions are very small. I can eat both the prawns and rice on my own, which totaled $25. As we left, they were giving the chicken to us for free. To which I strongly refused but they were very insistent. We took it home, only to set it gently inside out trash bin. Safe to say that we will never set foot in this restaurant again. On another note: There was a gentleman picking up his food while we were waiting for ours. At the end of his transaction, the server up front and he had a fiery exchange. Something about "customer service", "respect" and both saying "you don't know me!" So you've been warned.
