Atmosphere inside could use some work. Not a real big dining area and the area int he back of room looks uninviting. Was greeted and seated very quickly. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu. I chose the honey walnut shrimp lunch portion. The shrimp was a little over cooked and was crunchy like it was fried chicken. The rice was a good consistency and loaded with LOTS of chicken, they definitely didn't skimp on it. I really enjoyed there noodles PERFECT! I did not like the soup was TOOoooo THICK tasted like a GRAVY not a soup. Was also not as hot as i would have liked it. Also, the egg roll was barely warm and tasted stale but down the hatch it went anyway. This place had a cute little set up with lights. We had two different waitresses come up to us 3X asking if we were ready to order within about 5 minutes so I definitely felt rushed to order. First we ordered hot tea and unfortunately it was luke warm. We also ordered soup that was luke warm as well, so my husband ask them to warm it up. It was much better hot. We ordered the Szechuan shrimp which was ok, a little spicy. Also ordered the homemade chow mein noodles with vegetables which was good, I liked the veggies in it but it was kind of plain in flavor. Both main dishes were not bad but not great either. My husband and I agreed that we would come back, but we would try different dishes. I don't think we would come back for the dishes we got again though so we will see... we want to give them another try but if it's another experience like the one we had today, we won't go back. read more

Ordered togo from here for dinner last night and I'll never go back. My fried rice and egg rolls were sitting on the table at least 15 minutes before they brought out my bean curd and veggie dish which by the way was $13.95 and in a tiny container ( could've eaten this by myself ) , they obviously forgot about my sweet and sour chicken ( also in a very small container ) because it was another 10 minutes before that came out. We've gone here off and on for over 20 years but haven't gone much at all for quite a few years. Quality seemed like it had gone down hill, but we decided to try it again a little over a month ago. Cold and rainy night and wor won ton soup sounded great. Got that and an order of egg rolls to go. Right away I was impressed by how much nicer it looked inside. They took out the carpet and just have probably laminate flooring now. Made a big difference, looks lighter, brighter and much cleaner now. It seems like it is new ownership since the last time we were there. We have since gone back twice and eaten in. Everything we've had is very good. Large portions and very colorful and pretty to look at. Service is good also. So far the only negative is it's pretty cold in the restaurant, even for my warm natured husband. I've been coming here for over 25 years and it changed ownership recently which some times completely changes the experience but with Peking the new owners did a great job of revamping the location but keeping the menu items consistent with the previous menu. The new owners are doing a great job and the staff is polite and friendly every time. I've been coming to this place for years now. I absolutely love the food, I find it to be very flavorful and affordable! Their lunch menu special, especially is a great deal! I haven't found a Chinese restaraunt here in Fairfield that's not as good as this. I stopped going to Panda Express which is just a couple blocks away ever since I discovered this place. I Yelped this place and read all of the reviews. It looked pretty good so onward ho to Peking Restaurant. Seated right away, I went with their lunch special - served daily from 11:15 am to 3:30 pm and noon to 3:30 pm on Sundays. Their lunch special was split into two columns (A and B). Column A served with Steamed Rice or Chow Mein and House Soup. Column B served with Chicken Fried Rice or Chow Mein, House Soup and Egg Roll. I couldn't quite put a handle on the category criteria for each unique dish offered under the split column option as they both had chicken, beef and seafood offered. Anyway I got the Chicken in Special Szechuan Sauce under the B section (general cho's chicken) 8.75. Soon enough egg flower soup was served. It didn't take long before the general checked in. The chicken fried rice was tasty and the szechuan chicken was satisfying. The egg roll was a nice added stuffer. Their complimentary house tea was better than your average joe. In other words cheap stuff - carrots, celery, green bean, etc. We ordered the garlic chicken and vegetables which contained no garlic and no garlic flavor. The veggies in it were the carrots, celery, one snow pea and one green bean cut in half. If you took this order and added three shrimp, three won ton and one small bok choy and cooked it in a bland water base, you would have the Wor Won Ton soup that we ordered! The excessive batter used to prepare the walnut shrimp hides the small size of the shrimp. The girl taking orders either speaks no English, or only responds to what she wants.
