This place had a cute little set up with lights. We had two different waitresses come up to us 3X asking if we were ready to order within about 5 minutes so I definitely felt rushed to order. First we ordered hot tea and unfortunately it was luke warm. We also ordered soup that was luke warm as well, so my husband ask them to warm it up. It was much better hot. We ordered the Szechuan shrimp which was ok, a little spicy. Also ordered the homemade chow mein noodles with vegetables which was good, I liked the veggies in it but it was kind of plain in flavor. Both main dishes were not bad but not great either. My husband and I agreed that we would come back, but we would try different dishes. I don't think we would come back for the dishes we got again though so we will see... we want to give them another try but if it's another experience like the one we had today, we won't go back. read more

Ordered togo from here for dinner last night and I'll never go back. My fried rice and egg rolls were sitting on the table at least 15 minutes before they brought out my bean curd and veggie dish which by the way was $13.95 and in a tiny container ( could've eaten this by myself ) , they obviously forgot about my sweet and sour chicken ( also in a very small container ) because it was another 10 minutes before that came out. We've gone here off and on for over 20 years but haven't gone much at all for quite a few years. Quality seemed like it had gone down hill, but we decided to try it again a little over a month ago. Cold and rainy night and wor won ton soup sounded great. Got that and an order of egg rolls to go. Right away I was impressed by how much nicer it looked inside. They took out the carpet and just have probably laminate flooring now. Made a big difference, looks lighter, brighter and much cleaner now. It seems like it is new ownership since the last time we were there. We have since gone back twice and eaten in. Everything we've had is very good. Large portions and very colorful and pretty to look at. Service is good also. So far the only negative is it's pretty cold in the restaurant, even for my warm natured husband. 4 stars because the food is good, the service is great but they're sometimes closed on odd days of the week that do not match their posted hours online or on the door. I love the egg drop soup. I've been coming here for over 25 years and it changed ownership recently which some times completely changes the experience but with Peking the new owners did a great job of revamping the location but keeping the menu items consistent with the previous menu. The new owners are doing a great job and the staff is polite and friendly every time. Seated right away, I went with their lunch special - served daily from 11:15 am to 3:30 pm and noon to 3:30 pm on Sundays. Their lunch special was split into two columns (A and B). Column A served with Steamed Rice or Chow Mein and House Soup. Column B served with Chicken Fried Rice or Chow Mein, House Soup and Egg Roll. I couldn't quite put a handle on the category criteria for each unique dish offered under the split column option as they both had chicken, beef and seafood offered. Anyway I got the Chicken in Special Szechuan Sauce under the B section (general cho's chicken) 8.75. Soon enough egg flower soup was served. It didn't take long before the general checked in. I've passed by it several times but because it's hidden away in the corner of the Raleys plaza, my eyes skipped over it everytime. I was greeted by the sweetest lady ever, Jenny. She's such a doll and was able to answer all of my questions about the menu that I had. Ready for my breakdown of the food? Wonton soup: They do not skimp on the wonton and meat here. Usually the soup is all broth but here the soup was hearty annnnnd tasty. Egg drop soup: This was the one dish I was somewhat disappointed in even though other people raved about it. The corn in the soup overwhelmed the flavor of the broth. I thought it was just OK. Green bean beef: LOTS of green beans.. Not drenched in sauce. Just enough to have the nice flavor and not overwhelm it. Orange shrimp: This was one of my favorites. The flavor of the sauce was so good! And the shrimp wasn't ridiculously covered in batter.. Just enough. Sweet and sour pork: Your typical sauce. Nothing special but it was still tasty. The pork was a little chewy though. Honey walnut prawns: They gave us so much!! And again, the shrimp wasn't covered in a crazy amount of batter so it was really good. Oh and they give a good amount of walnuts too. House special fried rice: This place has the best fried rice.. This restaraunt is a hidden gem. I'm a little sad reading all the negative reviews that people have made about this place, but everyone has their own preference and opinion. I've been coming to this place for years now. I absolutely love the food, I find it to be very flavorful and affordable! Their lunch menu special, especially is a great deal! I haven't found a Chinese restaraunt here in Fairfield that's not as good as this. I stopped going to Panda Express which is just a couple blocks away ever since I discovered this place. I don't understand why people say the service is awful because I have never been treated poorly coming here. I think all of the staff is very friendly.
