I've been coming to this place since it opened as who doesn't want to find the best boba place in town? Being from evergreen this has always been a pretty popular place, with a line coming out the store being a normal thing. My first perception when entering this place was thinking if this place was a club or something. The lighting was on the dimmer side with cool lights. However, it really is only a boba place. I usually end up getting the foxy brown. It's the flavor that my best friend recommended and every since then I always enjoyed having it! There service is pretty good and the couch like things they have inside make it a comfy place to sit and wait for your drink to be made. I recommend if your looking for a smooth finish to go with Silky Black Grass Jelly only as well as maybe 25% sugar since most boba drinks are pretty sweet even still. I love the relaxed vibes, hearing old school R&B, Kaskade, with a chill club vibe without the crowd is pretty nice! Pekoe is one of San Jose's (or maybe overall, the Bay Area's) best known milk tea spots for good reason. Their signature drinks are simply amazing and unique! A few sweet favorites of mine include White Winter, Foxy Brown, & Pretty in Pink. For a refreshing drink, try their Manly Melons or Angela! The line can get definitely long at night or on the weekends, but that is because customers are willing to wait to get their drinks. They also have generated lots of popularity for their split cups, light bulb bottles, and cups w/ an LED light. In terms of the ambiance, it has the vibe of a modern lounge with upbeat music blasting. A PlayStation hooked up to a TV is available for customers to play. Service here is great every time I visit!! I don't know what they put in their drinks, but it's definitely delicious! But I've only tried their black dragon with grass jelly. I wanted to just finish the drink and order another one because it was so good! I thought it was cool that you can adjust to even 35% sweetness, which I've never seen before. That was perfect sweetness for me. Also came at an off hour so the line was not as bad. I've been here about 11 times already since I'm pretty close to the area and every time I go, I get something a lil different! Each drink has exceeded my expectations! I'm definitely very picky when it comes to boba and surprisingly I haven't liked anything new recently. The only hashtag I can think of when it comes to this place is #thisislit (I swear I said that all night to my friends once I got my drink). The line was crazy out the door at around 8pm for a Saturday, not too surprised. The menu was definitely the brightest thing there but I would've liked to have some loose menus around; bad eyesight and a crowd makes it a bit hard to look at choices before getting to the counter (signal wasn't too good so nothing on Yelp could load on my phone). After a 15 minute wait to order, I got the Kawaii drink (split cups won't let you put the light on it, gap on the cup). Mango, passion fruit and guava are some of my other favorites aside from anything lemon. I was actually surprised I didn't see lemon anywhere one the menu. Drinks took a while but with split cup orders, it's expected since one drink is the work of 2. Service was very friendly and quick. This place definitely isn't one that's good for sit down since there are only decent amount of couch seating inside ... the crowd of people doesn't make it easy to sit and enjoy it there. The music is fairly loud inside too so not a great place for a chat. For the drink, normal sweetness and regular ice was perfect for me. It was sweet and refreshing, just how I like it; the tea flavor was there but I definitely like things a bit sweeter. As for the mango jelly stars, they were really nice and didn't have the artificial sweetener taste to it. Next time I get the chance to come here, I'm getting double jelly in my drink. A friend of mine made her own drink with every option of taro they had, didn't turn out like she expected but the drink definitely tasted like taro (too think for the light to really show though). French Chicks-not as strong version of Cuppa Vo Sometimes the line can get long but service is so fast, you don't have to wait long. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night as we both had a craving for milk tea. I ordered the "Foxy Brown" and my husband ordered the "Pekoe special" Both teas were amazing. They were strong, but not too strong, and was sweet but not too sweet. The sweetness mostly came from the boba, which I didn't mind because if the tea tastes too sweet, it ruins the flavor. The ice and ice level was good, as well. It was big chunks so it didn't come up the straw, and there was just enough where the drink was kept cold throughout the hour that I drank it. The flavor was amazing. It was sweet, cold, and refreshing. It tasted perfect: brown sugar sweetness and just enough sugar. Came back here after a long while of not having visited and this place has really downgraded. Prices have increased to an average of $7-8 for a drink...and the most sugar reduction you can request for is 50%. However, the drinks still came out to be unbearably sweet. I took a double take at the drink label to see if they had simply forgotten I had requested 50% sugar or not because I couldn't believe that what was made for us was meant for 50% sweetness. In addition, I was trying to enter my phone number to redeem rewards. Note: the cashier did not prompt for me to enter my phone number at any point of me ordering my drinks. I hadn't finished entering my phone number yet when the cashier closed out the transaction, resulting in the rewards screen closing on me. When they came back out, I asked if I could re-enter my phone number since they didn't give me a chance to do so. I was told I can't enter my phone number after an order transaction has been completed...then why didn't the cashier give us a chance to at the beginning??? We ordered 6 drinks...which translates to a reward of a free drink the next time we come (which quite frankly I don't think we will be anymore after this experience anyways). Highly recommend the Kawaii: Jasmine Green Tea with Red Guava,Mango, & Passionfruit (reminds me of POG!). I substituted Aloe for the Mango Stars and added Sea Salt Crema (not too sweet, not too rich, and thankfully not yogurty tart some other tea houses). So refreshing. It was 98° on a scorching July evening and our large party needed a way to cool off. Boba was the answer. This was everyone's first time, with the exception of my eldest who swears by Pekoe & regularly makes the 1 hour ONE WAY trek to ESSJ from home. Walked in to what looks like a legit liquor bar. Dark interior accented by neon lights, mirrored walls, white pleather furniture and a dope playlist giving the narrow space a club vibe. The cash register is a mere few feet away from the main door so the lines backup fairly quickly but turnover is decent. The cashier who rang us up didn't make any recommendations so the plethora of options were overwhelming but we managed to customize 11 drinks to everyone's liking Pekoe offers 4 kinds of tea, dozens of syrup flavors, sea salt crema, milk, and standard toppings such as boba, popping boba, & aloe with an eclectic mix of fun-shaped jellies like hearts & stars. Disappointed that there aren't any true kid-friendly drinks (smoothies / slushes / decaffeinated teas). As a compromise, we were offered "25% less caffeine" for the littles. [REVELATION: it literally just dawned on me that this must've been why they were all kinds of hyphy at the mall after!!! Insert gasp & facepalm emojis. FML. Lesson learned.] Mom Tip: The split cups are a great idea: two individual cups are divided into literal half portions. They got my order ready in 2 minutes, which to me was surprisingly fast. They put all five cups in a Single tray in a way that drink was already spilling from one or two because of tilting and cup lids. They saw it, and I am sure they must have noticed it, but didn't bother offering an extra tray. We arrived before the huge crowd of people- so lucky. They don't have the air conditioning on so be prepared to sweat it out. The ambiance reminded me of a club lounge. I felt like I was somewhere in downtown San Jose but everyone was a teenager lol. Not my vibe but the tea is so good. It seems like there's always a wait. I was in the area , so I stopped by for a drink. The girl behind the counter was courteous and helpful. My usual choice, anywhere, is a taro milk tea. She recommended the #18 TMT. It has jasmine tea and jelly included, which sounded good to me. 50% sweetness is the default, it was just the right amount. You can ask them to adjust the sweetness and the tea strength. For only a dollar more, you can get your drink in a bulb shaped bottle! My TMT was surprisingly delicious, not just another usual taro milk tea. I've been here multiple times throughout the years but came again recently during shelter in place. I tried ordering online multiple times and even gave them a call but it seems like the only way to order is to physically go to the location and wait for the drinks to be made. I had a rather long list of drinks to order (I was dropping off boba for my friends to make quarantine a little brighter) and the employee behind the counter was very kind and patient as I tried to figure things out. I got the split cup ($5.18) with Pretty in Pink & Lets Get High at 25% sweetness and stronger tea. I originally wanted to try this spot out due to other people's recommendations on how strong the tea is. I'd beg to differ, maybe because the drinks I chose all had the pekoe milk cream, but I did not get much of a tea-kick at all. Pretty in Pink tasted like the strawberry milk drink you can get from Asian markets with added cute heart jellies and boba. You could hardly even eat any of the heart jelly while sipping on your drink since they don't generally fit in the large straw. Meh, nothing exciting. Got "Lets Get High" because my boyfriend likes oolong, but on initial taste, we felt like we were sipping on chocolate milk. Come here for the club feel, ABGs, fvkboys.... They are all here yo! Wait wait, there's more: dark ambience, EDM, loud music, hot worker at the cashiers, YASSSSSSS. This is the best milk tea in San Jose hands down. Their milk tea is really flavorful and they use organic sugars instead of syrup and you can really taste the difference. Their foxy brown is the best thing to happen to the world of milk tea. The menu says that it's their award winning tea and it is really that good. I think it's an Assam tea flavored with brown sugar. I also really like the sweet peach. It tastes basically like a peach iced tea and is really refreshing. You can also adjust sweetness and Ice levels. This is great for people who may prefer their drinks a little less sweet or a little more room temperature. If you can't choose between two flavors, get the split cup! It's really convenient because you get the best of both worlds. The only problem with this place is that the line is almost always out the door. I feel like they're kind of inefficient with taking orders which causes the line to move so slowly but once you order, your drink comes out pretty quickly. I would recommend trying to go at a weird time when there wouldn't be a line rather than peak hours which is after school ends and towards the evening/night. read more

My brother and I came here just before 10pm on a Friday. It was a rainy night and a little cold and the line was out the door. There was very limited room to sit inside and it was like a nightclub lounge. The right side of the menu was clearly visible from the doorway, but the left side of the menu was harder to read all of the descriptions/ingredients of the special drinks. I ordered a split cup and had the Pekoe Special on one side and the assam milk tea with pearls. I wasn't asked about any of the different levels for sugar, ice and others. It took a few minutes to make while we waited at the counter. The assam milk tea with pearls would be the closest milk tea with pearls with other places in my opinion. The flavor was okay and the pearls were pretty chewy. The Pekoe Special was not bad and definitely would recommend that if you're wanting to try something new. Night club meets boba. This hit spot definitely brings the attraction of the younger crowd (ok and us old folks too). They have lounge like booths ("bottle service like") that you can chill in with your friends and even has a play station to play with! The cashier was too flirty to the customer. We got a yung mungi at around 11:50pm just now. I like the #20 here and usually come here to get it. Being friendly is good but flirty sometimes make it awkward and uncomfortable for the customer . She's kinda asking too personal questions like "do you have a girlfriend and aw you're so nice to remember what your girlfriend like to drink huh, blah blah and more" It's too late and I am too tired to type everything out now, it sounds kinda weird lol. LOL My boyfriend went home and told me she's weird and flirty but he didn't want her to feel bad, but it was kind of uncomfortable though. Haha I personally think it was unnecessary to ask too much.
