Wanted a quick stop for boba before driving home to South Country Santa Cruz. So many places to close from do we decided on Tastea this time. I ordered my drink 27 minutes ago and am still waiting. So much for getting home at a reasonable time. At about 16 min in, they gave us our order but had put Oreo in both teas instead of just in my son's. I don't like Oreo in my drinks (weird mushiness) so I asked to switch for what I had originally ordered. Unfortunately, though I already checked in with them once, they made more than a dozen others' tea that came in way after we did before starting to correct mine. Now they are out of boba, I think. My son has already finished his and is waiting in the car. My Apple transaction now says it went through 30 minutes ago... but now they just handed me a drink that again, isn't what I asked for. I've been going to Tastea periodically over the years whenever I'm craving a fruit flavored drink and I'm in Vietnam Town. Their drinks are ridiculously sweet but I do like their flavor combinations and topping choices, including their boba which is green for whatever reason. I received a notification on their app regarding their current Pandan Series and was intrigued by their Pandan Oreo Smoothie since I like pandan and Oreo and was curious to taste how they are together. I was about to place my order on the app but it said they were out of boba so I ended up ordering in person in case it was actually available. I arrived at the store on a weekend around lunchtime and the parking situation was bad as expected, though there wasn't a line at Tastea. I ordered the Pandan Oreo Smoothie with zero sugar since I anticipated the drink already being sweet (the barista confirmed the sweetness just adds sugar and not flavoring to the drink), but also noticed a small sign saying they didn't have boba because their "machine was broken" and I wasn't too bummed about this. The drink was ready in about five minutes and I was able to enjoy it at one of the tables in the shop; this location is not too big but there are a few tables available for use inside and outside. The drink had a nice pandan flavor with the crunchiness and flavor of the Oreo which I felt worked really well together. However, as I continued consuming my drink I noticed the pandan flavor become less and less and I was pretty much left with blended ice and what seemed to be non-dairy creamer. Unfortunately, I probably would not get this drink again and I'd stick with one of their drinks with more fruit. I also think Tastea should reevaluate its sweetness percentage customizations to realistically match the overall sweetness of its drinks. read more

I usually get the avocado avalanche and other smoothies here and they are always delicious! The employee Chris was super sweet and helped me with questions I had about the drinks. I would say the fries and shrimp here are pretty mehhh compared to snacks at other boba shops. Whe we look closely, it is their 2nd anniversary and has BOGO for specialteas drink and if you spend certain amount you will get free gift. Something I really love about Tastea is not only their wonderful drinks..but at every location I've been too they make the drinks consistent. My go to is the Peach Me Sweetea and their popcorn chicken. Pretty good..sometimes I feel like they skimp on the popcorn chicken..and I only feel this way because at times I get a lot when I order a large and at times I get very little when I order the large. Maybe i'll order a small next time and see how much they give me. Occasionally I will get their fries and they're great too. Very crispy!!! Lots of parking available and located in VietnamTown -- perfect to grab and walk around. First time here!! There was no line when I went and the place is super clean. I ordered the Sunset Peach and Vietnamese coffee. The drinks were so refreshing and tasty. The sunset peach comes with green mango bits that I probably could do without, but other than that, it is one of my new favorite boba drinks! The Vietnamese coffee was delicious as well. One of my favorite Tastea locations. Service is extremely friendly and it's a great location where if you grab a drink, you can definitely walk around Vietnam Town easily checking out the shops and restaurants as well. One of my favorite drinks to get is the, watermelon heaven and let me tell you, it is a watermelon lover's dream. It's perfectly sweet and icy for those hot summer days. It feels like you're eating the perfect ripe watermelon in a drinkable form. I hope one day they can expand to a bigger location within Vietnam town and offer more seating. There are other drink shops in Vietnam town that upped their game with plenty of seating and ambiance. Nevertheless, I still love getting the drinks here and especially their chicken. It goes perfectly well with any of the drinks. But yes, if you're craving something I see and sweet, run to Tastea and get the Watermelon Heaven because it's only available during summer time. read more

The female employee working at that time did not acknowledge me at all--no greeting, no basic courtesy--and her attitude was very rude and unprofessional. A new(er) Tastea in Vietnam Town! This spot can get busy depending on times of day, but that's pretty expected for it's location. Parking can be extremely limited but if you're good with a taking a stroll, there's a larger parking lot a block or so away. We came late night on a weekday, just before closing so there wasn't a wait fortunately. I ordered my go-to Peach Me Sweetea, and it tasted just as expected! I've always found that the drinks at Tastea tend to be on the sweeter side, so a 50% sweetness level was just the right amount for me. We ordered their larger size; the boba to drink ratio could've been a bit better, since I ran out of the topping faast before even finishing the drink. I love Tastea and the option to be able to order a 32oz drink. I was craving Tastea and decided to give this location a try, but boy did I regret it. This Tastea is located in Vietnam town, a few doors down from CA Bake House and opened towards the end of June. While visiting my husband's cousin, I decided to stop by this Tastea before heading to her house so that I could get a nice hot drink. I made an order through the app (so that I can earn points for my purchase). I ended up purchasing: Hot Matcha White Rabbit Drink (16 oz), $6.30- There was no option to modify the sweetness level and am not sure if additional sugar is added but I made a note in the free text box to have no sugar added. I thought this drink was at the right sweetness level. The drink was creamy and nice and hot. But I did not feel that it tasted like the white rabbit candy, just a creamy matcha drink. My drink wasn't promised at time of pick up but I only waited another 8 minutes when I arrived, which wasn't a big deal, especially since I was not in a hurry. Service was friendly. I liked that there is a pick up window, like there is at the location in Arcadia (in So. Cal). I also like that there is a nice outdoor (covered) seating area right out front and can see this being a nice place to meet with friends for drinks and catch up. Came here around 6 PM with my cousin for a drink and snacks. We got two watermelon drinks and fries. It was my first time in this location, and the plaza can get busy on weekends and weeknights. It's in a central location to the main area of the plaza. While there's a huge concentration of boba shops here, I think Tastea has its tried-and-true unique drinks that people always crave. The service was good. They were patient and attentive to us. Our order took 10 minutes to come out. Our fries were hot and crispy. The watermelon drink, Watermelon Heaven, was refreshing! My group came for grand opening weekend BOGO and the line was out the store but it goes by pretty quickly. About 20min wait but drinks came out in about 5min so service was amazing! Store is inside the large viet plaza with a bunch of parking and other shops. There wasn't really any indoor seating but some benches outside. Prices are a bit expensive ngl! 20oz (reg boba is 24oz and smal is 16oz so this is in between but cost the same as the reg size at other places). A bit more worth it with the BOGO! 7/10 Jasmine milk tea - average milk tea. Would not go here for this. It is pretty standard in flavor and not worth trying either. 7/10 Wintermelon milk tea - good flavor! Only downside was it was insanely sweet. Got the medium sweetness and it tasted at least 125%. We asked to adjust the sweetness to lower but they said the wintermelon syrup comes as is so lower sweetness would also mean less flavor. 6/10 Thai tea - tea flavor was very light sadly 5/10 Matcha Thai tea Stevia - not sure if it was the stevia but flavor was not great at all. Super light so I couldn't tell if I was drinking Thai or matcha. it was just like a bad combo that ended up kind of ended up tasting like a bad generic milk tea. 6/10 Taro milk tea - also like the Thai it was just really light in flavor. 3.5 stars overall but BOGO + amazing service overall I bumped it up.
