Wow! I'm so thankful that I gave Pelican Grill another chance after a bad experience three years ago. They are now under new ownership/management and made a 180 degree turnaround. We received a friendly welcome upon arrival, were attended quickly and our food was delicious. During the holidays, my mom was visiting from San Antonio. Before she left, I took her to P.G. for her first time. Because she is an excellent cook, she is very particular about her food. It had been a while since I'd been back, mostly because the road has a way of swallowing whole months at a time. This used to be the kind of breakfast joint you could count on: familiar faces, hot coffee, a little local flavor, no pretense. Now? It feels like something essential has gone missing. The neighborhood soul has been traded in for a scattered, food-service-by-the-box energy. Not disastrous, exactly--just tired. The wait staff seemed checked out, the food landed with a shrug, and the whole place had that faint air of a once-loved room no one is quite taking care of anymore. Did ownership change? Did the standards slip? Hard to say, but something definitely did. The price is still fair, which counts for something. The quality, though, is riding the edge of marginal. I really enjoyed having brunch at this location. The staff were very nice. We had a patient waitress who didn't mind coming back a few times because we weren't ready to order yet. That's what happens when you start your table chat before you look at the menu! I ordered the spicy wings and waffle with a side of eggs. The wings were close to being fried too much but they took them out right before they got dry. My friend has to send hers back to remake the chicken because her wings were dry. The waitress didn't have any problem with remaking her order. I really like the sauce that went with the chicken it was sweet and savory! The waffle I asked for crisp outside and fluffy inside and they made it perfectly. Me and my friend stayed talking for a while after we ate and no one came to try and rush us off the table. I was greeted with huge smiles and hellos from the very friendly staff as I entered the restaurant. Atmosphere is laid back. This place is only open for breakfast and lunch, but the menu has many options to satisfy any cravings. I had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. Everything was cooked perfectly. And the crab cake was full of flavor. I opted for the side of fruit as you can tell from the picture is fresh. The service I received was great. More smiles and she met my needs quickly. Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning as first timers here. They are so welcoming! So sweet to my daughter. They only have canned soda (not a big deal) but I prefer fountain. My husband had the salmon Benedict, he said it was very good. Not much salmon on it but still tasted really good. I got the sourdough sandwich, It was not toasted on the bread, just had melted butter on it. So I wasn't a huge fan, I got bacon on it, it wasn't a bad tasting sandwich but I did not like there was 4 slices of cheese (one on each piece of bread) so that's all you could really taste. The avocado and hashbrowns were bomb! They were so good. This place is such a cute little diner, we will go back but maybe will try something different read more

Some coworkers and I came here on our lunch break. The restaurant is very casual, kind of exactly what you would expect from a seaside diner (although Pelican Grill is not located near the water). Our server was friendly. She took our order (5 people) without writing down anything, so that caused some of us to have some anxiety. She ended up getting one of my coworker's sides wrong, but the problem was quickly fixed. My chicken fried steak was pretty good. The steak itself is kind of nondescript--basic but good. The mashed potatoes were, I think, the best thing on the plate. Very flavorful. The salad is a little weird to come with a chicken fried steak but I guess I'm not complaining about some greenery with the heavy steak and gravy. I would've liked a soda, but they only have soda from a can (I prefer fountain). Their menus were also really sticky. I'm not sure if I'll be back here. I live across the water so I'm more of a Skipper's person. Pelican is not bad, but not great enough for me to drive to this side of the water. read more

The Driller is certainly plentiful, with two strips of bacon, two sausage patties, three eggs any style, toast and a side of your choice (Hash Browns, Home Fried, Grits, Salad, Sliced Tomato, Fruits or Sliced Avocado). I went with hash browns. Although the pancakes were very pretty to look at, and had a lot of flavor, I just found them to be too thick and doughy. Overall, nothing about the meal was great, it was a typical greasy spoon breakfast; on the other hand, nothing about the meal was bad either. That said, I don't eat Egg Benedict which so many rave about at this place, so if you do, it certainly might be worth a try. read more

I've only ordered takeout before from here since it's so close to my apartment. Food has always been delicious. I decided to eat in and was very disappointed and unimpressed by the service. There were two servers there, a man and women. We mainly had the man and he was just very rude in a way. For example my mom asked what was the difference in size for their large and small portion and he said "one is large and one is small" like no shit. And he kept throwing stuff on our table rather than placing it down nicely. He also forgot some stuff we asked for, and actually gave my plate of food to the wrong table lol. We found staff and management to very attentive which made eating a well prepared meal even better.

If your claim to fame is "good food and friendly service" the staff should extend the friendly service part to their interactions on the phone. We called the morning of November 21 at 6:55. I understand they don't open until 7 but we figured if they answered they could take our order. Instead, when we asked to place an order we were met with a woman who said "we aren't open yet, you are going to need to give us 10-15 minutes". That is not friendly service. It's bizarre they would answer the phone if they and then say they won't take an order until 5-10 minutes after they open. When we did call at 7:10AM she took the order, but she still had an annoyed tone. Overall, we felt like unvalued customers. Unfortunately the less than stellar experience didn't stop here. The Avocado Eggs Benedict was not good. The egg was way over done, not runny at all and for some reason whoever prepared this thought that brown avocados was a good touch. The corned beef hash and the French toast just plain tasted bad. The tacos and the hash browns were ok. This was a really poor experience and we won't be back and I recommend you find somewhere else for your breakfast needs. McDonald's would've been a better bet than the Pelican Grill. Additionally, I reached out to the business via email and never received a response back. Clearly this business does not care about their customers whatsoever. read more

The customer service was provided by one of the owners Christine. She was very polite. She provided me with the history of the restaurant and the meaning behind entree names listed on the menu. I ordered an entree named after her aunt, "Aunt Bebop's Favorite"! It's Three pieces of French toast served with two scrambled eggs, and bacon. It's a small eatery in a strip center. We went there for breakfast very limited seating. We were lucky to get there at a time they had a table large enough for our party of five. All of their breakfast dishes were amazing. Everybody enjoyed their food, don't be in a hurry when you go there the food takes a bit to come out but it is absolutely worth the wait!! read more

This place is a wonderful little find in Seabrook. Came here the morning after thanksgiving and had the best breakfast with the friendliest service. This is a super laid back little spot with great food , good coffee and fresh OJ. I was torn between the French toast and corned beef hash so I asked our server and she said he corned beef hash was "so good", so that's what I ordered. She was so right ! It was crispy and just full of flavor which went perfectly with the poached eggs and sour dough toast. We also had the pancakes and they were huge and fluffy with a little powdered sugar dusting .... this breakfast was filling and delicious ! Prices are totally fair too. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and isn't anything too fancy, but they have amazing food and service so I will be back for sure !! read more

The egg was undercooked,with white as well as yolk running. And served with a side of "home fries". Essentially, boiled potatoes cut into small cubes and warmed in a skillet. Neither dish was served warm. Let alone hot. I ordered Mexican breakfast tacos. Onions, peppers grilled into eggs and served in soft tacos. Very tasty (even with a store bought salsa) and served hot. The hash browns were crisped, but very cold. And flavorless. Those cute salt and pepper shakers came in handy. Pelican Grill seems to be a local favorite. It could use a little sprucing up. We were treated warmly and quickly. Step up the grill to match the service and you'll have a winner. read more
