Cute music / diner themed interior, fast friendly counter service, food is fresh & had at tourist town price- Burgers were okay - the fries were the best!

A great burger place in Estes Park! A walk up and order place that serves great burgers. The dining area was packed but we had no problem finding a table as service is pretty fast her

    Beef Burger with Avocado Bun

Stopped into Penelope's Oldtime Burgers and left very impressed and full! For the check-in photo, you'll see my dad's regular burger, but the real show-stopper was the avocado "bun." Yes, you read that right: sliced avocado serving as both top and bottom bun. It looked amazing and he said it tasted even better - super fresh, creamy, and a perfect swap if you want something lighter but still satisfying. I went with the Buffalo burger, and after way too much deliberation about bun alternatives (so many fun options!), I finally committed to going 1/2 avocado (top) and 1/2 grilled onions (bottom). Best decision of the day. The grilled onions gave that sweet, smoky base, with a slight crunch and the avocado on top added the perfect cool, rich finish. Every bite was messy in the best possible way and absolutely delicious. Service was friendly, portions were generous, and it's clear they put real care into their ingredients.

Always good burgers when we're in town! It's a cool spot that really leans in to the vintage feeling. There's usually a line but the wait is never too long. We always go for the Elk or Bison Burgers and have not been disappointed! Becase of the price, we usually just go for the 1/3 lb patties. Decent sized patties but on the thinner side. The buns are pretty thick but not necessarily a bad thing. You get a heaping amount of fries if you opt for fries. The only downsides are that the dining area can get crowded fast and its on the pricier side for burgers here. Parking can also be be tricky since its downtown, but I would say its worth it for sure. Will always stop by when we're in town!

We visited on Sunday around 6:30 and had no wait! The spot was cute and eclectic with fun decor and music. The menu is extensive and bit on the pricier end but the food was good (and we expect to pay a bit more on trips). We ordered a Baja Burger which was good and the chipotle was memorable. Also got a Patty Melt, Reuben, and Mushroom Swiss Burger which were tasty. Serving sizes were quite large, especially on the fries. Overall, would recommend!

Stopped by Penelope's burgers after walking by and smelling the scents of burgers and fries wafting outside. The decor inside was so awesome with many vintage Coke paraphernalia. The burger satisfies my cravings and I enjoyed it. Not the best burger in my lifetime, but was perfect for Estes Park stop mid shopping !

Best burgers, best fries, enough choices. Healthy choices? Ha... not at all. But really tasty junk food ;) Really good fried pickles- though I prefer the batter less thick. Fun environment. Definitely have to hit this place as a part of your Estes Park experience.

My husband and I ordered elk burgers with pepper jack cheese, bacon, etc. and fresh cut fries. It was wonderful! Everything was fresh. One of our friends order a burger with extra bacon- wow! I would definitely recommend the food here.

    Raw fry. Kek.

Low quality food. Paid $100 for four people and the meat patties are almost flavorless even after adding salt to flavor. Additionally, the fries have raw, uncooked potatoes mixed in. In and Out can be had for a third of the price and they are of the utmost quality. I would give this place 1/2 star out of 5. Honestly, I'd like my money back and they should take "world famous" off of the sign because the quality is actually a joke. P.S. I ordered a large fry for my daughter (soggy and uncooked potato) and it was $14. In what reality is the fry as much as a burger basket EXCEPT there is NO BURGER and the amount of fries is EXACTLY the same size as what's in the burger basket. I want to give this establishment 0/5 stars but it's not possible. Customer beware! Low, low, LOW quality for a HIGH price!

    Baja Burger

Baja Burger was so GOOD! Lots of flavors, pico, a little spice and the fries were fantastic and fresh! Despite how busy they were we got in and got food and seated very quickly! Seat yourself order at the counter! Cute Coke themed seating areas, fun music and super friendly service! For a quick, tasty bite, stop in!

Yep, just like everyone else, I gotta try what people are raving about. Definitely went all in for the Halloween season when we arrived. And as a goblin myself, it feels a lot like home with it. You have to do a walk-up and order your meals like a premium fast-food joint, and they usually come out for you in a timely manner. Sadly it was too loud to hear our number called out, but the food is good no less. They were doing renovations in the next room, so a good portion of the dining room smelled like paint and sort of ruined our experience this time, but we will give it a go another visit down the road.

Penelope's World Famous Burgers & Fries is the spot. They serve everything from hot dogs to nachos and even baked potatoes, but for my first visit, I had to stick to the classics. It did not disappoint! This is a true classic American cheeseburger that absolutely hits the spot. (Heads up: they usually have a line, but trust me, it's worth the wait!) What I ordered: Double cheeseburger with LTO, grilled onions, American cheese, and fries Best bite: The burger was fantastic! In a time when smashed burgers seem to get all the hype, this classic cheeseburger is next level. The patty was juicy, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. Add the grilled onions and melted American cheese, and you've got something great. And those fries? Just the kind of classic diner fries that make you feel all warm and happy. I should have gotten a milkshake too...

I slept about 4 hours the night before to make it early for sunrise. To say that a few tasty beers were what the doctor ordered would be the understatement of the century! None of this matters, of course, to the good folks at Rocky Cut Brewing Company. This is off the main drag of Estes in an unassuming strip plaza. Humble vibes inside, a simple U-shaped bar top with seating all around, a few smaller tables, a community table, and a large patio with mostly picnic table seating. If you're lucky, snag a stool right along the Big Thompson River! Though, I recommend they fix the wooden placeholders for beers, they're leaning on the wrong side of history, we don't want any full glasses of beer reaching an unnecessary demise! Interference IPA * American IPA * 6.7% * 16oz ($7) From their website: "Climbing the Interference Boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park requires strength and power. This Colorado IPA showcases the power of hops with an intense blend forging citrus aromas with a pine forward finish. Featured ingredients: Cascade, El Dorado, Mosaic, Chinook, & Simcoe hops * Recommended adventure: hiking Black Lake, climbing the Twin Owls, skiing upper Hidden Valley." A perfectly apt description. I would summarize this beer just as they did, focusing on hops, citrus, and pine. Absolutely delicious, a memorable IPA in recent memory. I liked it so much I ordered it again and it tasted just as delicious the second time down! They also had a food truck outside, so safe to assume they do this often. Would love to try more of their beers during my next visit. Rock Cut, I see you!

There were a couple of mix-ups with our order, including Mezcal which has a very distinct taste accidentally being added to my margarita, and some incorrect side dishes but the staff handled everything quickly and professionally. Since the restaurant had only recently reopened with a new menu, the mistakes were understandable. I ordered the Smashburger with fries, and my friend had the chicken fajita sandwich with a salad. The food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable for the area. The rooftop offers beautiful views of Estes Park and is conveniently located right in the shopping district. The only downside was the orange barrier coverings around parts of the rooftop while renovations were being completed. They blocked some of the views and took away a bit of the ambiance. Once those renovations are finished, this will be an even better spot. Great food, attentive service, and a fantastic location, I would definitely visit again once the renovations are completed.

We sat down and about 10 minutes later, a couple sat behind us and our waitress visited and brought water to their table first instead of ours. In addition, another couple behind us was not seen by any waiter/waitress and had to ask a worker (who might have been an assistant manager? Although, not clear what his position was) if they can order with him. Overall service felt scattered, a bit slow overall, and unprofessional. Food: I ordered the tex mex bowl with barbacoa. It tasted as expected, nothing spectacular. However, there was a massive piece of plastic in my food. I let the waitress know and she apologized on behalf of the kitchen. I kept the meal because I hate waste and I didn't see any other plastic pieces in the food. Right after I found the plastic, I also discovered a bone in the meat. It was big enough to hurt a tooth if I had bit down on it but thankfully I spit it out before I chewed my food completely. While a bone might be normal to find in meat, I was certainly unhappy that now two objects were in this food. I was never comped for my meal and the manager never visited my table to apologize. I only write reviews if I had a fantastic experience or when I feel the need to warn others about the restaurant. I recommend choosing another restaurant before choosing this one if you prefer quality food and service.

After one of my go-to nearby restaurants closed down, I decided to venture here for a burger. This place rocks! Boss Burgers and Gyros reminds me of a classic dive that we all know and love. Nothing fancy, no frills, no fuss, no pretentiousness, just tasty food at an affordable price. You order at the counter and the cashier gives you a table number. Plenty of outdoor seating with some indoor seating as well. This place gets pretty busy, but the staff hustles. Kitchen is cranking out relatively quick ticket times so you don't have to wait that long at all. For a cheeseburger with bacon and jalapeños and an order of cheese fries, this was $14 and change. And I added the bacon and jalapeños to the burger! In Denver, this would be $25, haha. The cheese fries (small) were really enough for two people. So you get your money's worth after a day exhausting yourself at RMNP. Burger was great. I added some mustard to mine at the table. It comes with LTO, ketchup, and mayo. This tastes like what you want at a backyard BBQ. Served on a red plastic tray with paper lining, this mom and pop place dishes humble food without breaking the bank. Bacon was crispy, cheese was melty, I had no complaints! Only knock on the cheese fries were that they desperately needed salt. It's not the best burger place of all time, but it doesn't need to be.
