We came here for breakfast this morning and only had a 10-12 minute wait for a table. The whole menu looked great but I kinda kept it in check by going for the Big Breakfast = 2 eggs, 1 sausage, 1 strip of bacon, 1 slice of Ham, homestyle potatoes (just salted right), toast and 2 of their signature Pancakes. I believe the cost of this was like $7 which seemed like a deal!! So all in all, their Pancakes didn't disappoint and bonus for having Strawberry syrup besides the Maple! The miss on this was their bacon. It was waaaay to crispy to the point of when you take one bite, it fell apart. Beyond that, the rest of the plate was amazing! I didn't get a chance to try their coffee as I brought in my own (not by choice!) and wifey did their Short Stack of Cakes. Apparently a short cake order is 5 pancakes!!!! Amazing. I'm here again but it's been a month since I've been? Gotta fix that. Walk in at 1030am. Place is packed! Walk up and sit at the bar. Staff is scrambling to serve the existing orders. I get it. I sat a whole 4 minutes this time. Coffee and water up. Told the nice young lady calling me Sir that I've been dreaming about the scone and biscuits and gravy. Crazy! Within a 2 minutes the scone is up and 30 seconds later the B&G! Ravaged and I'm done! This place is consistent with the great customer service, delicious and filling food and that coffee though! Dang! Just warms the chest and spreads throughout. And the people dining here all talk to each other, even me as a stranger. Utah people are raised right. read more

I don't really know what the hype is about this place. My wife got the corned beef hash, and I got the pot of gold. Although I can't deny there was a bit of nostalgia for me as the cuisine is very reminiscent of old diners, the food was quite overwhelming. The corned beef hash was overly salty and uneventful. The pot of gold lacked any depth of flavor that I would expect from "homemade sausage gravy". One saving grace was the pancakes which were about what you'd expect. Nothing more, but also quite solid. The boysenberry syrup was by far the star of the show. Will I be coming back? Probably not. For the wait and price, Penny Ann's is most definitely not worth it. read more

I can't believe how quickly we were greeted, seated, and caffeineeted(?) Imma gonna tell you what. I eat a lot of corned beef hash and eggs for breakfast. It's my go-to, especially if it's my first time at a place. Penny Ann's is the best homemade style corned beef hash I've had in a very, very long time. Their CBH is "east coast style" meaning the meat is ground instead of shredded, and the potatoes are small diced instead of chunks. Anyway it was outstanding with the two perfectly poached poultry pods I placed on top of the hash with some hot sauce. Oh yeah- the hotcakes are worth a visit all by themselves. Penny Ann's always delivers. Today I went away from my normal selection into a few recommendations. Pancakes, as always, were amazing. We added a waffle, which might be my new go to. Pot of Gold - 4.5 Stars - very tasty. It is a lot of food and can easily be shared. I felt like it needed more of a base. More potatoes would've helped it. Nutella/Strawberry French Toast - 5 stars - very tasty, but very sweet. Felt like they put a loaf of bread on the plate felt like it was a dessert that could've been shared by four people. Carmel/Praline French Toast - 5 stars - my favorite of the two French toast. Not as sweet as the other. The little praline nuggets were amazing. This trip to Penny Anne's has inspired me to travel around the menu a bit more. I think there are some options available that I have been overlooking for several years. read more

Arrived about 8:30 this morning (Saturday). We were seated at a two top table right next to a couple of guys (customers) that were loudly trying to outdo each other in their sales bro stories. My dudes, it's Saturday morning. We ordered, but it just got really annoying. Of course, rather than say anything to them, my wife and I decided to just ask to move. She went up to the front where two female employees were standing, chatting. When they finally acknowledged her standing there, they turned their heads, looked at her, and then turned and walked away. So, my wife approached (what seemed to be) a manager standing next, and asked if we could move from that table to an open booth on the opposite side of the dining room. He replied, "Yeah, that's no problem." So, we dragged all our utensils and coffee, etc., and cleaned off our old table, and moved to the new one (no employee offered to move us), we didn't want to leave it dirty. We settled into the booth that was empty (a four top) and continued sipping our coffees while waiting for our order. In a few minutes, a young woman employee approached our table and told us that we are not allowed to change tables. My wife let her know that we had permission from the manager, but the wait person cut her off and began a rambling explanation about since the order was placed at that other table, literally 25' away, that since we moved, our food could not be delivered to that side of the dining room, it would have to go to the other table, and how we messed up the flow of work. I replied, "Well, we could just leave." She then said, well you can stay, but your food might not come over here, it messes up our whole system..". I cut her off, and said again, "Well, we could just leave.", and we got up and left. It was definitely the WEIRDEST, and STUPIDEST exchange I've ever had with wait staff. I'm a guy who tells literally EVERYONE who serves me during the day that I appreciate them, and I'm glad they came to work, and I tip generously, because I've done those jobs. Clearly, no compliment was tendered to this staff when I left. 0/10 recommend read more

Their hot cakes are literally the best pancakes I've ever had. The chile verde cheese fries were to die for. The front check-in/waiting area could be improved. Felt a little stuffy as we waited and other clients were leaving. The staff were great overall. The large windows provided the lighting in the room which made the place more homey. We have gone here a lot of the past couple years but I kept forgetting to Yelp it! Hubby and I have Friday brunch dates and more than half the time we end up here. Hubby is the one thats changes it up. This time he got the Stuffed French Toast (raspberry and white chocolate). Mine is Always on Point, hubby liked his and both entrees are large. We also scored another order of Free Penny Puffs. WIN! Seating Area is not that big but they are now at Full Capacity. They move fast. Service is always pretty friendly. Food comes out fairly quickly and they are pretty fast with refills on coffee/water. My only gripe which is not a big deal-- only one main entrance and exit that is narrow. There is a side door to exit out of if u are in the know. ;) But most use the same one you entered thru. Btw-- I am not a Pancake person but theirs is like dessert! No syrup hardly needed. We went here for breakfast during the week after 11 am . We were seated right away . The restaurant was pretty busy . We ordered a breakfast burrito & Diet Coke . The burrito has eggs, potatoes, green pepper, onions & sausage. It was huge ! It was pretty good but I was hoping for crumbled sausage not cut up linked sausage . The sausage was not browned it was steamed & chunky . We ordered the Ultimate biscuits & gravy . This was with eggs, biscuits & sausage gravy , bacon & green peppers. We ordered this with over medium fried eggs. When the dish came out it had scrambled eggs . Our waitress never came to check on how the food was or to ever refill our drink. When she finally came to our table to give us our check we let her know about the eggs being wrong she said I'm sorry . She seemed surprised that it was made wrong . We love Penny Ann's. The wait has averaged about 20 minutes for us and they have always been urgent to get us seated. There is very little indoor room to wait for a table to its a little rough when weather is bad. The food is so great and I feel very reasonably priced. Whatever you do, please get on the wait list. The wait list can get pretty long as Penny Ann's is pretty busy during breakfast and brunch. If you don't, then you can't complain about the wait. The food was decent, but I wouldn't say it's mindblowing. I ordered the Pot of Gold and I liked it as there was a great savory flavor with the gravy and the grilled onions and peppers. There isn't anything too special about the hot cakes, but they were definitely fluffy. They do reheat well, so if you end up taking them home as leftovers, you can still eat them. The service was good, it wasn't too busy when we arrived even though the wait list was bouncing back and forth. They actually ended up seating us before we were supposed to be seated because people on the wait list weren't showing up on time. The location is in the heart of Draper and is in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking.
